n a stunningly swift overnight change, some Texas farm operations had to shut down after losing virtually all of their workforce, an exodus triggered by the increase in immigration raids and increased enforcement. The ripple effects of these raids are the gift that keeps on giving and will be felt nationwide: unpicked crops are now left unharvested, livestock were left untended, and rural economies are on edge.

This story isn’t just a tale of woe for Texan farms; it's a warning for American agribusiness, food prices, and the communities that keep food on our plates. So, let's examine what effect these raids have on agriculture, livestock, workers, and the American public.

Maybe those farmers should have been proactive about their employment practices instead of hiding their heads in the sand. I mean, it's not like they didn't know their illegal alien employees would be targeted for deportation.

Self Deport? Trump is winning!

We are all connected.

Everyone will be hurt. Not just the farmers.

Trump can fix this problem for his idiots by declaring that higher prices = MAGA, because he invented MAGA, or something.

Or when Bill Clinton used it. God, they're such idiots.

The question we should be asking is, What needs be done to resolve this issue permanently?

Where is the issue? Farmers are hiring people to do difficult work at a bargain rate. Plus, the workers are earning 3 to 5 times more than they would at home. On top of all that, the consumers benefit from the lower retail prices due to the low labor cost. Let's remember that businesses exist to satisfy consumer demand. If they don’t, they go bust. Please explain how consumer demand can be better satisfied by "resolving the issue", whatever that means.

Good thing we went on a massive bulk shopping trip today.
I'm gonna be eating popcorn and laughing at all those rough tough rugged Texas folks.

The employers were hiring these guys because they didn't pay taxes on the wages. So yeah, it was cheap, for the employer and employee. The taxpayer picked up the tab for unpaid taxes and social services.

Groceries are going to get even more expensive now. Thanks, tRump.

Despite all the good news that has recently happened thanks to Trump, and despite your general obliviousness - which is genuine in my opinion, I am willing to award you a temporary MAGA-pass (50% off a red hat) in the hope you will eventually better yourself.

MAGA.

What should they have done?

Stayed true to their promise to go after illegals with criminal records instead of launching a steroid version of Operation Wetback (1953) where they nabbed anyone, including Green Card holders, legal immigrants and even native born American citizens, denied them due process and acting like the American Gestapo.
Contrary to your normally whiny and false claims, Democrats don't have a problem with rounding up and deporting aliens with criminal records, particularly those with proven deep ties to gangs and cartels.
We don't have a problem with that and we even encourage it and appreciate when bad seeds are removed from the community.

Running around like thugs, masked and acting with impunity and threatening hardworking people and their families, leaving young kids stranded on the street as their parents are whisked away at their final citizenship or Green Card interviews is not taking criminals off the streets, it's Gestapo tactics designed to intimidate anyone from speaking out.

So...what should they have done?
You know damn well what they should have done, but you and those like you have a large chubby watching Kristi Noem cosplay as a tough bitch with her goons running around bodyslamming US senators and pointing guns at kids. You aren't interested in immigration, you're aroused by reality tee vee.

"No pain, no gain."
I would go with something like...
1. All non citizens who have entered the country illegally who self deport by exiting at a designated cross point would be given a document which would allow them, after a week or longer to use that document to gain legal entry as a non-immigrant, with permission to work, which could be extended every 3 months at an immigration office.
2.They would be given an electronic photo ID card for identification purposes, which must be carried at all times for identification and employment purposes.
3. Any non-citizen who does not possess such ID card OR a valid passport and current visa would be subject to due process involving either a fine and/or deportation as determined by ICE.
4. No one who entered or enters the U.S. illegally will be allowed to remain in the country until they have entered the country legally going forward.

In addition I would place signs along the border stating that "All those who enter illegally will be sought and deported, with no exceptions."

The only issues are, legal entry, and employment authorized.

But they're Mexican.

Everyone knows Trump takes a dim view of Mexico particularly as well as its people, so another solution must be found.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Mycroft was referring to the farmers, not the government. Here is the exchange:

Maybe those farmers should have been proactive about their employment practices instead of hiding their heads in the sand. I mean, it's not like they didn't know their illegal alien employees would be targeted for deportation.

To which I asked:

What should they have done?

Meaning what should the farmers have done. I was asking this question to show that if the farmers comply with the law, they make themselves and their customers worse off.

Their origin is of no importance, my solution would apply to Europeans, Asians, etc. who have entered the U.S. illegally, as well as those who entered legally but remain illegally, who in most instances would face a fine.

You would be roundly accused, and rightly so, over on Truth Social for being an advocate of The Great Replacement, but since we are on DP, I will have to personally make the accusation.

First resolve the illegal immigration issue, whereby non-immigrants can gain temporary legal entry to the U.S. with permission to work, and then impose stiff fines on employers who are found to employ any who have entered illegally.
I'd begin with an I-94 type smart card for such persons.

This is an intentional consequence of the threats and ICE swarms...self-deportation.

I wonder if they'll hire Americans.

I have zero sympathy for MAGA farmers who lose.
Of course Trump will bail them out with taxpayer money, which increases our debt.
But that’s okay to MAGA because debt is only bad when it happens under a Democrat President.

Very poor people who can't work to raise money to eat.

What is expected to happen to the crime rate in that situation? trump is causing the 'criminal' situation for immigrants if the crime rate rises.
