Which Democrat leaders will be the lifeblood of the Democrat Party after Obama is done serving his terms as President? Who represents the direction you'd like to see the Democrat Party take? And Why?
 
It is extremely difficult for me to choose between Evan Bayh, Tim Kaine, Mark Warner, and Harold Ford, Jr. But I think, having experienced the brilliant leadership of Mark Warner as Governor of Virginia, I would have to hope that he would be the future of the Democrat Party.
 
I think Biden would be palatable, if not downright entertaining. :2razz:
 
Eight years is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too far ahead to be thinking about that. How many people here had even heard the name Barack Obama eight years ago?
 
I seriously hope that the leader for the future is not found yet. Only one name on that list really moves me, and she(Hillary Clinton) will be too old by then. I would vote for "anyone but Biden", but that is not a poll option.

I ended up voting for Clinton, simply because I admire her a ton, which is better than the rest, but don't consider her a serious candidate in 8 years.

By the way, I expected something completely different based on the name of the poll. This was much better, thoug has mentioned, it looks too far in the future to be able to say anything with reliability...cept that it does scare me.
 
I went with Kucinich as I think the whole list is just awful, but, at least with Kucinich you know where you stand, he's honest about his stances and will tell you what his plans are, unlike many others on that list. I can disagree with D.K. and often do, but there aren't any surprises.
 
I vote Tim Kaine, he is charismatic but not radical. More of a FDR type Democrat, which is much more to my liking.
 
Too soon to tell, I was expecting a different kind of poll.

Obama scares the living **** out of me. He sounds like the kids I grew up with. And all my friends and I were Marxists. And not the ***** pacifist Marxists, but the kind that believed in the use of force and the full power of the State. Which, as we figured, was the only way to overcome the greed that would serve as a resistance. That said, I am searching for hope. I'm searching for Democrats that would rather have Mark Warner, or Tim Kaine, or Harold Ford, Jr in office than Obama. I want Infrastructure Democrats, as I've come to understand them. Not Welfare junkies. Democrats that do things, build things, care about business, liberty, efficiency, efficacy.

I want to believe that Democrats are still reasonable.

He is more moderate, but has a great grasp on how to manuever sensibly and rally the country. What, you think FDR was a raging liberal?

I like Jim Webb. He's both a military man and somebody who actually saw combat instead of dressing up to disguise the fact that they didn't. He was trusted by Reagan enough to be Secretary of the Navy which IMO gives him enough foreign policy experience to do away with any kind of complaints by Republican hawks. I'm with him on most positions except a few minor details.

FDR was a Marxist in nearly every aspect. However, like the vast majority of modern Marxist, he didn't believe in the functionality of Socialism. I would argue that FDR is the Father of modern Liberalism, in practice. I certainly don't think that Roosevelt was any less liberal than President Johnson or Carter or Obama.
 

Jim Webb is an extraordinary man, but he rubs me the wrong way. I don't know. Maybe I'm still annoyed by the nasty campaign against George Allen, who I thought did an excellent job representing Virginia. I had already moved to North Carolina in 2006, so I didn't get to vote on the matter. Even though I've never really warmed up to Webb, no one can argue that he is anything but distinguished, experienced, and fit for office.
