So if he runs, would he take more center right folks or center left?
Neither. His future in politics ended when he let Schumer talk him into supporting the so-called Inflation Reduction Act. He's done..

Well, being form W Virginia he might grab Trumps white nationalist.

Will he pick Senima for his VP? She's in AZ right now voting with Republicans to poison our water but I'm sure she'd jump on it!

So if he runs, would he take more center right folks or center left?

Center left. But most people on the left, even in the center, don't want a millionaire coal baron as POTUS. So I have no clue.

I like Joe Manchin. He's the MVP of the Democratic caucus, and more Dems should realize we are lucky to have him. I wish we had a Joe Manchin to run in every red state and red district in America.

I think he's a great senator, he would be a great president, and he would be a great candidate.

But with all that said, he shouldn't run for president if Biden runs. He has the same problem that Biden does (he's too old), and Biden has already proven he can win a presidential election. So we should stick with Biden if he wants another term.

If Biden doesn't run, then I hope Manchin does. I probably wouldn't vote for him in the primary (depending on who else runs), but he would be a very important voice on the debate stage.

Yep. He's not making anyone happy in WV regarding that very issue.

In mid-October, Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a Democrat, announced he would forgo the prosperity of his constituents and their descendants by refusing to vote for a climate measure billed as the nation’s last-ditch effort to secure a livable future.

That measure is the Clean Electricity Payment Program, or CEPP, a $150 billion plan that would incentivize utilities to switch to clean energy sources like solar, wind, and nuclear and penalize those continuing to burn fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. Experts say it’s the nation’s best chance to meet the Biden administration’s climate goal of 80 percent clean electricity sources by 2030. The popular program is cited as the pillar for the Build Back Better Agenda—a $3.5 trillion plan to help working families and create green energy. Paid for by a fairer distribution of the tax burden onto corporations and wealthy Americans, the plan could be a historic investment in tackling the climate crisis, if Manchin would vote for it.

“I think the whole state is disappointed in Joe Manchin. Every Democrat I talk to is furious at Manchin, and I mean furious,” says Stewart Acuff, a retired labor organizer with the AFL-CIOwho lives in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. “There is simply no rational explanation for what he’s doing on the Build Back Better plan than lining his own pockets.”

Manchin, who chairs the Senate energy and natural resources committee, is a well-known coal baron, owning millions of dollars in coal company stocks through Enersystems, Inc., a business he founded and passed on to his son, which earned him about half a million in dividends just last year. He’s received tens of thousands of campaign dollars from Exxon lobbyists, and he’s the only Senate Democrat who’s also an alumnus of the American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, the notorious Koch brothers group of legislators dedicated to uplifting the worst elements of capitalism and destroying the climate with impunity. west-virginians-are-disappointed-joe-manchin

I liked Joe Manchin up to the point when he signed the spurious Inflation Reduction Act last year.

He got duped into signing it, and even admitted that he regretted signing a lipstick-on-the-pig Bill, and that the IRA Bill was a thinly-veiled wealth redistribution scheme:

“Our national debt stands at nearly $31.5 trillion, or close to $95,000 for every man, woman and child, and represents 120% of our gross domestic product. Annual budgetary deficits have averaged $2.71 trillion since October 2019. Since Covid-19 began, we have added more than $8 trillion to the national debt.

Despite explicit direction from Congress to pay down our debt in the Inflation Reduction Act, the administration seems more determined than ever to pervert that law and abuse existing authorities to increase spending.”

(wrote Senator Joe Manchin in a WSJ OpEd piece)

Yep.....He got duped into signing onto it and Schumer would not even honor his side of the deal.

Historically, Senators don’t do well when they run for President.

Manchin would likely do poorly because, for voters on both sides, he’s been on “the wrong side” of a number of issues over his many years in politics.

He was on Fox News this morning saying the Trump indictment is a political game.
Damn. He may well be a contender.

Most of these investigations are political witch hunts. You rarely see a bipartisan consensus anymore, it's all gamesmanship.

It would be difficult to vote for him after he blocked voting rights. That made me angry.

So if he runs, would he take more center right folks or center left?
If he runs he's under 1% of the vote.

I hate to say it, but Manchin makes Biden look like a strong candidate.

Center Right
