Looks like Ralph's has been gouging me.

OK, but every additional $1 spent on higher fossil fuel prices (and everything delivered using that energy source) now is $1 that can’t be spent on developing an alternative energy source.

Demand destruction will take care of the price on its own in due time, so we are not forced into a binary choice.

Nope. The left and their media screamed for two weeks that Biden CAN DO NOTHING to affect gas prices, and then went on to blame everything and everyone else in the world.

Not how I saw it; I think even conservative (maybe not your definition) analysts were pointing out that Biden had only so much ability to control the price of oil on the global market. They weren't wrong. In the same vein, can we credit Biden for lowering gas prices over the last week or two when, most likely, the decline has more to do with concerns over weakening global demand and more disruption to the supply chain? Most of these forces influence global commodity prices are not policy-related; they're market-related, or they are disruptions to the market.

Now if you wanna call Biden out for failure to forecast market conditions at the time he implemented certain policies? I think that's fair game. I personally am not convinced that Biden's stimulus bill in early 2021 was reckless given that the inflation picture was still not quite clear, but there were already some analysts who were questioning that act, so it's not like he wasn't warned. The Biden stimulus would have been great in 2009. Problem was, it was a 2009 stimulus prescription for a non-2009 situation. It people had had $2 trillion in excess savings back in 2008-9, there wouldn't have been a global financial crisis to begin with

My Family, for good bad or worse, only like to drink "distilled" water. I, myself, have also gotten so used to distilled, that all other water tastes "off" now. Trust me, I wish I could get away with using a water filter.

I'll try not to wander into 0021-offtopic (2019_02_27 17_41_55 UTC).gif but allow me to simply say that distilled water isn't good for you.
Continuous consumption of only distilled water can lead to eventual electrolyte imbalance unless you are taking in the necessary minerals some other way.
And I'm out.

So overdramatic.... to the point of rediculesness. Please point out where I said" Biden can do nothing" about prices? If your going to whine and complain and spread your partisan grievance's out so thick, at least have the decency to use some restraint and show some dignity. But it appears you've fallen into as many pieces as your moronic arguments.
Of course he is. On the subject of buying Russian energy, we were told, "It's only 7% - so insignificant that it means NOTHING!"
If you knew what your talking about you'd know that your claimed 7% is actually 12% and that was enough to have a major impact of the prices of petrol Worldwide. It's funny how small minded conservatives are as they think of petrol prices only in terms of the effects on U.S. prices whilst ignoring the rest of the globe. It's comical.
Then he runs to the Saudi's, Iran, and Venezuela to beg for more production while leaving progressive greens in his dust.
Is there anything you aren't angry about? You complain when you think Bidens doing to little. Then, you complain even more when he tries something else. Conservatives are all complaining with no answers.

Responsible people already do. In other news, a fool and their money shall soon part.
Is this your way of telling me your broke?

The entire effort is centered exclusively on fossil fuels, while the problem of trash, waste, plastics, and chemical pollution is even worse. Our foods, soil, and water is filled with forever chemicals, micro plastics, pesticides, and fertilizers.
To be fair, it's going to matter little how much micro-plastic is in your bloodstream if it's 130f outside because we couldn't ween off fossil fuels. Does that clarify their efforts for you?

"Since most people eat and drink a variety of foods and beverages throughout the day, most people will get the salts and minerals they need from other sources.

It is not dangerous to drink distilled water as part of a balanced diet. A balanced diet should include foods that replace any minerals lost through sweat." Also, once you get used to the pure taste of distilled.... All other water tastes "gamey".

I had my suspicions. Since we shop all over I'd seen how the Kroger Family stores had much higher pricing on certain staple items we use. For example, the type of water we buy had gone from $.99 per gallon to $1.30 per gallon, yet I can still buy it for $.99 at Target and Smart & Final. And now, a new report by "accountable.us" has come out directly naming Kroger as a price gouger. Et tu Ralph's? Et tu?

The good thing is that these publicly traded corporations are required to disclose their profits margins and we will soon see if they are gouging and in need of remedial penalties. If there is a significant rise in margins then windfall profit taxes are in order. Grocery stores have traditionally LOW margins.

I took a Lyft today and it charged me a $.55 surcharge tax for higher fuels costs. The driver told me they don't get any of that money. If he is right, they are ripping people off.

My main point has always been that Biden had no control over the causes of these Worldwide issues the planet is having. That his administration is now coming up with creative fixes should be seen as a good thing. But, unfortunately no matter what Biden does, he will never enjoy the support of MAGA,as MAGA is still so butt hurt over the loss of their demigod at the hands of a stuttering octogenarian, that they can't accept anything good Biden may have to offer. Look, Biden certainly wasn't my first choice as president. I know Biden all but insured nothing but the same status quo from Obama's reign. And I'm sorry that your kind refuse to see what a clusterf**k Donald was that he had to be removed at all costs. Now.....It is what it is
Hope the cost was worth it.

This is gouging too...

Biden administration announces it will resume onshore oil and gas lease sales with higher royalty rate

I was told there's nothing the President can do to affect gas prices.
if they don't want to pay it drill off federal land
is all our oil ONLY on federal land?
if it is then there has to be a lot of oil wells on that 1.8% of Texas and OK
it is about time the American people get a fair percentage for leasing their Federal lands
Have a nice day

When we lived in South Dallas, in a neighborhood known as "The Woods" (predominantly black) we began to get a gut feeling that we were being gouged by the Albertsons
around the corner.
A trip to Tom Thumb in the whiter part of Duncanville three miles away confirmed it.
And the next time we went to ANOTHER Albertsons five miles North of us, and noticed even more spread.
When we mentioned it to a buddy across the street he chuckled and said he never went to the Albertson's on the corner.

"Those fools charge 'black people' prices!" 🤣

I don't know where you live but I live in Los Angeles, home to the hardest water in the country.
Second place is a long way down from us, in fact.

So we filter the crap out of OUR water if for no other reason than it was effing up our damn plumbing, not to mention making clothing, dishes and glassware look awful
and making us go through soap like crazy.

But truth be told I actually like the taste of water with the minerals in it, it's just that I prefer spring water, real ACTUAL spring water...you know, like from a mountain spring and not from some fat guy filling up bottles in his tub, like Lewis Black says. 🤣🤣🤣

By the way, for all the bottled water drinkers, this is my semi-annual appeal to try BOXED water, better for the environment than those damn plastic bottles everywhere.

It's just another tax which gets handed down to the consumer.

I kind of gave away my location by mentioning Ralph's. We recycle our plastic water jugs so we don't lose the $0.10 crv they charge. The recycling center is close by, so it's not an issue and we feel like we're doing our part in some small way.

I used to use Lyft all the time prior to the pandemic. I've only used it twice since the pandemic and did notice a steep rise in their prices. Lyft prices before the pandemic were unconscionably low. But I don't think the actual drivers are benefiting from the increases.

According to the driver they get about half of the fare

I feel bad for people struggling month-to-month to buy basic food items.
And that relates to the first increase ever of royalties to be paid by oil companies to our government, how?

I think these "executives" are driving up prices simply because they know the "government was trying to help people" during this pandemic, and all these greedy executives saw was/is a means to "fleece that money away from people'. In principle they are ignorant with greed and greedy with savage lust. Because all they do is make the currency lose some of its purchasing power. Just to say they have more money, and too dumb and greed driven to realize hoarding it like that only means that it buys less and less.

I would not hire any financial person from an Ivy League to do anything at any business if I created one. I'd go to get someone from schools that teach responsibility, and the value of responsibility, and the responsibility to protect value. Not these types who are trained to pursue greed by any means.

I feel sorry for any people who create a business and let goons talk them into "going public".... There was a woman who created a home products business that made bedding and other such things, and she opened multiple stores in "her region" and she was doing well, and the "goons" convinced her to go public, they over expanded her business, and over stocked and the board pretty much made her irrelevant, and soon the business declined and all her hard work resulted to be destroyed by these greed monsters.

I buy those small cans of soda, it started out with 8 can for $2.50... now it cost 6 cans for $3.99..... I now make my own "soups", because its insane the cost of can soup, that has basically a can of water with a few vegetables and excess carrots, and you can't find the meat, yet it claims to have meat.

If you're telling the truth, then start campaigning for a negative income tax.

What do YOU think an increase in fees will produce, lower prices? LOL

The poorest Americans are struggling the most during Bidenflation, the highest in 40 years, with gas prices blowing the top off records and still climbing. Families are living hand-to-mouth just as employment was making a comeback from the Democrat-demanded shut downs that devastated jobs, families, and small businesses.

The truth is, you have no desire for answers. You've proven it over and over.
