In fact, the whole thing could be in breach of a federal law because the United States Flag Code establishes important rules for the use and display of the stars and stripes, the flag of the United States. Under standards of respect and etiquette, it's made clear that the flag of the United States should never be used for any advertising purpose whatsoever. Yet that's precisely what Sarah Palin is doing. She's using the flag of the United States for her own financial purposes. She drapes herself in the stars and stripes and makes millions of dollars in the process. This has got nothing to do with the presidency and everything to do with filling her pockets.

Lol?

I don't even know where to begin laughing at this freaking idiot.

and people wonder why MSNBC's ratings are going down the toilet...

who the **** is Martin Bashir?

Wasn't he the guy who did the big Michael Jackson interviews during his child molestation scandal?

What does this guy really know about Palin anyway?

Let's not forget this people...

United States Flag Code - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The United States Flag Code establishes advisory rules for display and care of the flag of the United States. It is Chapter 1 of Title 4 of the United States Code (4 U.S.C. § 1 et seq). This is a U.S. federal law, but there is no penalty for failure to comply with it and it is not widely enforced — indeed, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that punitive enforcement would conflict with the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.

agreed
Palin has violated federally established flag etiquette while in search of financial renumeration

If some talking head said Palin was responsible for Hitler killing Jews you'd nod and agree. It's like that experiment with dogs, bells and food...

your selective viewing is on par with everything else you do here...

according to the US Supreme court, she can do whatever she wants with the flag, for whatever reasons.

allow me to prove how very wrong you are .... because i delight in embarrassing you publicly

palin was in NO way responsible for hitler killing jews

but palin is quite guilty of breaching federally established flag etiquette in her quest for dollars. and that deserves to be made known

So has Stephen Colbert...

...but you're not whining like a little girl about him, now are you

yep, he violated federally established flag etiquette, too

recognizing those breaches of flag etiquette is not dependent on one's political views but on their personal actions

pity i needed to explain that

guilty of something there is no penalty for, and that the Supreme Court has stated that punitive enforcement would conflict with the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.

Go find something important to whine about. You're boring us.

certainly she can. that was not the question. the issue was that she violated federal standards of flag etiquette while in a quest for personal enrichment. and yes she has. like her embrace of the alaska independence party, this too, should be recognized

in your view, palin's inappropriate actions, where they do not 'rise' to the point of being legally punishable, are things we should ignore

not gong to happen

Hmmmm. MSNBC?

Isn't that the prison channel?

yet you ignore everyone else that does it, as long as they are on your side of the political spectrum. Classy.

It's a damned flag. It only has symbolism because we decided to inject symbolism into it. I'm not going to judge somebody, politician or not, based on what they decide to do with a damned flag...or any representation of the flag. This is a non-issue and a waste of bandwidth.

nope
disrespect for our flag and for our nation is not something to be recognized based on the partisanship of the person who exhibits such disrespect

i know a number of combat veterans who have tatoos memorializing their service. many have the "soldier's cross" with a buddies name, others have a proud unit insignia, and many carry the flag.

maybe one day they will be as awesome and as patriotic as you.
