OK, this dog is great, other than being the most disgusting glutton in the world. We do everything possible to help her control her weight, she's still somewhat portly. She is totally a food oriented scavenger whenever she gets half a chance.

Yesterday I bought some organic lawn fertilizer (pricey stuff) and spread it over the grass, and the G-damn dog has been out there like a vacuum cleaner eating it! She is utterly disgusting in her gluttony. :doh

We had an Aussie that was the same way. We finally ended up putting him on a weight-control diet dog food, and it helped, but he still managed to stay a little on the hefty side.:D If he hadn't had the acreage here to run on, I can't imagine how big he would have been.

This eating lawn fertilizer is the last straw. I wonder what's in the stuff?

It just goes to show, gluttony must be a genetic characteristic. She's hiding upstairs now because I called her in and yelled at her.

The organic fert probably has poop in it. You know how dogs like to eat poop.

On a serious note- maybe you could try a high-quality mineral supplement for her. I've noticed that in people, those who are constantly hungry often need minerals. Just a thought.

One time my Golden got into a used baby diaper at the park. Oh god that stank

The dog isn't a poop eater actually. Maybe because I've trained her not to eat horse-s88t while we walk on the trails? But she does pass it by, even when she doesn't know I'm looking.

I'm am prejudiced against gluttony, btw. It irks me that my dog is such a pig.

She thought it was her best perfume ever.

I believe you.:) When our Aussie got his twice per year bath and clip for summer, he would immediately go outside and find the nearest turd, and roll in it.

Seriously- check on the minerals idea.

I will. I have a Border Collie/ Australian Shepherd cross, btw. He's on the same diet, but is the opposite of a glutton. The vet told us that Labs tend to be very food oriented.

I suspect that the retriever tendency makes them a bit orally fixated, but I'm not a dog psychologist.;)

OK, I'm sticking to chemical fertilizer from now on. The ingredients include hydolized meat meal and bone meal. I did use weed and feed on the areas of the lawn that have invasive weeds.

How ridiculous is that to use meat meal on your lawn?
