NY allows little children to be taught to slaughter at age 12

Am I?

Thanks for letting me know, I had no idea.
I have as little regard for the left wing nuts as the right wing nuts.

If someone posted a thread that a certain race of people were evil or stupid then other posters would assume that person is a racist. If someone posted a thread about how Chevy vehicles sucked ass then other posters would assume that person hates Chevy. So if a person posts a vegan peta thread bitching about12 year olds hunting animals then other posters would have to assume that person is a vegan and a member of PETA.

A great deal of America's fat comes from grains.

Most of it comes from meat. Meat is heavily subsidized. It's damaging ecologically, socially and to national health. Ignoring this is just plain stupid. The vast majority of America's calories come from meat. Meat is the most dense food people eat. Why can't you accept reality? Eating meat is making America obese. It's the meat calories. The subsidized calories. Deal with it.

"I'm gonna put my head in the sand because meat makes me manly."

That's pathetic. Look at the numbers. The stats. The facts. And stop protecting meat like it's your boyfriend.

NY recently passed a law that allows 12 year old's to hunt deer. It is a country by county decision.
This country is so ****ed up. This is NY, one of the better areas of the country.
What could go wrong?

Hunting from an early age is a cultural inclusion found all around the world. I was shooting younger than 12, and by the time I was 12 I had my own gun that I could use without permission, so long as I stayed on our land and didn't break any of the many safety rules I was taught before being given this privilege.

You should probably be careful with your tack, lest you slip into bigotry.

Most meat is from animals killed through a third party.
How is this worse?

I have zero problem with slathering animals for fun like hunters do. In fact, I would like to see way more murdered by the great AR armed hunter.

True, I have never been to Alabama. (noir will I ever be until it becomes part of America)
Make sure when you do that you stop by the Space Center in Huntsville.

guess what happens when you assume? ;)

Trust me, I get it, it's cultural.

I drove trucks from a VERY young age, I don't support lowering the legal driving age because it was culturally accepted in my youth.

That is not an acceptable argument.

My
It desensitizes kids.
My grandfather was a butcher and took my dad to visit a slaughterhouse when he was a child.

Do you think this was a desensitization? Or just a part of reality.

I do eat meat and I do consider myself a hypocrite for doing so because animals suffer. No way around that.

Do you eat meat?

The former
And close to child abuse

Yes but I justify that because animals slaughtered for meat are farmed and they don't suffer.

I have seen pictures of pigs close to slaughter which are throwing up out of terror. So unfortunately animals do suffer.

And I eat bacon so I freely admit I am a hypocrite.

Poorly run slaughter houses then
There is no reason to make the animals suffer

And I eat bacon so I freely admit I am a hypocrite.

OK
I'm not, because I oppose making animals suffer.

I do appreciate that you are an animal lover but how can you make killing animals an act in which they won’t suffer?

I am not trying to be argumentative. I just don’t know.

People like you could never understand.

My assumption is that you don't eat meat or animal products like milk and cheese.

The factory farms are much more cruel to animals than a hunter ever will.

I know its hard for you to believe but hunters respect the game they hunt. They spend a lot of money improving habitats and ensuring the health and future of the game.

To you....and it's not really an argument. Unless you think people need to somehow seek your approval for their cultural inclusions, especially when they are protected by law, this is simply a statement of fact.

People have been teaching their kids to hunt since literally forever. It not being universal is a very very recent thing, when our entire tenure on this planet is considered. Any problems you think you have with guns have nothing to do with this.

By the way, just a bit of interesting information I found while looking up your laws... A 12 year old can buy their own deer tag in California. California! And up here in Canada, the shining light for gun control that some folks like to suggest, a 12 year old can go hunting with a licensed adult hunter after taking a course. Seems to me that New York is just getting caught up with other progressive areas...good for them, as I can assure you that law or no law, 12 year olds were accompanying their parents into the forest, just like their parents did when they were young...so now they can enjoy that above board.

I get that you may not get it...it's fine, and of course you're entitled to your opinion... But there is nothing controversial at all about this...and chances are, if someone learns to be responsible with firearms when they're that age, they're more likely to keep that mentality throughout their life. This is a positive thing, man...shit on it if you want to, but it is...

Of no relevance.

It is only of relevance when implementing resoned change as educational programs are needed to overcome the biases of bad past cultural practices.

You would be very wrong.

I could care less. Read my post again without assuming my position. Why do people struggle so to consider that someone may not be part of "the other" tribe when they don't join "your" tribe.

A few of us are reasoned and don't do tribe.

I know its hard for you to believe but hunters respect the game they hunt.

Yeah, I know. I walk on their bear rugs.

Again, you're entitled to your own opinion, but that's about it I'm afraid. And if your real goal is better gun control, this is probably the best way to turn people off. Hunting is baked into most cultures around the world...it's universal to the human experience. If kids were not allowed to hunt with their parents in New York previously, this is correcting a wrong. I think that's very relevant...much more so than your opinion, in fact. Cultural context plays a huge part in many progressive efforts to right past wrongs.

Also...cutting out someone's message and only responding to the parts you think you have an edge over is lazy debating. I actually researched for this, bro...lol.... What's up with the bush league treatment? ;)

Who the hell hunts with an AR? When I was a kid, we had an M1 carbine, which was far more appropriate for hunting deer. This was in the 70s, obviously.

but, but but I was told just this week that he AR was a Swiss Knife.

I guess an AR, the most popular gun in American is not as Swiss as I was told. Just an instrument dedicated to the slaughter of humans.

The AR series of rifles is available in over 100 chamberings, including nearly all common hunter calibers.

An AR chambered in .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor is a much better choice than a M1 Carbine for hunting deer.

Read Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond, he gives a good explanation. It's not worth my time typing it out.

And it is sought out...and farmed in some places...so you dont get out much. And it's pretty expensive.

LOL, next time come to an intentionally inflammatory OP of your own making better prepared

Awesome book.
