So, we learn from the chapter titles that the book is revisionist history. Those of us who find real history important and study that history are appropriately saddened.
 
No comment about the Civil War.

But today's thoughtful people should refrain from demonizing what the South did after the Civil War -- IMHO.

They were living under conditions that no one today could possible imagine.

In any case, this is 2023.

This is a completely different nation.

The sky is the limit for all groups, especially that group that gets all the sympathy among "liberals" (and the current person sitting in the Oval Office).

We were too soft on them and should have stamped out confederate ideology for good. We would have avoided a lot of problems since.

SCOTUS should have stepped in the moment that jim crow laws were getting started. Also, carpet bagging (northern investors) should have been allowed to continue unfettered.

Any ideology like that is mostly attracted to power, deny them that power and it will dwindle on its own.
