1. I have read that many ordinary people in Eastern Europe
did miss the security of socialism/communism.
2. In theory, at least, everyone was guaranteed a job, a place to live, and medical care.
3. To suddenly take those things away would shock anyone.
4. For example, if my Medicare were suddenly taken away, I would be hysterical.
5. I personally like the theory of socialism. I want to be guaranteed a job and place to live and medical care. I believe that all human beings are entitled to those three basics.
6. I have, however, noticed that socialism/communism does

7. I get the feeling that the younger people in Russia do NOT miss communism, for they never lived under it. So they accept capitalism as a fact of life.
8. We in the United States have a so-called "mixed economy." That seems to be the best system that human minds have come up with so far.
a. The Democrats seem to want to introduce more socialism.
b. The Republicans
say they want to hold the line, but they seem to be overly friendly toward those who are already super wealthy.
