No U-Turn signs are homophobic?

I hope they declare seatbelts homophobic next.

So De Santis can outlaw any gay bridge colors but you all are upset about this?

GMAFB! 🤨

Ah, but you see, @Lutherf knows the LGBTQ rainbow symbol is actually a communist ANTIFA call to arms for purposes of victimizing Trumpists. So getting rid of those colors is fine.

But getting rid of a no U-Turn sign?

Just as long as they don't drink Bud Lite, amirite?

Right. That applied to everyone, not just gays.
If you actually watched the entire video you posted and paid attention these signs were place specifically for that neighborhood because it was known to be a gay one. Jesus

How about roundabouts? Those are more polyamorous, I guess.

It doesn’t take much imagination to envision a time when things like No U-turn signs, no cruising signs, curfew signs, and other restrictions were put up as pretexts for police in gay areas to stop and harass gay people.

Why conservatives get so damn angry over this stuff is beyond me. It just shows how much hate you have that being gay is now largely accepted as normal. Maybe if you stopped followed bigot Twitter accounts you’d realize none of this stuff matters. But if bigots can’t spend hours a day thinking about gayness and wokeness what will they do with their lives?
the fact that you think it was put up as "pretexts to stop and harass gay people" is the annoying part.

I disagree with curfews unless there is an emergency going on, but from what world do you think that any particular straight, gay or ANY other individual sexuality choice is a reason for putting up restrictive traffic signs?

they want to restrict ALL people from doing this, for various reasons.

Yeah, I mean, it's not like LGBTQ were ever victimized and especially targeted by the right.

I'm at a loss here. How the heck does a "No U-Turn" or "No Cruising" sign prevent gays from doing anything? Were suspected homosexuals chained tot he signs or something?

Thanks goodness you've raised this serious issue to our attention!!! What is one danger of 'wokeness?' Well, a neighborhood might remove....checks notes.... some signs the city council voted to remove more than a decade ago but are still up!!! MAGA by not removing SIGNS!!!!

Goodness, I could read the listed article 100 times and you know what would never occur to me? Posting it on "General Political Discussion" on DP! It's a filler local story, likely written by some newbie or contract employee who got paid $25 for it. So, good job, I guess!!! 😵‍💫 🤣

I have absolutely never seen anyone targeted by traffic signs. Also, they are not the only ones who had no cruising or no u-turn signs put up in their cities alongside many favored pubs and such, on the cruising strips either.

but ok, hey if LA county has that big of a problem with Homophobes, shame on them. Damn liberal ass cities.

Well, if you haven't seen it, then it must not have ever happened!! GREAT ARGUMENT!! MAGA!!! 🤣

Yeah, it's so hard to understand!!! Won't someone explain this to you since it's too hard for you to grasp? So sorry you are confused!! Here's my violin!

Well if you have never witnessed it! It doesn’t exist or ever existed right? Neighborhoods in cities have taken down basketball hoops because they didn’t like who they saw in their neighborhood.
Why is everything Liberal if you disagree with it?

PLEASE everyone, click on End Wokeness that is in comment #1, read a few of their comments and postings, and you will feel like puking. What a bunch of uptight twats, and childish immature ramblings, and there are those who enjoy posting their tripe?

I am serious, if anyone wants to know what End Wokeness is all about, just go to the link provided in the OP and you will think you have entered one of the most vile sites on the internet.

JAYSUS!! I can't believe people are like this. EVERYTHING spooks them. The underbelly of human nature on display.

For further proof, pay attention to how they react to THIS comment. It will be very revealing.

The "U" must mean something offensive.

Who knows. It's hard to keep up with what is offensive and what isn't to certain people nowadays.
It isn't offensive nowadays. That's why you are all here wondering why they took them down.

They were offensive like 20 years ago but the cultural context of them has been lost. But the point is that they were only put up to be anti-gay and now they are taking them down. Its a non-story.

The signs aren't homophobic. The process that led to them being put in was driven by homophobia.
A "No U-Turn" sign is installed in areas where making a U-Turn might be a traffic hazard, where it is not considered safe to make such turns.
And that should be the only reason a municipality installs them.
Obviously it took a state approved process to question the legality of putting them up in the first place and city apparently agreed that there was no safety reason why they should be there.

What's your problem with that?
Also, if anyone did wish to see them remain in place, I guarantee you the city had to allow those people the opportunity to speak and have their opposition heard and noted.
Either no one showed up, or they did not offer a good reason to keep them.

Do you also have a problem with that, too?
Lastly, do YOU LIVE IN the affected area?

OK. The traffic rules, presumably, are for everyone, not just gays.
Right. That applied to everyone, not just gays.
Besides cruising being a euphemism for looking for gay sex, no they aren't.

It was no different than the no loitering laws that were put in place but almost exclusively enforced against Black people.

Silver Lake removes last traffic signs of its anti-gay past

The anti-gay signs first put up in the 1990s read 'No U-turn' to discourage men from cruising in the Silver Lake neighborhood.

Now locals celebrate it's removal.

The very last sentence in RED should tell you all you need to know...the residents who LIVE there WANTED the signs taken down and considering the fact that the signs are there to serve the safety needs OF those residents, it makes perfect sense that those residents used the democratic process to challenge the existence of those signs and the city agreed that they were not necessary for traffic safety reasons and so therefore they were removed.

The OP @Lutherf has a problem with democracy, which is not surprising in the least.

Gay people do something.

Bigoted douchebag on Twitter fumes about it.

Mindless conservative drones rush to message boards to proclaim OUTRAGE!!!!!!!

Can't wait to see what that **** Chaya Raichik thinks about it.

I have to wonder why it took 12-13 years after being voted on. It's one little area, right?
Couple city workers, couple hours.
No one said a thing about the remaining ones until now?

I mean, it's not liberal because I disagree with it, LA , and CA in general is known as being Liberal.
