From the Billings Gazette:

Sometimes, you have to admit you're wrong.

And, we were wrong.

We said that things couldn't get much worse after the sub par presidency of George W. Bush.

But, President Barack Obama's administration has us yearning for the good ol' days when we were at least winning battles in Iraq.

The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal polls show that Americans are giving Obama lower marks than in 2006 when Iraq was going poorly for Bush and a tepid response to Hurricane Katrina sunk Bush's ratings.

It's not that popularity polling should be the final or even best measure of a president. There is that old saw that points out there's a difference between doing what is right and what is popular.

For us, though, it's the number of bungled or blown policies in the Obama administration which lead us to believe Obama has earned every bit of an abysmal approval rating.

Let's recap. To summarize:

NSA spying - Obama has done nothing to secure civil liberties and rights.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq.

Killing coal and other fossil fuels before any alternatives are available.

Trading 5 dangerous terrorists for a deserter.

The VA scandal. It is destroying the people's faith in the ability of the government to get health care right.

"Obamacare has become synonymous with boondoggle." Whether it works out or not it is destroying people's faith in government's ability to do anything right.

Promises of transparency and a reality of lies, coverups and stonewalling. "Far worse than Nixon."

And that doesn't even begin to enumerate all the problems. They might have mentioned the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, the corruption at the IRS, the alienation of our European allies, the disrespect shown to Israel, the debacle at Benghazi which is in turn a result of the mishandling of Lybia, the awful mishandling of Syria, Iran on the cusp of nuclear weapons capability, "leading from behind", the Keystone pipeline, flying 200 people around at a cost of millions and millions to go golfing all the time, attempts to govern without Congress, by executive fiat or by overextending the authority of government agencies, only to be slapped down by the courts again and again, 13 times so far by a unanimous vote of the SCOTUS.

In my humble opinion the worst president ever. At least until Hillary comes along.

That's the kicker. These people that voted in Obama, most of them will go right out there and vote for Hillary.

Indeed. Party ideology over moral principle.

Like all the people that thought Romneycare was different from Obamacare. Or that Romney would abolish the NSA. Or not send weapons into Syria. :lamo

Do you really think the world was a better place with Gadafi or Khadafi or Qudafi, or however it's spelled? In Syria, is it that he didn't support Assad or that he didn't support ISIS? Hasn't Iran been on the cusp of nuclear capability since long before he took office?

I'm not his biggest fan, but lets at least not blame him for everything. Khadafi is dead, and I'm not shedding a tear over it. I guarantee you Reagan wouldn't be. Both sides in Syria are terrorists. Iran's been working on nukes for years - supposedly they were "on the cusp" 10 years ago.

The President has basically turned Libya, Syria, and Iraq over to the terrorists. In 2001 we started by wanting to eliminate terrorists havens. Now we've got more of them than ever. Obama did not lead in Libya and didn't take control of the situation. Same with Syria. And he turned Iraq over to the terrorists after we had control of the country. He's set to do the same with Afghanistan -- Al Qaeda will have a freeking califate to operate from, never mind a haven.

As for Iran, what do you think? Considering his foreign policy chops up to now do you think the President has anything effective in mind?

The Polish President put it best: Having the US as an ally is "worthless."

While we're at it, I'd like to retract my endorsement of President Coolidge.

I won't argue that point but, voting for the same person twice expecting better results is simply stupid.

"Stupid is as stupid does."

Then a lot of conservatives were also stupid re-electing Bush as well as a lot of liberals being stupid voting for Obama twice.

The Obama voters were not only stupid but, ideologically enslaved.

What a vicious circle.

Again, you are describing BOTH Bush voters and OBama voters. Not sure where you are seeing a difference there.

I seriously doubt that this will change anything in Washington, D.C.

But it might cause a lot of people who read this paper to start ignoring the editorials.

So am I suppose to get excited and jump up and down over the Billings Gazette withdrawing their endorsement of Obama back in 2008. Endorsements mean little and in Billings they mean even less.

If it had been Romney and the situation was the same, he would have stepped down by now. IN DISGRACE

This says it all:

"Promises of transparency and a reality of lies, cover ups and stonewalling. "Far worse than Nixon.""

Obama is a big government corporatist, like Bush before him.

If Romney were elected, we'd be in near identical catastrophe and he would not have stepped down. Romney is a big government corporatist.

Obama is a big government corporatist, like Bush before him.

But more of a hypocrite too - Bush never whined about "fat cats" and then took their millions for his campaign. Bush also never claimed to be the defender of the poor and 99% while hiring lobbyists and getting in bed with Unions. You're right of course, I guess Bush was more quite about it and .... I kind like that better than diarrhea mouth Obama.

Though Bush did run his mouth against nation building, out of control spending, and gross expansion of government. So again...not so different.

They all run their mouth about something, it's just Obama's runs unusually well and often.

It's the Billings Gazette, they're now speaking to the choir. It may have one of the larger readerships in MT, but that ain't saying much.

Well, they, along with every American, certainly have the right to change their opinion about anyone and anything.

But, as I've said that might cause some people to start ignoring what they say.
