For them. How do make the same typo in the thread title, and the first line of the post? That's some kind of sloppy I can't imagine ever doing.

Would it blow your mind that a majority of people would like a system where they are assured income, housing etc, in exchange for work they don't have much choice in? That's the lot of most people in capitalism too. Starting their own business, or investing their way to fortune, is just a pipe dream for them. They're not willing to risk the roof over their head or food on their children's table, for the chance of being really rich.

Maybe rather than deprecating the Russian people (who you inaccurately label "Muscovites") you should make some point about how generations of oppression by an un-elected elite, primed Russians for being ruled by an increasingly dictatorial Putin. Russians are the victims there, Putin is the villain, remember?

1. I have read that many ordinary people in Eastern Europe did miss the security of socialism/communism.

2. In theory, at least, everyone was guaranteed a job, a place to live, and medical care.

3. To suddenly take those things away would shock anyone.

4. For example, if my Medicare were suddenly taken away, I would be hysterical.

5. I personally like the theory of socialism. I want to be guaranteed a job and place to live and medical care. I believe that all human beings are entitled to those three basics.

6. I have, however, noticed that socialism/communism does not work. That is why, I guess, China discarded it.

7. I get the feeling that the younger people in Russia do NOT miss communism, for they never lived under it. So they accept capitalism as a fact of life.

8. We in the United States have a so-called "mixed economy." That seems to be the best system that human minds have come up with so far.

a. The Democrats seem to want to introduce more socialism.

b. The Republicans say they want to hold the line, but they seem to be overly friendly toward those who are already super wealthy.
 
The Soviet era was their nation at its "strongest." So therefore they have a nostalgia for it.

Goes to show you that people will be entirely brainwashed by nationalism even to their own detriment, the Russians are not alone in this.

You're a racist, did you realize that?

If there's one thing I would ask of you, it's to stop saying "Muscovite" when you mean "Russian". It's particularly relevant in this thread, where you're talking about public opinion in Russia. It's not clear (absent any source) whether you mean public opinion in Moscow or public opinion in Russia as a whole.

Treating all Russians as serfs of Moscow is participating in the authoritarianism you pretend to despise. That makes you look bad to me.

The Russian people have been subservient to the government for centuries in order to survive.

They are still subservient today because they know Putin will never allow a free society.
