Nancy Pelosi Is Spending Shutdown at Hawaii Resort

Chuck can give the 9 votes needed to reopen the government within 24 hours.

Chuck literally cannot do that right now. He has no authority to call the senate to session early.

And in that 'context' did Trump say when or how Mexico would pay for the Wall?

No. He didn't have a plan for anything. He just said he would win and it would happen so fast. He said he was the only person who could make America great again. He never said how or when about anything. Enough people fell for it. It's pathetic.

The random worker isn't making financial decisions for the whole chain. The Senate is ON CALL they have a bill that would reopen the government and can hold a vote on it within 24 hours. Chucky and Nancy don't to sign it because its bad for their power.

No Chuck and Nancy are doing what their constituents want them to do....why in the world Trump and Republicans think they speak for the people is beyond me.
You won't vote for Chuck or Nancy no matter what they do...so why should they give a flying **** what you think....that's the presidents attitude and it's about time someone had the balls to stand up for the silent 60%.

Because the people follow the Constitution and the Constitution says Trump is the President and the Republicans are in charge of 2 out of 3 branches of government. That is why. The majority of the people want a compromise.

Well then he was speaking metaphorically because as you know context is everything.

All Chuck has to do is tell Mitch he has the 9 extra votes. Then the rest will be done. Mitch told all the senators they could be expected to return for a vote on 24 hour notice.

Spare us the bull****. Republicans own this shutdown completely, until the next Congress starts in early January Republicans still control Congress and are entirely at fault for this.
You are correct. For 2018 the republicans have the reigns of the stagecoach. And even Trump told Chuck Schumer at the White House that he would take the blame.

There's plenty of blame to go around, always has been, always will be.

*Democrats Supported the U.S. Border Fence Before They Were Against It*

https://www.google.com/amp/s/freebe...-democrats-supported-mexico-border-fence/amp/

What is it about many of our conservative friends that lack the ability to understand equivalence and/or lack the education to see through Fox News (or in this case, the Free Beacon's) talking points?

The poster is finding inconsistency with a political position taken on the Secure Fence Act of 2006 and 'the Wall' of 2018, making the assumption that the two matters have some equivalence, when they do not. First, its been 12 years, what was true then is different now.

1. We actually had a border crossing problem in the middle of the previous decade, but it has been substantially handled. Illegal border crossings have declined 80% in the past 15 years. The number of illegals living in this country is down 20%. It is no longer the problem it was.... and we got from there to here without a wall. Being in favor of a wall then and not one now are not inconsistent positions, as one could have advocated a wall was worth the cost when illegal border crossings were 5X what they are today, but now sees the problem as under control and the wall no longer worth it.

2. The Fence Act of 2006 is not about a WALL. In 2006, we were only talking about a fence. A fence is a much less obtrusive and less expensive option than a wall.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Fence_Act_of_2006

3. The Fence Act was intended to be a step in comprehensive immigration reform. The Fence Act was signed into law, congress never got around to immigration reform. The seem to have lost their credibility on stepped legislation. Similarly, a congressman would be foolish to support a fence or a wall without completion of comprehensive immigration reform. Don't piecemeal; establish a full policy and implement it!

One could be for a fence and not for a wall in 2006; and even more likely be for a fence in 2006 and not for a wall in 2018. They are not inconsistent positions. One can also be against a wall and for secure borders, they are not the same thing. Lots of people in favor of secure borders think the fence is not only a waste of money, but is counter-productive as it sucks resources away from far more effective measures of border security.

So much for Democrats caring about this shutdown....If it were so important, they would be in DC working on finding a solution....Not, living it up like the rich and famous.

Trump was trying to bully her with this shut down. He ended up shooting himself in the foot. She has no reason to get all worked up about him shooting himself in the foot. At some point she has to take a break from watching him shoot himself in the foot so much, over and over. It gets pretty old after a while.

1. Who died and made you the judge between figurative and literal speech?
2. Did Trump say Mexico would pay before or after the Wall is built.
3. You assume too much.

I guess Individual-1 wasn’t speaking literally when he said “ISIS is defeated;” or when he told us that he made a great deal with Kim Jung Un, to end their nuclear program; or when he told us that he made a great deal with China on trade; or when he told us he already has a plan that makes health care cheaper, covers everyone, and covers more procedures.

Nancy pulls Chucky's strings. They don't do anything without the other.

You’re comments are completely unhinged and deranged at this point.

Was Ryan working?
Yeah. Working on those muscles.

She & her family are on vacation & on their dime. Not burning $$$ on AF1 to go to Mar-a-Lago.

How would you like the President to fly? General ticket on a commercial carrier? Pelosi may or may not be "on her dime"....While I don't have any proof that she used any government funds to take her vacation, you don't know that she didn't.

Please explain how the House Democrats are currently causing the government shutdown. You realize that in the House, the current majority party, which would be the Republicans, have total control of the House agenda.

If only an elementary civics lesson were required before bitching.

After thinking about this for a bit this morning, I have decided to place the blame on McConnell for this delay....The House did it's job, and passed a bill including the Border wall funding, and it is tabled in the Senate. So, we don't need Pelosi. Although, the optics of her in a luxury resort in Hawaii, while government workers are not getting paid, is pretty bad optics for her...Just as, if it were Trump taking a vacation during this, our friends on the left would be having a hissy fit.

But, McConnell needs to do his damned job, and force these Democrats to go on record with their objections....And none of this non philabuster, philabuster....Make them get up there and talk.

Please explain how the House Democrats are currently causing the government shutdown.

It's real simple...While initially, the shutdown is on the President, and Republican's who have had the power to get this done before now. But, the longer this goes on, with Democrats having leverage to make a deal, and instead looking to play politics with this rather than getting down to business and striking a deal...

If Democrats look to be like this throughout their term this go around, it's going to be a short tenure this time.

You realize that in the House, the current majority party, which would be the Republicans, have total control of the House agenda.

I'll let this little attack go, seeing as I am confident you know better.

When it’s the oppo, the burden of proof is on them. You’ve been howling about Mueller for how long, now?

I'll remember that in future disagreements when you make outrageous claims...Thanks.

Now you wanna talk about thec Constuition...give me a ****ing break!
And your wrong to top it all off...Republicans control 3 of 3 branches of government as of now.
No where in the constuition does it say any branch of government should just give the president what he wants so he won't shut the government down. A compromise is not one side giving in to another. It is both sides giving something up....what are you willing to give up?

You have me confused with another; happens all the time........Stay safe tonight, HNY!

Trump has already offered to cut his request in half to $2.5.....Now it's your turn.
