I've been stunned that after all these kids have gone through, they are being maliciously attacked, vilified, and lied about out of purely partisan viciousness. They are kids! They were traumatized by seeing their friends slaughtered in front of them!

What kind of person lashes out at traumatized victims like this?? Sick.
 


They deserve tons of kind consideration... up until they become a public vocal advocate for removing the rights of other citizens.

At that point they are fair game, as much as any other person who advocates removing or constraining others' basic liberties.
 

Grieving victims, traumatized, sure. I don't support giving them hell any more than another grieving victim. That said, grieving victim arguments do not sway me. I am also unmoved by the political, sociological or philosophical arguments of children. I believe they're being used or at least exploited. Put kids on the table, gotta expect trolls to bait up.
 
I don't condone anyone lying about anyone but other that that these brats deserve what they get. They are lecturing adults and making some rather malcious attacks of their own. David Attention Hogg especially so. His behavior is deplorable.


Not to mention he told everyone he didn't want our sympathy. He is be treated exactly as he requested, unsympatheticaly
 

They do NOT become fair game to be lied about, have false memes showing them ripping up the constitution or being accused of being "activist actors" with photoshopped crap. They have the right to speak out for what they believe in.

What's happening now is that too many people are so damned indignant about their interpretation of 2nd Amendment rights that they are vocally advocating removing the 1st Amendment rights of these young people, and I'm frankly sickened by what is being done to them.

I think the Left needs to pick a narrative here. On one hand, these teens are lionized, deputized and canonized as heroes of anti-gun legislation efforts and the Left has been lining the streets with palms as they venerate their newly-minted cause celebre ideologues.
On the other hands, these teens are children who need the protection from adults who are meanies and disagree with them, OMG!! THEY'RE JUST CHILDREN LEAVE THEM ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!

SOP these days. Stand up in public for anything, and you will be attacked, lied about, and subjected to false memes. Isn't right but that's how it is, I don't like it but this Hogg kid isn't the first by far to endure it. If he wanted to be treated with kid gloves, he shouldn't have sought the limelight with controversy.
 
Yep these kids right to free speech and right to peaceful assemble mean nothing to POS like Ingraham, only the 2nd Amendment matters to her, AND others. To hell with the rest of the Constitution.

There's some good reasoning behind "Children should be seen and not heard" This is a perfect example.
 
Victims should not have extra rights to push their politics, the people who understand this are the smart ones.
 

I would still argue that when dealing with such activists that are kids we should only attack their arguments. Personal attacks should still be offlimits. And this strikes me as a personal attack rather than attacking the merits of the message.

He's a teenager who hasn't even graduated from High School yet. Laura Ingraham is an adult with an Ivy League degree and a law degree, is 36 years older than the teenager, and has been in the public eye for years. Try to understand the difference. If you can.
 
Your argument is rendered nil right there. Do you have any idea what Igraham's background is? Her education? Her clerking for a SCOTUS? Her recently landing an eponymous 1-hour show?
Ingraham is highly intelligent and articulate and when someone implies she's jealous of a 17-year old kid who can't get into undergrad school, well, it sound ridiculous.

This isn’t a generic complaint. It’s specifically about how awful she is.

I agree, Goshin, that they are fair game. But their positions should be attacked, not their college application acceptance rate. It's not all that dissimilar to the rule here - attack the post (content), not the poster. Attack David Hogg's words about guns, but don't attack David Hogg's college application acceptance rate. That's just ignorant, and that's just childish. Ingraham made herself look very unprofessional, churlish and petty here.

The alt-right is in melt down mode over this ‘new voter’ movement. This generation will be voting for several decades after the older generations are gone. They will put the younger generation that didn’t vote this decade in the back seat.

Our gop friends had no problem with the teenagers of the 1990s turning against Democrats because of Clinton’s ‘family values’. They’ve had no problems using gun hawk fears as an election cudgel since 1994.

Now, their election fears are born out with such voter suppression tactics as the ‘census question’. Imho, if Ryan and McConnell allow it, we’re heading for Mueller being fired, a ‘hot’ war with Iran, Martial law and elections being suspended ...

but if they are going to wade into a major political dumpster fire like 2A, then they better be willing to take a few straw embers that blow their way

politics is mean...has been for years now...it is partisan, and brutal

and if you are going for one of the most controversial causes, expect pushback....whether you are an adult or not

just because you are a kid, doesnt mean the other side will leave you alone

You seem to think you can put words in my mouth, and you can't. If you're not impressed by someone who has an Ivy League education, an impressive law career, a very impressive clerkship, and a very impressive media and writing career, well, I guess the only thing Ingraham is missing from her C.V. is being a "community organizer".
