Nominating Trump, Republicans Rewrite His Record

[h=1] one in which the nation was not nearing 180,000 deaths from the coronavirus; in which Mr. Trump had not consistently ignored serious warnings about the disease; in which the president had not spent much of his term appealing openly to xenophobia and racial animus; and in which someone other than Mr. Trump had presided over an economy that began crumbling in the spring.

This part is especially precious. In one breath, they tell us that Trump is responsible for not shutting down enough of our economy. In the very next breath, we learn that he's apparently responsible for the for looting and destruction in our cities that were triggered by a single supposedly racist event, in a city run by Democrats. And in the third, as if the first two never happened, he's responsible for the "crumbling" economy because, apparently he allowed TOO MUCH of it to be shut down.

@MTAtech............Trump did restore a failing economy.

Barack and Joe gave us about the weakest economy and recovery ever....the economy pretty much exploded under Trump's policies

Are you blind? I just showed you in post #22 that your assertion is false. Trump's economy did not "explode." It's exactly the economy that Obama handed to Trump. Instead of parroting Fox and Rush talking points, produce the data that proves your point. Look at the graphs below. GDP usually goes up every year unless there is a recession. At what point did the slopes explode upward?

You're making the mistake that Trump is telling you the truth.

You believe when democrats are "running things", racists stop being racists? And yet you do not support democrats.

What I take away from this post is that you can't read a graph.

It's hard to imagine a more ridiculous response to my comment, so congrats on that.

No, actually:

1. There's no evidence that Floyd's killing, or the vast majority of killings of unarmed black men by police, are actually the result of racism.
2. But, if Democrats really believed that they were linked to racism, it's their fault because they had the power to do something about it but apparently failed. So they blame Republicans for their own transgressions.

Hours after Republican delegates formally nominated Mr. Trump for a second term, the president and his party made plain that they intended to engage in sweeping revisionism about Mr. Trump’s management of the coronavirus pandemic, his record on race relations and much else. And they laid out a dystopian picture of what the United States would look like under a Biden administration, warning of a “vengeful mob” that would lay waste to suburban communities and turn quiet neighborhoods into war zones.

At times, the speakers and prerecorded videos appeared to be describing an alternate reality: one in which the nation was not nearing 180,000 deaths from the coronavirus; in which Mr. Trump had not consistently ignored serious warnings about the disease; in which the president had not spent much of his term appealing openly to xenophobia and racial animus; and in which someone other than Mr. Trump had presided over an economy that began crumbling in the spring.
...

The Republicans’ message veered wildly, sometimes between consecutive speakers. State Representative Vernon Jones of Georgia, a Democrat who has endorsed Mr. Trump, trumpeted the president’s support for police reform, for instance, while other Black speakers appealed directly to minority voters. Minutes later, a St. Louis couple, Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who recently drew wide attention in the news media for brandishing firearms at peaceful Black protesters in their neighborhood, turned to barely veiled racial rhetoric.
“Your family will not be safe in the radical Democrats’ America,” said Ms. McCloskey, sitting with her husband in their home, warning that Mr. Biden, the Democratic nominee, wanted to “abolish the suburbs.”

Trump has no record to run on and America isn't better than it was four years ago. All the Republicans have to sell is fear -- just like Hitler's Nazi Party sold fear of Jews to a gullible Germany.

Yep, same strategy, different century. Standard extreme right-wing nationalist methodology. It’s more sophisticated now, however. But the power grab and angry anti-egalitarian view is obvious.

What I take away from this post is that you can't read a graph.

And what I take from this is your graph is BS

You don't seem to understand the analysis at all.

There is no analysis to understand. It's all baseless assumption. People started rioting in Kenosha based on a 45 second video clip.

Feel free to provide the supposed evidence if you think there is any.

And what I take from this is your graph is BS

Well, yes. When asked to choose between the Orange Jesus and objective reality, I am reasonably sure I know which way you're going to jump.

You are arguing to the wrong people. You should go to Kenosha or Portland and tell folks there.

It's all baseless assumption.

So, basically, you don't know anything. Your position is based on your personal ignorance.

No thanks. I'm perfectly happy responding to nonsense right here on DP.

An someone tell me what he meant with that?

He believes racist stuff cannot happen in a place "run by democrats"; yet, he does not support democrats. Explain?

This folks is what we call re-writing his record but that is what leftist attempt to do best.
No that is all leftist have is fear and if they don't get their way they will loot, burn, and destroy your crap until they do.

Particularly about the Civil War

lol

yes democrats attempt to try and re-write their history revolving the civil war along with the racist annotations that sit
beside their party too bad they do such a horrible job of it.

So, basically, you don't know anything. Your position is based on your personal ignorance.

Quite the contrary, but the complete lack of a substantive response from makes it pretty obvious that ignorance is the basis for your opinion.

A claim is being made - that there is a significant component of racism in police killing of black men. I have yet to see any actual evidence of this, despite my efforts to get those who make this claim to provide it. I've seen plenty of BS, and evidence to the contrary, but no evidence that actually supports the claim.

I don’t believe that was what he communicated in the comment you quoted. .

How are democrats relevant? He employs them in his denial of racism.

Okay, Mr. Herman.

Good grief, all Dems have done the last 4 years is peddle fear of the virus and of Trump and of law enforcement and even of return to normal lives.

Did you even watch the convention?

The RNC didn’t conflict with Trump’s record, it conflicted with CNN’s distortion of Trump’s record.

What the convention shows is that the liberal media have been living in an alternate universe for the past four years.
