just realized......

Maybe we are talking different guys (Jesus vs Hayzoos)...but the difference between Jesus and the tax man is that his call was for people to be benevolent towards others (and he kinda went the extra mile to demonstrate that) with your charitable acts, vs the taxman who collects those taxes and spends them on junkets to the Bahamas, on unending grants and beauracracy, etc etc etc...

Yeah - he supposedly flooded the whole world and turned people into pillars of salt.
So sweet it's like a sonet.
That's like being a beneficiary for someone and then killing them because they don't worship you enough.

In reality - the government DOES liberally spread the taxes around and they TRY to actually help people out with a large portion of it - and people still hate them for it.

You need to understand what is ownership before I can answer this question with any sort of acceptance from you.

In case you didn't notice I did answer your question.

Why don't you just explain ownership and answer the question... What constitutes as property is just a matter of philosophy of course..

Well...there ya go...mixing up Jesus for the old testament God....for the sake of an argument...

Sorry...I simply dont see the political parties...either of them...as a benevolent entity. They are invested in one thing...power. PEOPLE are good...even I'm sure some politicians. But the government is corrupt and has been for decades. They have spent the taxpayers dollars unwisely. They have not proven to be good stewards of the resources they take. PArdon me if I am not thrilled about them taking what is mine and then spending 14 trillion more besides. I give to charity. I give of my financial resources and of my time. I dont need the government to do what is 'right' for me. I need them to GOVERNH. Responsibly. They should try doing THAT for a change.

Ownership appears as the power to use economic goods. An owner is one that has the ability to dispose of economic goods. Ownership is the having of goods that the economic aims require. The property is the economic good.

In the eyes of the law he who was stolen from retains ownership while the thief can never acquire ownership. While in the eyes of nature ownership goes to whoever has it at the moment. The fact is its not subjective, its one of either two choices. You either protect it or you let it be taken from anyone at any time.

What if they look at you and say "Hey, lady, I work for a living, I'm not looking for handouts." ?

BTW, plenty of studies show that Conservatives donate more to charity than Liberals.

in that case i would urge you to mail that money to "CPWILL in NORTH CAROLINA care of..." :D

No - they're not benevolent.
The problem here is that you think that Jesus was suppose to be benevolent.

i was trying to show that using religious stories to support what a government should do is futile because humans are not Gods - gods are written and crafted to embody was people cannot be.

Jesus = Fantasy
Our government = reality

Well then take it out on the OP that started this inane bull****. Her goal was to attack conservatives using Christianity...you jumped on board. Dont blame me if you jumped on board what is to you a fantasy train... ;)

And yes...the federal government is reality. It is a horrible, ugly reality. Their version of benevolence will within three years make it so that we cant even pay off our interest on our debt, let alone our debt. Who are they going to help then?

I posted to the thread and you replied to me.

the word "mine" is used in tax threads by republicans about a hundred times more than it's used by liberals. i wonder how often jesus said, "it's mine, and i'm going to keep it"?

when i leave work today, i am going to walmart and am going to hand an obviously poor person a 20. i don't care if they buy booze or cigarettes with that 20, whatever floats their boat. merry christmas!

What do you want, a medal? You're clueless about the comparison to Jesus. It's not your job to decide for other people what to do with their money. And it's just great that you promote alcoholism in the poor.

And winked and smiled in my response. Personally...I agree with you. I think the OP made a stupid comparison too. But then...the intent wasnt to compare the two but to make a dig at conservatives using Christianity. And it was a flawed comment to begin with because it in no way represents the charitable nature of conservatives.
