Newsflash: The popular vote doesn't decide presidential elections in the US.

Nobody claimed it does, but the electoral college doesn't represent the will of the people.

So when people continue to act like Republicans in charge is what America wants, when for a generation now it's been pretty much example after example of Democrats winning the popular vote, it gets a bit tiring.

The Senate realizes and more importantly McConnell realizes that all he has left is the facade of a functioning Senate and unfortunately for Moscow Mitch, if anything this process is ripping apart the last little fig leaf he has. There well be no motion to move to an immediate vote in the Senate unless Mitch wants a show vote defeating a motion to an immediate vote so he can make up some of the ground he is losing minute by minute.

Plus at this point if there is no trial Mitch will have to flip flop again as he has already said "there will be a trial".

You boys on the Right have been predicting WRONG on each of step of this process. The only part you likely have right is the eventual outcome in the Senate. But no, a successful motion to immediately vote Impeachment up or down without trial won't happen.

In a very wise and shrewd move, Nancy Pelosi is not sending the two articles of impeachment to the Senate. Why? Because she doesn't trust Mitch McConnell to run a fair trial in the Senate. Pelosi wants guarantees from McConnell that it will be a real, impartial trial with real witnesses.

I'm going to stand by my original prediction -- Trump will be removed from office by the Senate. We have not heard all of the evidence yet. If John Bolton and Mick Mulvaney testify, Trump will not survive this.

No Republican in the Senate wants to go down in the history books as being responsible for keeping this dangerous, corrupt despot in office.

This will be the end of Trump.

The two parties are nullifying each other. The key to any near term election is the Independents who can swing one way or the other. As it stands, the Republicans have been trying to hold onto a portion of the Independents with one hand on the cliff edge and they are down to a couple of knuckles on the last finger on that cliff edge. Holding onto Minority platforms with a Minority of the Electorate ain't a great strategy. But that is all they got.

If there is no trial at all, the Dems will swing the Independents the wrong way IMO.

That said my admiration for Pelosi always pretty high grows by the day. She has played all of them like her own personal group of violins, Trump, McConnell, McCarthy, the whole bunch. She knows how far to pay out the rope before she pulls it back.

imo, the House did a fair job at best of putting the Article of Impeachment together. Didn't the House refuse some of the witnesses the Republican's wanted to testify? Now in the Senate the Democrats are upset because their list of "witnesses" are not being considered.

The polling data I've seen says that independents already think, by a small margin, that Trump should be impeached & removed from office.

Any Senate "trial" would be a total sham, what with most Republicans already announcing how they'd vote, McConnell actually consulting with the White House about how to proceed, etc. I think most independents know this.
