Citizens of the poorest states in America have more disposable income on average than citizens of Canada's wealthiest provinces. I work in tech and looked at moving to Canada a few years ago. Even in the wealthiest cities there, I would take a 40% pay cut, and I am not coming from the Bay Area, I am coming from the Midwest. Moreover, housing costs are much higher there than in the USA.

Joshua Tree is THE BEST. Used to go rock climbing there back in the day. Great stargazing there. I was at Zion recently too. We have family in St. George. Glad you had fun!!

California is one of the worst run states there is, and it's still one of the best. You just can't beat its beauty, weather, and range of things to do. South Lake Tahoe might be my favorite place there is. Better skiing than Colorado, better night life than Utah.

The wife and I went to LA for a long weekend last year, and even with the homeless on the streets, it was still a great trip.

Leftoids are shitting themselves over the loss in political clout though. These people come to Texas, and we just stick them all in convoluted congressional districts to minimize the damage they can cause.

Even if you're making in the upper echelons of income I would say it's still probably better to live in Canada if you can make your money in the US; being a dual citizen helps greatly.

Actually, it's high-income earners who gain by moving out of high-tax states. California's top bracket is 13.3%. Several states have no income tax, including its neighbor, Nevada. Someone in the bottom bracket pays 1% in CA. They don't stand to gain much by moving.

One side of Tahoe is California politically, but it's Nevada culturally. People don't change across the state line, and geographically/economically, the Northern Nevada area crosses the state line to include the California side of Lake Tahoe and Truckee.
