NFL Pick'Em Game 2016!

Bears backup QB Hoyer suffered a broken arm last night at Green Bay. Done for the season. Bears are down to backup QB #3.

This pretty much describes the Bears season- if they dont get a QB in the draft I will be mighty pissed off.

Not true, but that seems to be the going opinion, at least here. But the Patriots aren't the same team on the road as at home, which is why they do well in the playoffs and benefit from a weak AFC East division they always seem to win. And on the road, even Vegas will tell you that the Pats are a questionable favourite to play. The casino books are probably salivating at all the chalk money pouring in on the Pats going against a conference powerhouse and rival on the road, even with Big Ben out. Landry's no slouch, when he's prepared for the game and not just tossed in, and the Steelers still have an abundance of big game players who with the proper preparation can win this game outright. Not sure what the weather forecast is, but if it's rainy and cool, Le' Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams might just be able to shred the NE defense and keep Brady off the field.

A lot of ifs there, but we Steelers' fans don't concede to anyone.

You may be right on that.

True. I have picked NE to win because I think it's likely and I'm so far behind in this game I have to gain some ground. I'd be happy if NE loses. I'm worried that if the Steelers get behind, they'll play hell catching NE with a good ground game. The defense will have to stop Brady, and given the number of key players out, I have my doubts they can. They'll have to find a pass rush - something they haven't done all season so far. We'll see.

thanks for the PM da60....

been a busy week....trying to decide what to do after being told that my services were no longer needed at my old job...well, not exactly no longer needed....i am now a contract employee teaching my replacement for the next 6 months

being paid well for my time, but being replaced by someone 20 years younger and she will get 60% of what i made....she isnt ready, but that is probably a biased position on my part....no one really ever is

anyway...thanks for the reminder.....

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm retired early, with a nice pension, and never lost a job, working the final 30 years of my career at one place but I always dreaded what I'd do and what would happen if one day someone walked into my office and told me that my services were no longer needed. I hope you're able to find a new placement quickly, and one that is an improvement as well. Best of luck going forward.

That's illegal.

Have you contacted a labor attorney?

Sorry to hear that. Here's hoping your prospects are even better when you finish there. If it's any consolation, I've known plenty of architects and engineers that have been told on a Friday morning to clear out their stuff and be gone by noon. At least you have some time to explore your prospects. Hang in there.

Proving age discrimination is actually very hard according to my attorneys

Especially in an at will employment state....

My attorney has advised me that we could proceed, but our chances are 50/50 at best

I will take the severance contract....train my replacement, and chalk it up to experience

I made a lot of money working for the man over the last decade....and he is paying me quite a bit just to train my replacement

It could be much worse.....

Well, at least I can say I had the lead for one week - looks like the magic is gone and my picks are crashing down to earth this week.

You're probably not the only one. I know I have at least five losses already.

Yes, very sorry to hear about this.

Wishing you dealing with it well and something better in your future.

I have a close friend who's suffered what really looks like age discrimination.

He was put on contract at the same rate, so his effective take-home was less after he now has to pay for all of his FICA.

I hear you -- it's really irritating too.

Hang in there.

No team is the same on the road at home, that being said the one loss this year was at home and our regular season record on the road is one of the best in the NFL.

Steelers are going to lose this game but it's not because the Patriots were a superior or better team. Steelers, without Roethlisberger just haven't had the finesse to finish their drives and a cheesy holding penalty took away a clear Steelers touchdown in the second quarter that would have tied the game and reversed the momentum significantly. Two missed field goals, that missed touchdown, and an interception in the end zone are all the result of missing Roethlisberger's touch in the red zone. Patriots should be happy they dodged a bullet and I'm really proud and satisfied with the way the Steelers played, all things considered.

Dodged a bullet . Been in the lead all game only thing that's kept you in it is your pass rush.
If it had been big Ben out there the game plan would of been different and your coaching staff would have still been coward's.

Did you watch the game??

What pass rush??

The Steelers had an entirely different defensive game plan against the Patriots tonight which included ZERO blitzes up until the time I turned it off with about 2 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. After the first couple of possessions for the Patriots, the defense finally started to click and was pretty effective, but there was pretty much no pass rush.

And yes, the game plan on offense would have been different if Big Ben had been in there - many more of the Steelers offensive forays into the Pats end of the field would have ended in touchdowns and not field goal tries, made and missed.

So yes, you dodged a bullet by Big Ben being on the sidelines.

What pass rush? Brady was scrambling all game, he was forced to run numerous times for 1st downs.
As for big Ben being out, my pats went 3-1 with backup qbs. No excuses play like champions

Big Ben had noting to do with the Steelers sorry defense trying to cover Rob Gronkowski or them trying to stop their former backup Rb in Blount.

This is a Steelers team that has been dominate at home and they choked big time.

Brady was scrambling because the Steelers had his receivers covered. Eventually, if a QB holds on to the ball long enough, he either gets sacked or he runs. That's why he scrambled - he had no open receivers most of the game because the Steelers didn't blitz and had no pass rush. Get it?? It's why Brady had 220 yards passing on the day when he usually has 350 or more.

As for playing with backups, the Pats had all summer to game plan for their subs and knew exactly how long Brady would be out. Not the same - but I don't expect a Pats fan to know or concede anything other than Patriots great, others suck.

Steelers had a great game plan to beat the Pats and the only reason they didn't is because Jones didn't have the finesse needed to finish off scoring drives and their place kicker missed two important field goals. Well done, Pats survived and won.

Once again Bucky, you show your fan boy ignorance and haven't a clue about this specific game or sports in general. Weren't you claiming Brady and the Pats were going to destroy the Steelers and win by 40 plus points?? Steelers weren't dominated at all - Steelers had more passing yards and total yards gained in the game than the Pats did. Only difference was, as I've said above, Jones didn't have the experience and the finesse to finish drives and too many times the Steelers ended possessions in scoring position and came away with nothing. That was the game, period.

You really should pay more attention to a game and put the pom poms down, if you even watch, which I doubt you do.

Considering the Pats played a team with a ton of injuries in key positions, your Pats looked pretty mediocre.
