LA couple moves to Mexico over deportation fears

It's completely imaginary.

It only exists as a legal fiction.
It’s good seeing more on the far left starting to be more honest with their actual thoughts on illegal immigration.

Just wonder what took so long as I don’t think they were ever fooling anyone.

That's really more of a Libertarian position, if we're being honest.

These are smart people, because now they still have an opportunity to return to the U.S. legally.

Once ICE arrests and deports someone, that person cannot legally return to the U.S., or apply for asylum, or permanent residence status (Visa), or citizenship.

EVER.
This is not true. Very few things result in a permanent bar to admissibility. For this man's case, he is inadmissible for ten years after departing the US. If he attempted another unlawful entry, he would then be permanently inadmissible.

How is stating reality a left/right thing?

The line is imaginary... we get to decide what we want to do.

My concern is does the decision cause mass harm.

Exactly and a foreign spouse can easily get citizenship having been married to a US citizen. It is an issue only created by their stupidity.
Um, this is not true. If a foreign spouse is in an out of status or undocumented status they cannot adjust their status based on marriage. They can apply but not adjust to a conditional status while jn the US. They must leave to an appointment at the embassy abroad and then are subject to a 3 year to permanent bar to entry that’s triggered by leaving the US. There are certain limited situations in which a person can qualify for a waiver to the bar, but those are very limited.
So as you see its not easy at all

Yes if you are in the country illegally you must leave. Good.

Easy to self deport. There's an app and you get some money. And you don't lose the ability to get into the country legally. Win-win.

It is a human fiction.

Borders don’t exist in the natural world. They exist because we want them to exist.

Hence… They are imaginary.

If a person crosses an imaginary and spends the next twenty years working to make a life for themself that does me no harm.

There is no reason to force them back across that imaginary line.

It doesn’t make my life better and it is cruelty for cruelty’s sake.

That’s it, I’m moving in to your house. Walls will not divide us.

Mexico is great. Hope they are happy. Can't see why they wouldn't be.

Ukraine dislikes your post.

But Russia likes it. So you choose.

Millions of immigrants living in the country illegally were granted amnesty under Reagan. If Reagan was alive today, he would be considered part of the "far left" by MAGA Republicans.

There is a difference between a sovereign using military force to impose it's will upon a people and individuals crossing a line to make a better life.

Not everything is a nail that calls for a hammer.

Tell his belief on imaginary borders to immigration agents in any country in the world. They would have a good laugh.

Immigration agents are there to enforce an imaginary line.

Humans are the only species on the planet that honor borders because they are all made up.

Deporting a person who has been a productive member of society for 20 years because he crossed an imaginary line when he was 19 isn't going to make this country any greater.
I think he moved on his own he deported himself that works too.

Well immigration agents are there to help immigrants which is a legal status. This conversation is about illegal aliens and has nothing at all whatsoever to do with immigration.

Border patrol and ice deal with illegal aliens.
Humans are the only species on the planet that honor borders because they are all made up.
There's quite a few species that are territorial and will absolutely kill each other for invading their space.

Humans are the most civilized about it at least in the US.

Well, at least we're admitting to not doing things by the books.

Sure you did. What stopped you from doing so?

You've been together since last summer during Bidens administration, and your hubby has had 20 years to work toward citizenship.

So you're saying you're having a hard time trying to legally live and work in Mexico? Well I'll be....

Still trying to understand what stopped Alfredo from working toward US citizenship for 20 years. Oh, that's right. Because no need to worry about those pesky immigration laws in America. That's only to be followed in other countries.

This story doesn't read like the 'feel bad for us' story they were seeming to go for.
So you're thrilled that the USA has lost two productive citizens.

Kinda pathetic, dude.

Yeah... and what did the US gain from that?
A place for a citizen to live a job for a citizen to do and removal of someone else's slave
Only if you hate the citizens I think they shouldn't have houses or jobs and think that wealthy people should have an underclass so they can save money on labor.
