Multiple Texas Farms Shut Down After ‘Almost 100%’ Of Workforce Vanishes Overnight

I suspect Trump is going after illegal invaders before going after Americans. Priorities.
I imagine this clown administration is not going to hurt their big money friends.

And that’s what it boils down to.

TACO is already waffling to industries crying about their cheap labor.

Profits over people. The American way.

I confess to not reading all the posts but it is important to remember that a huge number of migrants, likely a majority, are in the US pending amnesty claims. After a certain amount of time, these migrants are actually granted work permits pending their hearings. Most are working legally.
That system could use improvements too. While those people are working legally, many still have illegal status in terms of citizenship. We're seeing that firsthand with this administration grabbing them at their check-ins. There should be expedited programs to help those who follow our laws even if they committed the misdemeanor of crossing the border illegally.

Agreed, I just wanted to point out that in many, many cases the employers are not breaking the law nor is the employee.

THat is backwards.

If illegals couldnt get jobs they would self deport.

I suspect Trump doesn't care that you feel bad for the illegal invaders (regardless of how you try to dress up this fact), and will keep going after them.

I've used this analogy before: that's like treating the wounds festering from a cancerous mass while ignoring the mass. Addressing a symptom and ignoring the underlying systemic issue won't lead to meaningful change.

So you cant adress my point?

The point is that harsh punishment and deportation can work as deterrents for future illegals. Pretending that it doesn't because Joe Biden's wide-open border didn't work is silly and just an attempt by the left to dress up their love for the illegal invaders (and likely also their hatred of entrepreneurs and businessmen).

What a load of malarkey. There's no invasion occurring. Our country is designed around illegal immigrants bolstering our economy. If you want that to change, we need real reform instead of EOs that look tough on the surface.

No, that's not how the country is designed. That's how some businesses take advantage of lawlessness to evade taxes.

Eastern Colorado ‘ranchers’ may turn on Boebert as the gap in CO-04 keeps closing.

You clearly do not understand the underlying, systemic issues and are instead repeating rhetoric used to trick voters into voting for the system to remain skewed. Wake up, do some research, and try to understand the difference between EOs and legislature. Those businesses are taking advantage because the system allows them to, not because they've found some loopholes that couldn't be easily solved by Congress.

Even better would be to just have your employer send your entire paycheck straight to the government, and let them decide how much of that money you deserve to get back.
The tax code does that.

Oh yeah, now I remember. You suggest "a stiff fine" for those who employ illegals. In other words, you just want to make it the cost of doing business.
Try to combine ALL of what I wrote into memory before making such a claim.

shrug...up to them, but they could have started a long time ago with following the law.

How fares the guy whose competitors have cheaper labor?

It's an issue that a single farmer cannot face or fix on their own.

Lol. Shut down US farms and tariff produce from Mexico.

Winning!
A lot of folks who voted for Trump last fall didn't know that tariffs and mass deportations would lead to higher prices.

the same businesses who make political donations so the politicians will design laws to the donors' benefit

there's a closed loop between the donor class and the politicians

we ain't in it

that's kinda on them since they are adults and all

Maybe regressives will fill those jobs.

Then maybe they should talk to other farmers?

You wrote what you wrote. Now you want to backpedal. Unfortunately, everyone here can read what you wrote. Own it. You don't want to stop employers from hiring illegals, just like Trump doesn't, either.

Then maybe they should talk to other farmers?

LOL

think about where the rubber meets the road for a minute

How does that conversation go?
"Hey fellow farmer dude, how about you spend more money to make less money? Please?"

n a stunningly swift overnight change, some Texas farm operations had to shut down after losing virtually all of their workforce, an exodus triggered by the increase in immigration raids and increased enforcement. The ripple effects of these raids are the gift that keeps on giving and will be felt nationwide: unpicked crops are now left unharvested, livestock were left untended, and rural economies are on edge.

This story isn’t just a tale of woe for Texan farms; it's a warning for American agribusiness, food prices, and the communities that keep food on our plates. So, let's examine what effect these raids have on agriculture, livestock, workers, and the American public.

Expect higher prices in grocery stores all over the country...
Dumb trash from Tex-ass getting what they voted for.

They deserve to go broke, and they are not worthy of any sympathy.
