You only make that distinction because you don't understand that there are other powers besides Govt. that can restrict freedom and do harm to our society. Sad really. Being so myopic is a disease.
so much misinformation in so few words... it's actually impressive.... well done.
Huh ? The vote was along party lines.
It had everything to do with Obama, its his MO.

Greetings, Thrilla. :2wave:
I'm probably missing something, but if my internet speed changes from what it currently is, I'm going to have to pay more to my ISP provider to bring it back to where it was?
Name a single IT association that wasn't part of an ISP interest group that did not support net neutrality.
Everyone that is a significant and important part of the internet supported NN along with the people who are educated on the issue.
Tell me, what is inaccurate about what I said?

So amendments are not Federal regulations? They certainly are and they protect our rights from abuse.
First off, the government doesn't enforce free speech. It provides a mechanism by which individuals and entities who believe that their right to free speech has been violated can obtain remedy for that violation if, indeed, such a violation occurred.
Second, government control does not create or protect any rights. In fact the very nature of government control is that restricts the rights of one entity in favor of the rights of another. The classic example of this is the enforcement of laws. When the government exercises control in the form of law enforcement people go to prison.
I get a kick out of the Verizon statement regarding the FCC decision -

explain how todays decison helps our freedoms to chose what services we want have..
why should it be equal? this sounds a lot like Obamacare
Verizon's statement sounds just like one from Bank of America might have sounded if we had failed to pass the banking deregulation measures in 2000. Imagine if we had "restricted" the banks "innovations' and we didn't have the financial meltdown in 2008? I really feel like we dodged a bullet by getting this after reading that BS from Verizon.
I believe this is the most accurate summary of what we can expect.
Chairman Wheeler Proposes New Rules for Protecting the Open Internet | FCC.gov
You mean when Clinton signed the Commodities and Futures Modernization Act ?

I'll admit that NN confuses me. But, if you are saying that the ISPs are all supporting this, then isn't that reason to question it?Name a single IT association that wasn't part of an ISP interest group that did not support net neutrality.

thank you
what we expect....
the problem is why didnt we KNOW....why werent the rules disclosed?
why wasnt the whole thing put on display, and put up for public debate
you hope that is all that is in there....
what if it isnt? what then?
will you still toe the official line?
No, the ISPs are NOT supporting it. They wanted fast lanes and the ability to discriminate against data at their whim. They fought really, really hard over the past few years and spent 100s of millions of dollars trying to do the opposite of what passed.

Just imagine how great its going to be when they apply the same data prioritization for email and video!
Dear Verizon;
You're right. A light touch policy worked before, because you and your fellow ISPs were more or less behaving yourselves. Then you went and ****ed it up. Now you're getting regulated.
Get ****ed,
Deuce
Elaborate.
No packet prioritization based on protocol or saturation. In order to ensure there is enough room for everything on the backbones, everything will be throttled.
