Los Angeles ranks No. 1 in move-outs for second year, PODS data shows

As to joining Canada, I like Canada, but per-capita GDP and incomes are much higher in the United States than Canada. Citizens of the poorest states in America have more disposable income on average than citizens of Canada's wealthiest provinces. I work in tech and looked at moving to Canada a few years ago. Even in the wealthiest cities there, I would take a 40% pay cut, and I am not coming from the Bay Area, I am coming from the Midwest. Moreover, housing costs are much higher there than in the USA.

Yep, because Canada is much more economically progressive than the US. All of those awful policies quickly add up.

Does move outs mean they are also changing their political affiliation?
If Georgia is an example, the answer is no. We’ve had a huge influx of folks from the northeast moving down here over the last 25 years, they bring their voting habits with them. Hence, Georgia has gone from a solid red state to a swing state that is trending blue.

No. Typically it means they move out and spread their cancer where they go, doing their best to turn every place they find a rat party majority into the same kind of desperate shitholes they just escaped from...because they are too ****ing stupid to realize its not the city...its them.

Oh….

We visited a few months ago and I was shocked at some previously decent areas that seemed to now be overrun with homeless and sketchy tough guys.

.
Did you do any surfing?

Naw. Too cold and all my stuff I left at home. We did go to Vegas, LA, San Fran, Zion, Bryce, Death Valley and Joshua Tree thought.
Joshua Tree is THE BEST. Used to go rock climbing there back in the day. Great stargazing there. I was at Zion recently too. We have family in St. George. Glad you had fun!!

Zion is pretty epic. I wish we had spent more time there.

We did go to the Wedge though. It was pretty mellow. Didn't go in. Just thought they should see it again.

California is one of the worst run states there is, and it's still one of the best. You just can't beat its beauty, weather, and range of things to do. South Lake Tahoe might be my favorite place there is. Better skiing than Colorado, better night life than Utah.

The wife and I went to LA for a long weekend last year, and even with the homeless on the streets, it was still a great trip.

Leftoids are shitting themselves over the loss in political clout though. These people come to Texas, and we just stick them all in convoluted congressional districts to minimize the damage they can cause.

As our population ages people will move from high income/high cost areas to places where living is far more economical. This has nothing to do with horrible liberal policies or great conservative policies. It's just common sense.
It has everything to do with "horrible liberal policies." If liberals were any good at taking care of people, their elderly wouldn't have to move. But they have to because the liberals tax the snot out of them even when they're on fixed income

Nonsense.

And prior to the PODS data, U-Haul had been showing Los Angeles to lead in years past.

Its much more than people retiring and taking their fortunes and moving to a more sustainable area.

Its peolle fleeing toxic politics and liberal progressive government.

There are indeed 'greener pastures' east of the Mississippi.

Ha! Ha! We own the libz now, don't we, Vern?

The red states are hardly withering though. Texas, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina are all booming. South Carolina and Tennessee are quickly coming up as well. Sure, there are states like Mississippi and West Virginia that are red, but there are also states like New Mexico that are blue.

That's an overtly simplistic approach to the calculus:

Even if you're making in the upper echelons of income I would say it's still probably better to live in Canada if you can make your money in the US; being a dual citizen helps greatly.

Moved from absurdly expensive piss-stink NYC to the GTA and never looked back; nicer city, nicer people, lower crime, it doesn't smell like piss and shit all the time, while my CoL here is far lower.

I doubt politics has much if anything to do with it. Their insanely high cost of living is what is driving this.

And that is all Biden's fault.

MAGA.

I'd rather be slightly poorer but live in a place with great public services than be righer but live with shitty public services.
The train system in the US is an absolute joke.

Meanwhile patients die of thirst in NHS hospital wards. Now that's what I called a "great public service".

I've used the NHS and I didn't die of thirst even once.

How odd?

Yes, lets condemn an organisation that covers an entire population of 60+ million because of a single mistake.
I bet I can find an incident of a US armed forces person being really really bad so I now claim the entire US armed forces are the bad guys!

Actually, it's high-income earners who gain by moving out of high-tax states. California's top bracket is 13.3%. Several states have no income tax, including its neighbor, Nevada. Someone in the bottom bracket pays 1% in CA. They don't stand to gain much by moving.

Cost of living is the main factor.

One side of Tahoe is California politically, but it's Nevada culturally. People don't change across the state line, and geographically/economically, the Northern Nevada area crosses the state line to include the California side of Lake Tahoe and Truckee.

better night life than Utah.
Utah?

The nightlife at Tahoe is in Nevada, not California.

You play with leftoids? Is that part of Utah nightlife?

Among housing cost as a root cause for leaving, we find many businesses have left.

"Key Takeaways

  • In 2022, California lost 817,669 residents.
  • Between 2018 and 2022, 352 companies moved their headquarters from California to a different state.
  • The average cost of a single-family home in California is a shocking $737,677, more than double the national average. "
