When the marry pranksters spread the drug LSD it fundimentally changed this nation forever. Not all of these changes where bad. The high tech field was almost all founded by users of psycedelic drugs and marijuana and that is a positive thing for sure.

The arts where changed for the positive. Jazz fushion sprang up and took jazz to places it has never been before. Psycedelic rock became progressive rock and took rock music to places it had never been before and this was a good thing. The works of sci-fi and fantasy authers all had a rebirth in booksales due to the counter culture and led to modern blockbuster movies of the same genres.Surealistic art movement also boomed during this same time period.

The fact is all the negitive crap spread by the anti drug crusaders and social conservatives is vastly overblown and the positives are mostly ignored while the damage from legal drugs is right in front of our face. It is time to overhaul our war on drugs and legalize marijuana everywhere and decriminalize all hard drugs. This would save us billions and make us billions. I say it is comman sense and a pragmatic and smart move.

You could say that LSD brought about this crappy liberal-dominated government we have now, as well...and that is NOT a good thing.

Anyway, I wonder if you actually contend that IBM was full of drug users back in the day? As a company, they were probably the most influential in setting the direction of modern computing. The non-Apple desktop you might be using right now wouldn't even exist if it weren't for their innovations.

Are you seriously trying to draw a straight historical line from 1968 to 2012?

My God.

My God.

Drawing any sort of line was tough for me when I used to drop as a kid.

There always seemed so many from which to choose and the colors were just so pretty.

Looking back, I'd have to say, I am very grateful for the psychedelic mind expansion and the realization of all the mental possibilities hallucinigens exposed. (Not to mention how much giggly fun it was.)

But I would never do it again. I wouldn't judge anyone that does. But I wouldn't recommend it.

It ain't for everybody. Unstable people just get more unstable. But who will admit they're unstable to begin with? They trip and fall.

Myself, no problems whatsoever with it. I appreciate the mental awareness it gave. Otherwise, I never would have realized a higher conscience even existed.

But I wouldn't do it again. I'm high enough on life right now.

Lucky bastard, all I could afford was black and white LSD....

shrug...

About as valid as YOUR historical lines.

While we came pretty close with Romney nearly being president I don't think we were ever in that much danger of the Mormons taking over.

Mormons almost took over Morons, who says LSD is dead.

l dont think it relates to social conservativism .it has something to do with protecting the health of the society.

I can't say that I would like to see LSD made legal for recreational purposes. It has its dangers. It incapacitates the user in a more profound way than other drugs and alcohol. I have only one up close and personal observation of it from a neighbor. She was at a concert and got a hold of a tab. Her roommate came to get me in the middle of the night to help babysit her. We couldn't get her to stay in bed and before we realized just how delusional she was, she was up the stairs banging on my apartment door. We had to talk her down and took turns staying awake to make sure she didn't go out again.

She was a danger to herself and yes other drugs and alcohol put people in danger, but that has more to do with over use, than just using it as it comes.

I would however like to see it legalized for psychiatric use. I've read a few articles there was a research paper released this year suggesting it could be used in treating alcoholism. Since it's illegal, they had to look into studies made when it was still legal. If it could be useful, under strict supervision, in the treatment of addiction, think of how many people could be helped. Of course, I could be wrong in this. I haven't come across any discussions against it.

Correlation isn't the same as causation.

Yeah, I said something to that effect last night in the marijuana thread. While I accept that extremely creative people can often use mind altering drugs to assist them in making creative things, mind altering drugs do not make uncreative people highly creative.

Or, another way to put it: you can stick a giant spoiler on a 1980 station wagon, but it don't make it a Porsche.

I can't imagine LSD serving any purpose medically. But I'm no doctor.

I mean, what could windowpane cure? That stuff really takes you to outer space. I wouldn't recommend anyone with mental issues to even go close to LSD.

Well, I know that someone can be tripping on 'cid and drink to their hearts content and never feel the alcohol effect. The trip washes out the drunk.

Yeah, that's cocktailing. The study I linked to deals with a peripheral addiction.

That is a overeach my friend. Both liberals and conservatives have benefited from the computer age and by the way this so called liberal crappy government you are talking about kicked the butt of the so called better conservative government you are talking about in the last election so get used to it.

That is the way I feel. Here in Western Washington state we have magic mushrooms along with all the biker acid in the late 70's and early 80's and I had my fun and im gratefull for it. It changed me forever but I would turn it down now. Not out of morality but out of the fact I have already had my fun.
