Olympics have started!

Sport of Kings. Sevens is a brilliant sport, a true test of team play and fitness. Will be great to see Western Samoa and Fiji feature more at the Olympics.

Yawn. Whose stupid idea was that?

I think snooker and darts ought to be introduced, oh, and table football (Subbuteo and Foosball, one gold for each). And Scrabble, my only chance of an Olympic medal.

Oh Boy! This is unexpected. I'm in tears for the first time this Olympics as Andy Murray wins gold. Great, great performance, unbelievable atmosphere and truly great display of guts and talent. Well deserved. I'm so happy for him.

Can't believe Andy Murray dominated Federer for the gold.

It was after he did a Pat Cash and clambered up to his family that I nearly went, as he climbed down and the little lad gave him a hug!

It's really awesome that Americans can be blatant enough to have double standards.

Not half as awesome as you taking every opportunity possible to indulge in your anti-american wankfest. Get a life.

Ben Ainslie saw off the Danish viking tactics in the sailing to take his fourth Olympic Gold. We got a Silver too, in the Star class.

No doubt. Well done, UK.

Congrats to Jessica Ennis. And my god, she's got a stunning body.

About a week ago after Cavendish failed to win the road sprint, Ainslee was losing his races and then Rebecca Adlington won bronze I felt we would be lucky to get 5-6 for the whole fortnight.

It's been brilliant but the US have been great too, enjoyed Phelps successes and the US domination of much of the swimming.. and we have 5 days of competition left still.

Here are a list of 10 major sports that do not appear at the Olympics:

Cricket
Rugby Union
Rugby League
Lacrosse
Netball
Karate
Squash/Fives/Pelota/Raquetball
Gridiron football
Kabaddi
Sepak Takraw

NFL football should replace soccer in the Olympics.

NFL football should replace soccer in the Olympics.

If so, save the money and just give the gold to the US and silver to Canada... and hmm bronze to... dont know any other country that does American football...

Yeah, like the US needs another nailed-on guaranteed gold medal.

Anyway, 4 mintes to 100m final. I'm going for a Blake win in 9.65. Quick, anyone got another prediction?

Get ready for USA vs Jamaica in the 100 meters ... I'm lighting a fat lady for the occasion!

Minute to go. I think Blake but I want Bolt.

Come on Usain!!!!

Beautiful... I wish he would dedicate his title to the Queen just for funsies;)

Wow!!!! Usaiiiiiiin Bolt by 0.12 of a second. What a race! BBC just said positions 3,4,5,6, and 7 all registered the faster ever times in those positions in Olympic history.

Yeah, that's a great idea. Since we are the only country playing NFL football, we'd be guranteed a Gold Medal! And they say there's no original though left in this country!:lamo

I'm not sure Canada would find enough players to compete. There is a Canadian Football League but it isn't NFL football and almost all the players are Americans that are too small or not good enough for the NFL. I think we'd have to play ourselves.

Yeah. And how would like to play once every three days (getting beaten and brutalized each time) in pool play and THEN the actual tourney begins. Each team would be lucky to field a full team by the final game.

Some fabulous bits of video of the BBC guest sports stars - not broadcast at the time of the race but released afterwards.

Colin Jackson, Michael Johnson and Denise Lewis all screaming their heads off in support of Mo Farah on Saturday.

Video Quality not as good as from BBC Iplayer here but Youtube is available beyond UK Borders.
