Non-Hispanic White babies minority in the US!

America will change dramatically all on its own in the next 100 years. Maybe there will be more shows on ABC with non-Hispanic whites actors or maybe SNL will have its first "latino" cast member.

so you dont think it will change much at all then ( sorry had to swim through all your sacrcastic BS)

Eventually, maybe, we'll quit pigeonholing people based on which minority group they represent and simply all consider ourselves Americans.

But, that will take a while.

I dont see that happening anywhere in the world ever...

My first reaction is that calling no-Hispanic white births the "minority" is misleading since they still constitute the largest number of births for any single racial/ethnic group by a wide margin (nearly double Hispanic).

I don't think it should be "non-Hispanic Whites" compared to "everyone else mixed together". Every group is less than 50% of the total births.

Do you think it will change America dramatically in the next 100 years or not at all?

Are our choices really limited to the two extremes like that?

its not a poll Tucker so your choices are limitless these are just the two quick questions I wanted to start the debate with. Personally I think that diversity is a good think as long as everyone respects each othesr culture which of course isnt always the case. I think the Hispanic community are going to become a power voice in the US and that America will see more and more Latin American culture becoming more mainstream, although I cant see Americans embracing Soccer anytime soon.

No? Just look at how far we've come in just the past century. Another ten or twelve, and we could be a post racial society.

I think that will likely happen due to ever increasing intermarriage between ethnicities.

I dont think we have come that far too be honest we just switched our hate, people still **** themselves everytime they see someone wearing a burqa.

My reaction is I don't care.

You said post your reaction, I did. No reason for you to complain.

just think its a waste of everyones time when people post " I dont care", clearly you cared enough to post a reply to the thread and could of maybe elaborated on your position or maybe even answered the question in the OP. But I guess thats just me.

I think that the Hispanic Community already is a power voice in the US, personally, but that could be a product of being from a city as diverse as Chicago.

I think the biggest change we'll see from this is that at some point over the next 100 years we'll see another non-Protestant President eventually.

It's a good thing. Domination of the country by a single racial group has always been a major source of problems in US history. Better than no single racial group controls alone.

I can see an Hispanic President in the next 20 years!

I did answer the question in the OP.

How about freedom for all racial groups? There will always a largest racial group somewhere, and being the largest does not equate with "domination."

I don't care what the racial makeup of the country is, just as long as everyone is equal and discrimination (in any side, for or against a people group) does not occur.

Yeah, in theory, we could have perfect racial harmony even with a majority racial group. But that doesn't seem to be how things have ever played out for us. In just our short history we've engaged in race based slavery, we've committed race based genocide against the Native Americans, we've denied the vote to all non-whites, still today if a white person and a black person apply for the same job with the same resume, the white person is 2.4 times more likely to get an interview. The average white household has 14 times as much wealth as the average black household. One of our two major political parties is almost exclusively white. The DOJ just documented the most extreme pattern of racial profiling they have ever found in US history, including the jim crow south, in Arizona. Membership in white supremacist groups has increased by between 200% and 300% over the past 4 years according to the FBI. Etc, etc. We just have an abysmal track record of treating everyone equally regardless of their race and avoiding discrimination. Horrifically bad. At this stage I think our best bet is just to get to a point where there is no majority because without a single racial majority it would be much, much, harder to keep messing up like that.

And this is my point, why can't we all be color blind?

Color blindness while racism still exists is just enabling. It's like the family of an alcoholic deciding that the solution is just not to talk about drinking.

Nice in theory but....

I think being colour blind is in itself a type racism because your purposely ignoring something which is right in front of your eyes, we are all different colours, have different cultures, eat different foods and pray to different gods. We should embrace our differences and learn from each other rather than just making us one boring PC-Generic race.

Race=/= culture.
