Thanks! I wonder what HoJ will think of it, after all it's better than his photo.
An improvement over what? A can of spam?
I'm not Obama's biggest fan, but when I think of people who would make worse Presidents, she's right at the top of my list with Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich. A lot of Conservatives feel the same way.
I think progressivism is a pretty well known and well defined concept. So I don't feel the need to engage your odd rhetoric.
Read Boyington's autobiography, it's all there.
The pilots were picked up from replacement squadrons who weren't being picked up by other squadrons.
Nobody but you has referred to the pilots of VMF-214 as being a discipline problem or rejects, you probably picked that up from watching the TV series.
Probably the best Boyington sea story I remember took place around the late 1930's when he was stationed at North Island NAS and got stuck with the duty across the bay at MCRD for some enlisted Marine dance. He got so ####faced instead of taking a taxi to the ferry building to take the ferry over to Coronado he decided to swim across the bay to North Island. This was like around midnight. He took his shoes off, hung them over his neck and while in uniform started swimming. Eventualy he made it to shore, climbed up and found he was back at MCRD, he swam in a circle.
Now Boyington is another topic when it came being a discipline problem. Read his autobiography. He got into a lot of fights and was a heavy drinker. Boyington claims he would take off on a combat mission with a bottle of scotch and would crack the canopy while smoking a cigaret.
Boyington was a muscular husky fellow. He still was when my father introduced me to him around 1958. Like I said he loved to fight. The last time I saw Boyington he was with his daughter, good looking tall blond. This was probably during the early or mid 80's, he had cancer by then and was about half his weight.
I do have to stand corrected, I mentioned that the Black Sheep squadron was VMF-314 it was actually VMF-214.
Psst: I generally don't pay attention to avatars. Your posts are ignorant enough in themselves to entertain without visual aids.
Palin was the victim of a pretty vicious media campaign and she is associated with lots of quotes she never said. She had experience as a small business woman, rose to Mayor of Wasilla and then became a popular governor who did a good job by most accounts in Alaska. She negotiated oil pipeline deals, fishing rights with Russia and fought corruption in the Alaska republican party as an Alaskan republican governor. She may not have been an ideal campaigner as a vice president candidate but comparing her to a can of spam is unnecessarily disrespectful and a little ignorant.
You still are showing no evidence you know anything about Boyington beyond the TV series. The pilots where not "not picked up by other squadrons", they where in fact assigned to the squadron and Boyington given command. Some where exceptional with great records. At the time, enough replacement pilots was an issue and squadrons happily took whoever they could get.
Look, you can claim to have met any one. It is the internets. No one can prove you didn't. When I met Jesus, Ghandi, Julius Ceasar and Ghengas Khan, they told me some great stories too. I bete if I told you about them they would match up with real history and not the made up stuff you pander with.
Why not ?
If it's well known, what are you scared of ?
The "progressive" attitude where you have a self-appointed elite of sophisticates who claim to have "scientific" methods for making decisions that will change the lives of millions, always unpredictable and mostly in negative ways.
What was the most sucessfull accomplishment of Progressives in America, prohibition, the Dillingham Commission, the ideology that some races and ethnicities are superior to others, American nationalism ?
Who are those progressives that today progressive always like to point out, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodward Wilson, William P. Dillingham and what did they all have in common ?
Lenin, Stalin borrowed from progressivism, Hitler heavily borrowed from progressivism, but all three had the cajones not to hide behind the label of progressivism.
Are todays progressives really progressives or are they something else hiding behind the label of progressivism ?

Glenn? Is that you? Come on buddy, no need to hide.
But seriously, this is just absurd. You might possibly be able to call Lenin/Stalin a conservative progressive (or torry as it is know across the pond) but even then it would still be a supremely extremist version of progressive nationalism. Which is in no way the same as a modern American progressive. This precisely the reason that the ignorant (read uninformed) should not discuss complex political topics. You simply do not understand what modern progressivism is.
You are right, at the turn of the century, many Americans who identified as "progressive" believed in what they colloquially called "scientific racism" but by the same token, so did the vast majority of conservatives. The difference is that in the last 100 years one of those groups has completely changed their view on the matter.
But heck with it, go ahead and keep thinking that the term "progressive" is some sort of insult. To quote the Greatest American Novel ever written and the paragon of honor who resides within:
“It’s never an insult to be called what somebody thinks is a bad name. It just shows you how poor that person is, it doesn't hurt you.”
Let me try to phrase this in a way you might understand:
Sarah Palin WILL do to science what you are terrified Barrack Obama might do to your guns.
Hey man not that I don't agree with you but there are a few good cities here. Unfortunately, the cesspool that is the PHX metro area taints us all.Racism is nothing new to Aridzonza.
I hate that ****ing state.
I'm sure there were some fair-minded wonderful human beings living in Hitler's Germany as well. But I would still hate the "state" he ran.Hey man not that I don't agree with you but there are a few good cities here. Unfortunately, the cesspool that is the PHX metro area taints us all.

I will not abide the Godwin-ing <----- Is that a thing?Godwin's Law. That was quick.
Oh, and the back and forth between identifying as "progressive" and "conservative"? Am I in 6th grade again?
The fact is that they're just labels. Attack policies and arguments, not people.
Now about them commies. Those ****ing *** ****** ********* cactus **** ******* son of a **** ****** hippy ******* ****** and a bucket of ************

Most here saw the Tea Party a**holes for what they were long ago. Well, they showed up without their Klan hoods to show themselves to the world at President Obama's speech in Arizona:
Obama foes at one point sang, "Bye Bye Black Sheep," a derogatory reference to the president's skin color, while protesters like Deanne Bartram raised a sign saying, "Impeach the Half-White Muslim!"
Many on both sides wore red, white and blue and carried small flags.
“He needs to go back to where he came from because obviously, he is a liar,” she said. “I am not racist. I am part Indian. Obama’s half Black, half White.”
“He’s 47 percent Negro,” shouted Ron Enderle, a 77-year-old Chandler resident who said that he and his son served as Marines and his grandson is currently serving in the Marines.
“We have gone back so many years,” she said. “He’s divided all the races. I hate him for that.”
This is today's Republicans. Bunch of f**king ignorant bigots. Bathing in Stupid is no way to go, people.
One bright spot was that Obama supporters outnumbered the Obama critics nearest the motorcade when the President past.

Nice "breaking news- MSM" link supplied here, Skippy.
Not to mention the end run around the word censor.
Well sure, the OP's hate for conservatives is important breaking news. How could you doubt that?
