Award-winning journalist Stephen Jimenez is set to release The Book of Matt: Hidden Truths About the Murder of Matthew Shepard on Oct. 1. His book claims that the events surrounding Shepard's brutal murder and motivations of his killers are all incorrect. In an interview with The Dish, Jimenez tells reporters that, following the repeal of a year-long gag order during the trial of Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson, the journalist traveled to Laramie, Wyo. to compile research for a screenplay.
While sifting through formerly sealed court documents, the journalist said he discovered an anonymously written letter:
Basically the letter was saying that the defense raised by Aaron McKinney's defense team of 'gay panic' was false and the evidence that was cited for that was that Aaron McKinney had been a male hustler, that he was familiar with gay guys in gay bars.It mentioned at first both Aaron and Russell, but as the letter went on it spoke more about Aaron, mentioning that he really did like having sex with gay guys, that he wasn't unfamiliar with homosexuality and the gay world. The theory sharply contrasts the widely-known media narrative of Shepard's death, which has inspired movies, books, plays, and the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

So, it would seem that a liberal journalist, Stephen Jimenez is coming out with this, and the liberal machine is not happy with him....It brings up a serious look into how progressive liberals construct 'narratives' though, and how to understand how they are rarely based in truth.
Thoughts?
Fascinating. I have always thought it a little hard to believe the narrative we were being fed about the case. I just found it hard to believe that people care enough about an individual's sexuality to do this for no other reason.

The number of narratives that are constructed on all sides of the media...it's spin. Fox and other Conservative outlets do the same thing.
So that makes it acceptable? IOW, you don't mind being lied to as long as you agree with the end goals?
I didn't say that. Just that it's very common on either side of the Lib/Con spectrum - twist a few things to fit it into your political agenda and sell it to your minions. It's not a "Progressive Liberal" thing.
Well, if an anonymous letter says so, then it must be true!!
Oh, you think Jinenez is lying? Why would he?
Ok, thanks for clearing that up....Regardless of it happening on both sides, I would say that more often this is a liberal tactic to further agendas....That's my opinion ofcourse.
Oh, you think Jinenez is lying? Why would he?
You could always try talking about actual issues instead of throwing down the gauntlet by turning it into little but an exercise in partisanship. "Liberal" this, "Liberal" that. Yada yada yada. It is predictable and trite when people with an overemphasis on political orientation as identity go on their little witch hunts.

Friends who only like you when you agree with them really aren't friends at all. We should all be unashamed to seek the truth in all matters, regardless of our personal feelings. This probably took a bit of courage on the part of the author- kudos to him.I heard the author last night on the radio talking about his book, and an interesting thing is that he made mention that he was already under attack from people that just a week ago were calling him a friend....Then he told the interviewer that the ironic thing is that the people attacking him know he is a liberal minded person too....!
I think you just lied because I said nothing about the author

No, the thinks the anonymous letter is BS. Which is reasonable, since it is an anonymous letter. Since it can't be verified, it shouldn't be trusted over other conflicting evidence.
So you think the letter is BS. Why?
How did he interview hundreds of people who knew the secrets of Shepard's life???? Or, is he just selling books?
You are still not telling the truth
I did not say the letter is BS
Or for God's sake.... Go troll somewhere else.
