You cannot ban guns without repealing the 2nd Amendment. And, you cannot ban someone from owning guns unless they were convicted of violent crimes or legally shown to be mentally unsound.

I imagine you agree that felons should not have guns. And, I doubt you'd want John Hinkley to be able to go buy one the minute he moves back into his mother's house in a few months.
