This might get interesting. Cook County courthouses all have metal detectors manned by Cook County Sheriffs. It's a slow single file individual one-by-one admittance process.
You step up to the metal detector, remove any items on your person, including metal belt buckles, putting these items in a tray where they examine the try contents by hand.
Then you proceed through the detector. If it doesn't go off, you are then allow through the second security barricade. If the detector goes off as you pass through the detectors, the Sheriffs use a hand-held wand detector over your body - to identify the item causing the detector to go off.
I don't see how ICE can get through, unless they were to storm the blockade en masse in a firefight.

Usually there are long lines and at least 3-4 Sheriffs present immediately at the detectors, along with a second security line of several Sheriffs behind that in front of the inner doors behind the detectors. In between the two Sheriffs' security lines, are Sheriffs screening those who set-off the detectors, where they use hand-held wands.
