I'm in the process of clearing out my key chain and found 4 keys that I either never use or have no idea what they go to. I'm sure that they were important at one point but now I couldn't tell you for the life of me what they are for.

-edit-

OK...somehow or other I managed to forget to add the poll questions so is it:

1. None
2. One or two
3. Three to Five
4. More than five but I really like keys.

What's the survey question?

Probably if we have any such keys on our key chain.

My answer is yes, I've got at least three keys I never use anymore.

3 keys and a bottle opener here.

I have my car key, the house key to my mother's house, and the house key to my father's house. That's it.

I don't carry a key chain. I have a starter fob for my car and always enter the house through the overhead garage. The few times I think I'll need the front-door key, I'll put it in my purse. We have a lock on our fence gate; but the key is hanging in the kitchen on a hook. My safe deposit key is in my desk. The key to my jewelry case is in the house. The keys to our bedroom doors are in the house. Don't need any other keys.

Personal key chain has three car keys...two civics, and the vette...two house keys, the dead bolt is a different lock, and keys to a master lock for the garage...that I never bother to lock.

My work key chain, however...

Two forklift keys, for both types I occasionally use, Master key to my home store, jewelry key, compacter key, register key, key card for self check outs and gas station pumps, gas station key, lock box key for my office, and employee file key.

It's a bit bulky...but I consider it a carry on.

I've got one keychain for each car and one for mom's house but my main keychain also has office keys and such. One of those must have been important because I put a rubber ring on it but I'll be damned if I know what it's for. The other 3 I'm drawing a total blank on. It seems that every few years I end up going through this. I don't want to throw any of them away in case I figure out what they're for but I sure haven't needed them in the last 5 years!

You take them off your ring and put them in a special place in the house for when you need them. After 100 years, you throw them away.

It makes me sick that you don't carry keys:lol:

I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have at least a pound of keys bouncing around in my pocket.

You mean that special place with 30 other keys that I have no idea what they're for?

It just makes you feel more studly to do that. ;)

I regularly take a key from the key chain that I do not know where it belongs to. But instead o throwing them out, I keep them and hope I suddenly remember.

I would have said none, I have a lot of keys but I know what all of them are for, I just realized that I have the keys for my mother's old house still on my ring. There, I just took them off and threw them away. Now I have none.

Wait until you arrive at your house to discover that the power is off.

You must have a door key under the flower pot.

Added the poll, but it's also not a political thread, so moving to an appropriate area.

I'd never thought about that!! Hmmmmm, flower pot it is.

Three: House (very rarely used), tool shed (used almost daily) and a cable lock (occasionally used for a ladder or other tools left on a job site). I have some other keys (to tenant's homes, my girlfriend's truck, my dad's house and for my pistol) but do not regularly keep them with me. For the three keys, that I commonly carry, my girlfriend has a back-up.
