Michael Flynn will invoke Fifth Amendment

WASHINGTON — Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn will invoke his Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination on Monday as he notifies the Senate Intelligence committee that he will not comply with a subpoena seeking documents.

I wonder who else he might have incriminated?

I wonder who else he might have incriminated?

If I recall, Donald Trump thinks people pleading the 5th is disgraceful.

"If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”

- Donald J

We wondered the same thing about Lois Learner but never got an answer from liberals

The thing with taking the 5th is that it really does not mean you are guilty of anything, it is a precautionary measure that lawyers will frequently suggest to their clients even when nothing is done wrong. To quote the Supreme Court in Ohio v Reiner:

a witness may have a reasonable fear of prosecution and yet be innocent of any wrongdoing. The [Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination] serves to protect the innocent who otherwise might be ensnared by ambiguous circumstances

It is easy to read into some one pleading the 5th, but that can lead you wrong.

The funny thing about talking, any words could cause trouble in unexpected ways.
No words, may still cause trouble, but in more predictable ways.

Why would you give any credence to what Trump says about US law?

Liberals are free to go ahead and assume the worst about flynn and trump juat as we did about Lois Learner and the Obama IRS

Well golly gosh gee wiz, thank you so much for your permission to act stupid. I think I will refrain though.

It sure would be nice if the Mainstream Media got back to reporting news that actually happened...instead of reporting something some person...who remains nameless...says.

Me? I don't care if Flynn pleads the 5th or if he spills his guts. It won't make any difference. Either way, the Mainstream Media, the left, the Trump-haters...will all have something useless to talk about.

Particularly in light of FISO Warrants and prior surveillance, my curious mind wonders how much the Intelligence Community already knows even without any cooperation from Flynn? Flynn taking the 5th does not come as a surprise. It continues to up the pressure on Team Trump.

I have not answered your question at all. Instead, your query motivates me to ask more questions. What price would Trump pay for opting to pardon Flynn?
Could Flynn end up dying mysteriously like Vince Foster or Ron Brown? Stay tuned for further episodes!

Trump is worse than useless. But thanks for the thought.

well, lemme see now ............

Flynn is exposed as a liability to the Trump camp by an Obama AG, the Obama AG gets FIRED, the Trump camp covers for Flynn, the Trump camp retains Flynn for nearly three weeks even though they know Flynn has lied & is a liability, Flynn seeks immunity for his testimony, Trump himself continues to verbalize support for Flynn to this day, Flynn also verbalizes support for Trump to this day, and now Flynn refuses to testify & will plead the 5th, so, ..........

nuthin' to see here folks; move along :violin

Honestly all I had to go on was the evidence.

There was plenty.

Evidence: IRS & DOJ Plot against Conservative Groups

Evidence Archive Obama IRS Scandal

Just the bolo itself is obvious political targeting.

"Critical of the way the country was being run"

Ouch.

"Invoking" sounds great. "Pleading" sounds terrible. Flynn should take note of that difference, because when you invoke something it sounds like you're calling on powers the average person has no knowledge of, much less control over. Naturally, if I were in Flynn's shoes, I'd invoke the 5th, 6th, 7th, and so on. The more invoking the merrier. I'll have none of that dismal pleading.

That's completely true. I wouldn't read much into it, if this little bit of history wasn't out there:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/mike-flynn-offers-to-testify-in-exchange-for-immunity-1490912959

"Mike Flynn Offers to Testify in Exchange for Immunity
Former national security adviser tells FBI, the House and Senate intelligence committees he’s willing to be interviewed in exchange for deal, officials say"

Add the 2 and it looks like he's got something of substance he's worried about. JMHO at this point.

Probably not a good idea to point and laugh at other people burning their hair, when by your own admission you havve no hair left but cinders.
