But the point being - such tyrannical treatment truly does need to stop. When the tyranny gets to the point that it takes precedence over reason and common sense, something's genuinely wrong - and that's what's going on here - heck, even in this very thread the vicious sputum of some are so far over the top as to render anything of reason they might have to share utterly inconsequential.

The only reason and common sense is to get vaccinated and do the very basics to protect one's self, unless one has a medical problem recognized by medical professionals.

This is like refusing to eat vegetables and then being mad at bullies when you have a stomach ache.

Sorry, but we gave the vaccine deniers plenty of time to come around. For months many said, Oh, their just waiting to make up their minds. They've had all the time they need. The FDA has fully authorized the first vaccine. There is no longer an excuse. It's the vaccine refusers who are prolonging this pandemic. Causing school systems to once again shut down. And now we see with the August jobs report that delta is once again slowing the economic growth.

They are not getting tested even if they develop symptoms. Especially if they have symptoms.

Why?

Because they feel bullied and stigmatized already and they see how people are ridiculed when they become infected. Why bring attention or be required to report an infection? Easier to take Dayquill and suck it up.

The younger ones have been taught to avoid bullies so they avoid being tested. The older ones were taught to stand up to bullies so they refuse being tested.

Only recently are we being told so clearly that the bullies know best so we have a duty to submit to their wishes. If the authoritarians succeed in having us internalize that lesson, they will have made goid all their efforts during this pandemic.

The behavior described in the OP (the response to so-called bullying) reminds me of the behavior of young children when they get tired of following directions. They need to be coaxed and maybe offered immediate rewards to get them to agreeable change their minds.
