Live Thread for Super Tuesday Democratic Primaries News and Results

Biden should ask Warren to hang around to siphon votes from Sanders. It will be a tough sell as her and her people don't trust treaties.

You think he/the Establishment hasn't asked her already to hang around?

Biden had zero TV ads in Virginia, and zero TV ads in Massachusetts... didn't campaign there... won both.

That is highly significant in my opinion.

Three at the same place?

And that scares me because if anyone is gonna screw up infection precautions, its gonna be Northwest Community Hospital.

Not the sharpest tools in the shed, from my experience.
First the Chinese couple several weeks ago, then now this one. A quick Google seems to show a 4th case up there too, and WGN reported a school worker couple and their kids have been told to stay away from the school. So something's going-on up there, even though Cook County Health is not reporting the location of the "new case". It seems to be slipping-out, regardless.

Man.. the more I think about this age thing, the more it bugs me.

Trump is the youngest viable Presidential candidate! The next two major political figures in the US, the leaders of the Senate and House, are also almost 80.

And our nation is going to get hit with a virus for which no one has immunity, and it has a high mortality in those who are over 70 yo.

Yikes

This may be the last election where everyone is so old. The younger ones are an emerging force that the old folks won't be able to keep at bay much longer.

Not a chance. He's got 95 percent support in the party. They're conning out in droves.

And Bernie will probably run third party. This is his last campaign. If he doesn't, Bernie voters stay home.

And Trump has a lot of support in the black community, too. Perhaps 25%.

And Biden is senile as hell.

I smell a ton of fear in your post.:lamo

Hispanics overwhelmingly love Bernie.

Blacks overwhelmingly love Biden.

Young people overwhelmingly love Bernie.

That's not a good combo for Biden.

I'm not thinking just Trump, I'm thinking if this thing flares up again in the Fall, and we get old men Sanders or Biden as POTUS... the Secret Service would have an interest in protecting the POTUS from the virus.
I was thinking in political terms. How does Trump successfully campaign in a hazmat suit?

What that should tell everyone is that money is not a substitute for a good platform.

That's a lesson not just for Bloomberg, but Trump.

I kept thinking, nobody will invite Warren to be veep. But actually, I think I'm a bit off. Because short of inviting Sanders (too old), inviting Warren would be interesting because Biden being old and half-demented, the Sanders people who might defect, might think, wait a moment, Biden croaks or gets too demented and resigns... and we get someone very progressive after all.

Warren is old too, she is 70, but very sharp, looks younger than her age, and women live longer than men anyway.

The problem is, Warren wouldn't bring a swing state to the table, while it isn't impossible that Stacey Abrams would get Georgia to flip. She almost did, in the governor race.

And Warren would be one fewer Dem senator.

Hispanics overwhelmingly love Bernie.

Blacks overwhelmingly love Biden.

Young people overwhelmingly love Bernie.

All those people overwhelmingly despise DJT.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

Biden took MA!

I’ve got the count 421— 330 — 113 — 63 — 2 for Joe, Bernie, Mike, Elizabeth and Tulsi not counting California. States like Texas are still moving.

I was in college and rotc while JFK was Potus. I supported Goldwater in '64 yet by 1968 I voted for Humphrey. Voted McGovern in '72 etc.

My MA Gov. Charlie Baker as a 21st century Republican makes the Rockefeller Republican party look like rightwingers. Charlie Baker is very easy to recognize as a 21st century Northeast Republican -- open, accessible, responsive to the popular opinion and will regardless of party, fair minded, competent and effective, personable and a regular guy which the Rockefeller Republicans were not. Baker is a non ideological doer who values defense, national security and bipartisan, consensus international relations.

That is, Baker is a new breed of 21st century NE Republican, not the last of a now extinct breed. He's consolidated what his Republican MA predecessor governors pioneered, John Volpe, Frank Sargent then Bill Weld especially, and Mitt Romney. FYI I voted for for 'em all for governor except for Romney which is a faux pas I regret; no regrets however that I didn't vote for Romney against Sen. Kennedy and didn't vote for Romney for Potus; voted twice for Charlie Baker. Of course, I approve of Romney as US Senator from Utah.

NBC said just now MA went for Biden which surprises me not at all or in the least bit. While I wasn't going to predict it I fully expected it.
Interesting things going-on in MA, alright. Maybe it reflects MA probably being the best educated state in the union.

After 4 years of Trump, many of us can use a little of that 'blah'. We're tired of constant turmoil. The "No Drama Obama" era looks pretty good now, in retrospect.

Blah is good.

So is normal, so is boring. Instead of this crapfest that Trump and his idiots brought.

All those people overwhelmingly despise DJT.

Nope. Trump has made great headway in the black community.

And his base is rock solid and has grown exponentially.

Hispanics overwhelmingly love Bernie.

Blacks overwhelmingly love Biden.

Young people overwhelmingly love Bernie.

That's not a good combo for Biden.

But old people overwhelmingly love Biden.

Maybe Biden would get a Hispanic veep. Like Valdez Venita Demings. Isn't she half black half Hispanic? I think she is, going by her first and middle names. But I'm not sure she is.

I find the bolded to be the most disconcerting of all your points.

Man! Your changing your numbers as fast as greased lightning. I'm surprised TX is so close, but Biden is going to get a big hurt in CA (probably make the 15% viability at least).

I think sanders will still come-out on top.

Lol, yes a Trump supporter in disguise. Have you read my posts on Trump for the last 5-6 years? :lamo

Your posts for Sanders are actually hurting him. It’s sites like Common Dreams that are warping folks, though I almost called it Communist Dreams.

It’s Sanders having a rally with contrasting viewpoint, where he is cheered and Biden is lustily booed. Those people will never vote for Biden in swing states.

The Associated Press has allocated 327 to Biden, 218 delegates to Sanders, 25 to Bloomberg, 19 to Warren and one for Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.

There is a God.

Warren has pretty standard foreign policy opinions. I imagine she wouldn't change much on that front.

Many voters such as myself in MA forgive Warren's absence on issues of defense, foreign policy and relations. We can do that in voting for Warren for US Senator but not as Potus or VP.

NBC just now said Biden won MA and a major reason in MA is that he's strong on national security, foreign policy and international relations, same as HRC was and remains. Gen. Kelly is from MA, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs is from MA, chief of staff of the Army is from MA, the just retired chairman of JCS is from MA, the 4-star retired Gen. McCaffrey is from MA, the retired USN 4-star former Nato commander Stavirs is dean of the Fletcher School at Tufts in Boston.

The list of Bay Staters over at Pentagon gets pretty long. JFK was USN in the Pacific in WW II. John Kerry was USN in The Nam. They and others are known and respected in MA as they are broadly across the USA.

Warren, Sanders, Bloomberg don't measure up at all.

Over for Bernie. Pack it in. No way he gets the nomination anymore. The Supers will be handing the nomination to a melting brain conservative and reelecting Donald Trump.

I think the one line that Bernie keeps using that puts me off is that he is against the establishment of both parties

Early California returns, 3%, Sanders 26.6, Bloomberg 19.6, Biden 17.9%. These numbers would roughly give to Sanders a 9% advantage in California delegates, which is 415 x 9% = 38 delegates. In Texas Sanders is 3% above Biden, that's 7 delegates. If this continues, Bernie's advantage in these two big prize states will be only 45 delegates. Seems insufficient to offset all the Biden victories tonight.

I can't believe it! I caught-up! Starting an hour late, 38 pages!

*whew*

Think I'll go to sleep now ...

(not!)

Really great Trump imitation E-man.
The use of "great headway" "rock solid" and "exponentially" are all great Trumpian hyperbole.
I would suggest you add a few "very"s into the mix, as in "very, very rock solid", but I'm quibbling.
I would laugh at this post, but I know very, very well how much you believe it.
Carry on.
