NBC News now claiming they have 3 inside/knowledgeable sources Confirming it's Paul Ryan with the Backdrop USS Wisconsin.
(Previous Credit in string Redress that backdrop)
But that is just it, the baggers are not going to say "Yes, cut my Medicare!", and the sensible moderate older voters will reject this nonsense without even thinking about it.Perhaps, but Ryan will bring the Tea Partiers onboard with gusto... if Romney picked some milquetoast VP, the truly rabid might stay home. As it is, with someone willing to gut Medicare like Ryan, they'll be out having Glen Beck rallies, storming townhalls, and having book bonfires, all to get out the really right wing vote
Keep in mind that the target right wing voter thinks they're rich too, or will be someday (soon)... so they have no problems with tax cuts for the rich.
Oh my
There goes granny off the cliff again
Hat tip to Redress for catching that connection earlier in the thread :thumbs:NBC News now claiming they have 3 inside/knowledgeable sources Confirming it's Paul Ryan with the Backdrop USS Wisconsin.

Kerry nearly won, The President is in a better position.....and this just sealed the deal.Yup. Get ready for the mother of all Republicans-want-to-kill-old-people-and-autistic-kids campaigns.
For those of you who thought 2004 was dirty? We ain't seen nothin' yet.
The Tea Partiers don't think they'll ever get Medicare (or Social Security). But that is just it, the baggers are not going to say "Yes, cut my Medicare!", and the sensible moderate older voters will reject this nonsense without even thinking about it.
True, but for the moderates and the independents. With this pick, Romney is no longer going for the moderate or independents -- he's gone full tilt hard right Fox News / Tea Party. The negatives far outweigh the positives.
Many of them are getting it NOW.The Tea Partiers don't think they'll ever get Medicare (or Social Security).
How did that work for McCain with Palin?True, but for the moderates and the independents. With this pick, Romney is no longer going for the moderate or independents -- he's gone full tilt hard right Fox News / Tea Party.

Love the selective outrage.
I think that is what I said, but it was VERY close, much closer than most realize....and as I said, the President is in a much better position....especially now.Kerry lost.
who said I was outraged? we have come to the point now where it's pretty obvious what kind of campaign the President wants to run.
OH MY GOD....someone gab THAT KOOLAID BEFORE HE DRINKS ANY MORE!!!!Medicare is already being cut - and Obama's plan actually cuts more from Medicare than Ryan's plan does. That's going to surprise a bunch of people, and it's definitely going to be part of the campaign.
Yup, Seniors LOVE hearing about cutting Medicare, that is a motivator.....to vote for the President!Ryan is the best at selling this portion of the GOP platform.
Well, I think Ryan is more intellectually agile than Palin, by an order of magnitude or three. But I'm sure that she brought out votes for McCain that otherwise would have stayed at home (of course she probably brought out as many or more votes against McCain that otherwise would have stayed at home).[...] How did that work for McCain with Palin?

I would have thought the safe bet for Romney was to pick a snooze candidate to not outshine his nerdy minimalist appeal. He clearly did not go that route . . . .
I'd bet it was offered to Christie but he turned it down. The only VP picks I was scared of were Christie and Rubio. [...]
We can only hope. However, I am not ruling out a Tea Party revolution -- they're still putting nutcases into the running and getting them elected (one in Texas recently beat the Perry-backed lieutenant governor in the Republican primary for a Senate election this fall). Never count the rabid out. That is my point, Ryan has huge negative numbers that overshadow the positives. In the long run, this will hurt far more than help.
