The Bloom Box is currently being tested by eBay, Fedex, Wal-Mart, Staples, the San Francisco Airport, and the CIA.
10 years from now, fossil fuels will be history.
The bloom box requires fuel input, like gas.
Or bio-fuels. Or gas from land fills.
It can also use solar.
DIY solar kits are hitting the market. My son's science teacher has one of those homes where the meter runs backwards and they get a refund from the state.
Fossile fuels (as we know them) will be history in 10 years.
Gonna take longer than that. Until another power source becomes more cost-effective than fossil fuels, people will be resistant to switching over.
Refund would be from the utility, not the state, that is how it worked when I worked for one. And I would like to know how solar would run a fuel cell, or even why. Wouldn't it be better to use the solar to generate the electricity directly?Or bio-fuels. Or gas from land fills.

It's not about finding one new power source--a magic bullet.
A combination of green technologies will eliminate the need for coal plants.
Hybrids and electric cars are like the DVDs phasing out the old VHS tapes. As prices come down over time, people will switch over.
The new Ford Focus EV will go 100 miles on a charge. By choosing an existing platform and using technology developed by an auto supplier, Ford saved on R&D, and the sticker price will be well under the $40K Volt. Ironically, Ford's Explorer, though not the first SUV, was the consumer model that moved the auto-industry in that direction.
New technologies are always high-priced at first.

Correct, the utility issues a direct refund for NEM. The state and fed give the tax credit.
And solar fueling a cell was a statement made during the 60 minutes interview. I have no idea. Corn needs sun?
Not until they design one that will go more than a couple hundred miles between charges and is bigger than a bread box.
How do you think your vegetables, furniture, clothing, etc. will get to the store?? By a great big electric truck traveling across the country ???
Why, when the average motorist rarely travels more that 40 miles/day.
Hybrids go more than a hundred miles.
Biodiesel.

The most cost effective way to move stuff around the USA is diesel electric TRAINS....
battery operated trucks are good for those short distances...True, but we still have to get the stuff from the trains to the stores/plants.

I said a COUPLE hundred. I drive FAR more than 40 miles/day.
Yeah, biodiesel is great, except in the winter. Better get ready for much higher shipping prices and resultant increases in the price of goods if biodiesel becomes popular. B100 costs significantly more than regular diesel. It also has the same problem as ethanol... it takes a lot of crops to make it.
Pt #1- never said there were no tax cuts.
Pt #2- I agree that in this type of recession throwing money was not the fix. However if you want to put some people to work during this period which is what the stimulus did then I would have preferred to have them do something that would have long term benefits to our economy.
Again, please, tell us exactly who's taxes were cut.
Since you're so much smarter and more knowledgable than the rest of us, it should be a piece of cake to show us that information

Get a dictionary and look up the word 'average'...
You're a GW denier. Your opinion on all things scientific doesn't carry any weight IMO.
But, in the interest of bringing you up to speed, everything you said wasn't true as of last year... Think Algae.
My sense is that these initiatives are how industry and government can cooperate effectively to create opportunities for Americans today as we transition to clean energy tomorrow.
Whatever happened to those shovel-ready jobs he promised? OR the jobs that were suppose to have been saved/created already?
