Lab leak

True, in that Obama "lifted" the ban a few days before leaving office. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-017-08837-7
Well, your link puts the date as Dec. 19, 2017. Trump was in fact President on that date. He was inaugurated Jan. 20, 2017, so this was lifted about 11 months into the Trump era.

Here's the statement: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-17-071.html

Notice Announcing the Removal of the Funding Pause for Gain-of-Function Research Projects

Notice Number: NOT-OD-17-071

Key Dates
Release Date: December 19, 2017

Here's the announcement of the 'pause' by Obama in Oct 2014.

Not much public coverage or bru-ha-ha in the mainstream media though, since the Media was focused on Trump.
LOL....
IMO also why any funding is being funneled via hidden agreements like the NIH grant that went to Wuhan.

It is still a public embarrassment much like (to some) our leaving the climate change agreement.

I believe it's why Fauci denies NIH Wuhan funding to this day.
To protect Trump?

I don't have a specific link, but it's obvious. The research was going on when the pandemic started, and Trump was president. Maybe he didn't know about gain of function and all that. But being president, he is partly responsible.
You are correct. The 'pause' on GOF put in place under Obama in 2014 was lifted during the Trump administration - Dec. 2017.

Yes, I blame it more on Fauci. But Trump was no perfect angel.
Trump had to rely on the advice of the so-called experts. It doesn't help when you have an idiot like Faucet advising you.

It's nice to feel safe, and to trust the parental authorities. They don't have to strain their brains.
It's nice to believe moronic conspiracy theories, that way you don't have to think much.

And who advised Trump to lift it? Trump doesn't know anything about GOF so you can assume the recommendation came from someone in the NIH.

Really?

If someone had the ability to know, as in was part of the actual process, or in some way was personally concerned about such things and made inquiries, then you would be right.

However, there are hundreds of agencies, departments, and other administrative sections in the US Government, all with sub-sections and other divisions. That's not even considering the Military.

It is impossible for the President to personally know everything that is being planned, conducted, discussed, and acted upon in all of those segments of the Administrative State.

The President is almost completely dependent on what those in charge of those segments are willing to pass on, rather than considering it something the President should NOT know for "plausible deniability."

Worse, keeping him out of the loop to allow blame to fall on him.

While it is the aspiration that "the buck stops here," the truth is that the Head of State "Mr. President" only knows what he is allowed to.

Therefore, when an agency "goes rogue," then seeking to blame the President is not a reasonable resort. IMO that is just typical scapegoating.

In Mr. Trump's case, we have all the evidence we need to show that not only were certain agencies hiding information from, and misinforming him, they were actively seeking to undermine him.

China did not work on this alone. Funding went from NIH through EcoHealth Alliance (Peter Daszak), to Wuhan.

Fauci wants the story to die, because he approved gain of function research, and helped to fund it. He can count on the blind faith of his Democratic worshipers.
Where did Fauci get the funds?

He did indeed. It was "inconclusive".

I guess whatever that means it gives him the political cover to say he at least tried to get to the bottom of it. But did anyone really believe that without China cooperating that anything conclusive would have been discovered?

@Captain Adverse summed it up nicely, but as evident by the responses seen here the left doesn't give a shit. But they should at least show their appreciation for you giving them something to ridicule when they have nothing else to offer.
Have we seen the report outlining the results of the investigation?

Fauci is partnering with Gates, so between the two of them they have immense power and money. And they are in league with the drug industry. Do you think the US government is more powerful than that? Any story that Fauci-Gates-drug industry don't like gets killed.
Good Lord.
Are you edging into nanobots territory?

So, looks like mainstream news lost interest in that story. Or maybe they were told to lose interest. Didn't Biden ask for an investigation?

The American public is SO stupid, they don't even notice when a story fades away.
So you wanted to start a discussion on the fact that something isn't being discussed anymore.

Sounds riveting.

Have we seen the report outlining the results of the investigation?
We have an unclassified summary version of it.

Among its findings was:
One IC element assesses with moderate confidence that the first human infection with SARS-CoV-2 most likely was the result of a laboratory-associated incident, probably
involving experimentation, animal handling, or sampling by the Wuhan Institute of Virology. These analysts give weight to the inherently risky nature of work on coronaviruses.

So, looks like mainstream news lost interest in that story. Or maybe they were told to lose interest. Didn't Biden ask for an investigation?

The American public is SO stupid, they don't even notice when a story fades away.
Probably because there isn't any hard evidence to support the idea.

There is currently still no evidence that COVID-19 was leaked from a lab. That's the story.

I mean seriously, what does anyone expect to have happen? We have some people speculate that it probably came from a lab in China. China says "nah, wasn't us." But we totally think it was.

Is there some action anyone can be expected to take based on this?

Without actual proof, is there really any action that any world government is going to take against China?

Don't worry.

I, for one, have a good faith belief this was a man-made virus using technology to give an animal virus "gain-of-function" infectivity to humans.

I don't think it was intentionally released, although anything is possible.

However, the efforts made by the Chinese government, first to hide it for weeks taking action inside Wuhan while allowing travel outside China from Wuhan; then to lie about its capabilities (convincing the WHO there was no human to human spread); then allege it was an American Bioweapon; and so on. All lead me to believe China was working on this gain of function research, and knew it was a lab leak seeking to deflect blame.
Seems a highly plausible theory of a sequence of events. That it was leaked from the Wuhan lab has many more facts behind it.

That which was once falsely characterized as a CT, resulting in social media bans and active derision and suppression from multiple US federal government agencies, when those same actors already knew COVID wasn't from a 'wet market', should give everyone quite a wake up alarm, as by all reasonable and logical grounds, those same US federal government agencies and those same social media 'platforms' (publishers), placed themselves on the same footing, and on par, with the Chinese communist government.

The obvious conclusion is it is reasonable to first believe that the US federal government and social media ****s it up and lies about it, neither giving a single twit about the electorate, until proven otherwise.

It would not be unreasonable for all the above, and others, to be held culpable for developing and then unleashing COVID on the world.

Pretty sure that Fauci doesn't have any trouble at all sleeping at night nor looking himself in the mirror.

He should have trouble with both.

It is fascinating how this works for you. Obama in fact put a pause on the research, it was issued through the WH so we can assume Obama signed off on that order, and never lifted it. Despite that you said, "True, in that Obama "lifted" the ban a few days before leaving office." So you are directly blaming Obama, the person, for the lifting of the pause, and when that's done to Trump, blaming the President for what happens on his watch, it's "not a reasonable resort."

Then when shown that the ban/pause was lifted under Trump, you go to great lengths to excuse any role of Trump. After all, he's just the boss, so what can he be expected to know? It might have been in those daily briefings that he didn't like to have, but we'll never know. At any rate, the pause wasn't lifted by "Obama" but by "Trump."

I would like (love) to know the answer definitively but we all know it came out of CHINA whether it was a lab leak where bats were being studied or it was from free range bats; so at this point in time that makes little difference.

Reportedly there has already been considerable changes made in labs worldwide to insure a lab leak could not happen, just in case.

If it was an accidental lab leak what would be any action taken against China if any action could be taken?

I think the time and effort we (America) have spent already trying to figure out if it was a lab leak or not would have been better spent on dealing with the reality of the virus.

I get it. When it's Trump, the buck does not stop on his desk, ever, if it's bad. It stops on some underling's desk, who he appointed, which isn't Trump's fault, obviously. He's just the President. If the economy booms, then "Trump" did that all by himself I'm pretty sure, like it was Trump who developed the vaccines. It's so obvious.

The American people are extraordinarily bulkanized at the moment they are being played against one another and the thing is with that it only lasts for a little while and then the people start to get the idea and I think that's on the verge of occurring here. There will always be the faithful and they will stand in line for their 347th coronavirus booster and possibly continue wearing masks for the rest of their lives

As more time goes by these people will be relegated more and more to the fringes. Even Canada is revolting against them that's a good sign.

The American people aren't stupid just some of them are some of them always have been. And some of them always will be you can't do anything about that all you can do is fight their misinformation with truth and they will throw 10 stage fits and try and get people canceled for doing this that is a good thing it means you are on the right track and that they are scared.

Nice rant about Trump.
