1. The defense spending cuts are occurring due to the fact that the debt committee couldn't make a decision on what to cut and thus automatic cuts went into action.

2. The Daily Mail is tabloid joke of a website. Please use more legitimate news sources next time.

Info can be found here (Cargo Drone Makes Debut In Afghanistan | Fox News)

Just because it's a British Daily? Fox News is the biggest joke.

Let's not turn this into a small Johnson contest... All news media is a joke, doesn't mean that they don't occasionally get facts straight.

I got a great idea, lets also make robots to replace the soldiers on the ground. Oh, and a great idea, let's name the company that makes these robots "skynet".

It's only a matter of time before they have dog fights with drone jets being operated by some kids remotely with the highest video scores.

Ender's Game.

The idea of automated wars is disturbing.

Seems pointless. . .honestly.

The hold and sway that war has is it's negative impact on people and society under the guise of the war machine.

Take away the people and societal impact and you're left with - nothing.

Pilotless is the future of everything not just military. It is in industry, medicine, media, etc. You can buy cars that park themselves. Mass transit systems that are pilotless are on the planning boards all over the world. The future of automobiles is one of interstates where you simply hop on and the highway drives you. The insurance industry loves it. Computerized killng reduces the number of casualties on the side that has the technology. As in all warfare prior victory goes to the side with the best technology barring any nutcase leader. Imagine battlefields today where statellites in space zoom in on troops and relay all the necessary information back to the firebases then the firebases destroy all personnel automatically without a single person pushing a button. We could be at war killing millions and our young peole could reamin at home watching TV. How cool is that!? Not even Dr. Strangleove could top that!

We're almost there with smart phones. Just wake up, sit in bed and remotely control every aspect of your life,, CRAP!

I'm still looking toward seeing the Fire Scout in widespread use:

No, not because it's British. Because it's really that bad. The Daily Mail really is worse than Fox News. (it's literally a tabloid)

On-topic: as a pilot, I hate drones with a passion. Not just because they threaten my job security, but because they don't have eyes and can't make decisions.

Damn I hated that book. Since when did little kids ruled the world by forums, and outsmarted experienced military men by playing video games? Unless there's some serious brain-enhancing drug designed for youngsters.

hehe. Interesting idea isn't it? Someday, a kid with a special knack might be flying one of these:
