Where do you have to be from in order to judge politicians? Is it all a local thing?
Senator Enzi won't be missed since no one even knows he's there.
If Repubs gain the Senate in 2014, Obama can veto them for 2 years, even if Repubs go nuclear--unlikely IMO. And here's why. They have 20 seats to protect out of 34, won in the "wave" year though they are strong in those states. And, a POTUSA election year could add up to trouble.
Remember, that's "Senator Barbara Boxer" - you're not allowed to use her name without the honorific preceding it. Remember, "she worked damn hard to be called Senator". She's also worked damn hard to be called a lot of other things that DP's rules don't allow me to list.
So because you have not heard of him he has not done anything? Do you have any idea how ****ing stupid that is? And how do you, a Canadian, feel qualified to judge whether his constituents will miss him? You know, the people who voted him in by a 3 to 1 margin last election?
Christ in heaven! The only way to keep political dynasties from recurring in the US is for the public to stop supporting this bull****. Sadly, I am afraid far too many voters will vote for some name they know.
No more Bushes, no more Clintons, no more Kennedys, no more Pauls, no more Cheneys. We can do better.
For those who are interested, here's the National Journal's profile of Senator Enzi:

Heya DS :2wave: and here is some more on Liz.
While he's no moderate, incumbent Sen. Mike Enzi has shown he is willing to compromise occasionally with Democrats, such as when he supported a sales tax on Internet purchases.
But Cheney, the elder daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, suggests that such compromise often isn't good enough for a true conservative.
"I'm running because I'm concerned about the direction of the nation," Liz Cheney said Tuesday. "I think it's time for us to say to ourselves, 'Can we continue to go along to get along in Washington?'"
Liz Cheney described herself as a tea party sympathizer. She called the movement favoring low taxes as a "force for good in terms of getting people focused on fiscal issues."
Liz Cheney, 46, is the older of Dick Cheney's two children, both daughters. Married with five children, she was a resident of Virginia until recently. She and her husband bought a home last year in the posh northwest Wyoming community of Jackson Hole.
"Our support will be there for Mike," said the committee's chairman, Republican Sen. Jerry Moran of Kansas.
The other two members of Wyoming's congressional delegation, both Republicans, came out quickly in support of Enzi. Sen. John Barrasso and Rep. Cynthia Lummis praised Enzi for his long service and knowledge of Wyoming issues.....snip~
Liz Cheney challenge to Enzi echoes GOP divisions
Guess she got her moneys worth with that 1.9 million dollar home she had built there in Wyoming just over a year ago. Moving from Virginia and all.
Senator Enzi is clearly one of the more conservative members of the U.S. Senate based on his voting record. My early guess is that the biggest policy differences between Enzi and his challenger may lie in the foreign policy realm. Very likely, if her foreign policy positions are similar to her father's, she favors a more activist foreign policy under the banner of advancing freedom and democracy e.g., would be a leading hawk for military intervention in Syria, would place greater emphasis on the use of force relative to diplomacy, etc. She might also favor greater Defense spending than Enzi, as Enzi voted to reduce funding for the F-22.
Almost certainly, she has plunged into the race, because she does not want to wait any longer to pursue her political ambitions. Perhaps secondary is her concern that the nation is moving away from the kind of activist foreign policy she champions. Senator Enzi's hasty, informal announcement of his intent to seek re-election was not a barrier and it is unclear what understanding actually existed between the two of them regarding the race.
It will be interesting to see how this race plays out. No matter who wins next year's primary--and a Cheney victory is not a given--the Wyoming Senate seat is a safe Republican seat.
I believe in your old days as a moderator, we'd refer to your post as baiting - you're hitting a couple of prime high notes in the baiting hall of fame - criticizing intelligence, xenophobic attacks on nationality - well done. Rather than run to mommy and report you, I'll simply respond in kind.
A liberal in Georgia naturally knows more about Wyoming politics, right? Do you know how ****ing stupid that is? Of course, being a liberal, you see nothing wrong with spending a career sucking on the teat of government and accomplishing nothing. That's the liberal career of choice. Your role model must be Barbara Boxer.
As for winning by a margin of 3 to 1, that simply says that the Republican candidate in Wyoming is going to win in a landslide, even if it's Mike Enzi. If Liz Cheney gets the nomination and wins by a 3 to 1 margin in 2014 or a greater margin, according to you that would mean she should hold the seat for life, right?
I criticized your premise. Stop trying to play the victim.
Apparently I do since I have heard of him and know some of what he has done. I did not parade my ignorance and use it, explicitly, as a reason to attack him. That was you.
And you still miss the point. If the people he represents where unsatisfied with the job he has done, they have other options. Until such time as they do, the indication is, despite your claim, he might be missed by those he works for. Making up **** I did not say won't change that.
I am no fan of the guy, but at least I base my opposition on knowing what he does and stands for, instead of bragging about my ignorance on the topic I am giving my opinion on. If you do not know what he has done, maybe you should actually learn before spouting nonsense.
---------------------
One would think that, but hey, my state has had Barbara Boxer as a senator for 20 years.
I'm beginning to think a Senator's job is mostly ceremonial with a dash of pork.
Pardon me, oh holy one - I forgot that as a liberal, you're the only one who's entitled to express an opinion. And try not to deflect, you ignorantly claimed that as a Canadian I basically had no legitimate right to express an opinion - that's liberal elitist xenophobic bull**** and you won't get a pass from me for it.
I didn't miss your point at all - you didn't have one - just nonsense eminating from your superiority complex. And don't try the line that a liberal from Georgia knows all about a virtually invisible conservative Senator from Wyoming - I'm not buying that **** either. What did you do, a quick google and found out he chaired some minor committee and so suddenly the guy's a Senate star and in your book he's entitled to a Senate seat for life?
Your opinion has no more value in the discussion than mine does, period.
You're pretty good at dishing out the **** on a regular basis but you hate to be called on it.
That's Canada, you have your nations mixed up. IN the US the Senate actually has a ton of power, in Canada, not so much.
Tim-

ok what did Enzi do to potentially upset conservatives and make them go through a bloody primary.
i thought Dick cheney and Senator Enzi were political allies and friends?
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) ridiculed Liz Cheney's Senate campaign announcement by calling into question her Wyoming residency, Politico reported Tuesday.
"When I heard Liz Cheney was running for Senate I wondered if she was running in her home state of Virginia,” Paul said, as quoted by Politico.
Paul told Politico last week that he believes Cheney's competition, incumbent Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY), is a "solid conservative."

And again you are making **** up. I never claimed you where not entitled to express your opinion, but I also have a right to point out of the flaws in your opinion, that you based it on your own ignorance. You even admitted it.
Further, I never claimed to know all about him, nor did I claim he was entitled to anything. Once again, you just made that **** up. Kinda a pattern, make **** up and play the victim. In fact, I never claimed he was a star. So you have anything other than straw men?
I do think my opinion is worth more than yours in this case, since it is based on information, not ignorance. Maybe instead of saying you did not know what he had done, you should have found out. Opinions based on information gathered are inherently worth more than those based on a lack of information. Most people do not take pride in their ignorance, and for good reason.
LOL Liz knows nothing about Wyoming politics either, she's a Virginia resident.

I'm not making anything up, and you're incredibly transparent - arrogance has a way of showing its ugly head even when you try to hide it.
Of course you think your opinion is worth more than mine, that's what arrogance is all about - a particular trait necessary when applying for your liberal membership card. Unlike you, I think everyone's opinion is worthy, even ones I disagree with. I don't make a habit of insulting people or their opinions when I disagree with them but I will give back what I get.
Perhaps being a former moderator went to your head, all that sitting in judgement.
Perhaps like that lioness of the Democrat Party, Hillary Clinton, who carpet-bagged her way into a New York Senate seat. At least Liz Cheney has a family history in Wyoming.
Or maybe you should not have admitted to not knowing what you where talking about. Do you always play the victim? Why are you so unable to handle your words being challenged? This is a debate board, you might want to get used to it.
LOL, Her Dad changed his address to Wyoming from Texas 2 days before he nominated himself for vice President. He didn't want both candidates on the ticket to be from Texas, that's the "history".
