:lamo Juan Williams earned his paycheck for the week. The poor guy doesn't even know Michael Steele is at MSNBC

JUAN WILLIAMS: To me, the big story here is how the media for the most part says, “You know what? One side says this, the other side says that.” Therefore, we're balanced. By the way, MSNBC, I don't think they even have any pretense of balance at this point. I mean, goodness gracious.

LAUREN ASHBURN: That’s coming from a lib.

WILLIAMS: Yeah, I wouldn’t exist at Fox if Fox didn’t have some balance. I’m just saying, okay. I don't see that at MS, but…

HOWARD KURTZ: You’d be in another line of work.

WILLIAMS: Check it out.

I think you're missing the more important point:

Juan Williams (Fox News) vs. MSNBC
=Fox News v. MSNBC
=Broadcast Rivalry Story, not bias

I didn't say it was bias, I just thought it was funny. He thinks Fox News is balanced because of him. Its funny how he said it too, like maybe he is getting paid to say it

If Juan Williams really thinks that his presence makes Fox News a fair and balanced broadcaster he has severely overestimated his impact and he's living in a 24/7 dream world.

There's no maybe to it - the man is getting paid to say stuff like that.

Seriously, why does anyone think that this token is on the Fox News payroll?

Give me a frickin' break here.

The only reason that he is on the payroll is so that Fox can claim to be diverse.

He's taking over the role of Colmes. Like a liberal who's really not liberal.

If by a lack of "balance" he means that MSNBC will not spend 50% of their air time telling the lies that the right predicate their politics on ... Then Juan is absolutely correct.
They don't do that.
Just as Fux Snooze doesn't spend 50% of their air time telling the truth and reporting political facts.

You seem to forget Shrub, Juan Williams violated the leftist rule, that every liberal, progressive and socialist will be in lockstep as the Waffen SS and a small selected few will decide what you can say and what you can't say. In layman terms, do as I say not as I do.

Juan Williams broke the radical left rules and said the truth of what he personally felt. >"NPR fired me for telling the truth. The truth is that I worry when I am getting on an airplane and see people dressed in garb that identifies them first and foremost as Muslims."<

Liberals, progressives and socialist aren't allowed to profile those who want to harm them or America.

The big white beard scratching liberal sent the word down to fire Juan Williams from NPR. Juan Williams didn't meet the standers of being a good progressive storm trooper. He had to go. Liberals and progressives are forbidden from having personal opinions.

Juan Williams was already a part time Fox News liberal contributor to Fox News when the radical left had Juan Williams fired from NPR. But Juan had the last laugh when he walked to the bank when Fox News made him a millionaire when they offered him a full time contract with Fox News after the left wing sodomized Juan for telling the truth.

They should have kept him on and deprived you another "hero." Juan Williams is like "Liberal Lite." Not Liberal enough to piss off the Fox viewers, but Liberal enough to make them think there's a Liberal on Fox.

At what point did he say he was the reason that Fox News is balanced?

Pbrauer. He distorts. We decide.
You're correct he didn't say that, my bad. However he didn't say Fox News is balanced either. He said "some balance." Williams also implied MSNBC didn't have people from the right, when they do - Michael Steele is an example. Howard Kurtz said he would be in another line of work if it wasn't for Fox, but that's not true, he was worked for NPR

He's pandering to his audience. Every idiot needs a counter-idiot to maintain balance. Fox has its MSNBC, just like hyper-conservative fools have hyper-liberal fools.

The funny part is how each line-tower thinks that they're the enlightened ones. Extremism is no virtue, and is often a sign of mental deficiency.

MSNBC isn't balanced and Fox is... Nice post Pete.

I'm stating that the real story is that the two organizations have to take potshots at each other on the air because they directly see themselves opposed to one another. Any consideration of balance, bias, or political partisanship is utterly secondary to what is effectively an advertising piece.

Exactly. Why in hell does Williams care whether MSNBC is "balanced" or not? He's selling the "Fair and Balanced" line.

His first persona was the reasonable moderate. Afterward, he became what any good 24 hour television news anchor and commentator knows: change your personality and views to fit the show you're on. He gets thrown on Bill O' Reilly's show to host it for the night and you see two different Juan's in a night or two  Instead of that measured, moderate tone, Juan has to sound like angry-but above-it-all Mr. Populist. It was so damned amusing.

I thought it was a bit startling in the case of Chuck Todd, who by all means seemed to be perhaps that liberal correspondent that largely did his job without intentional editorializing on NBC News proper. Then he gets thrown on one of MSNBC's Pundit-Solves-the-World shows and he magically changed into a replacement hack...perhaps not as skilled at the delivery as his full-time counterpart, but good enough for the night.

the real bias takes place on these two networks at night. Fox beginning with O'Rdeilly 8PM my time on and on MSNBC beginning at 5PM with the ED show. From those to times 8 PM and 5PM on into the night, the two networks belong to the RNC and the DNC. I know nothing about this Martin character at 4PM, so I will not say anything about him.

From my point of view during the daytime hours, I switch back and forth between commercials from Fox to CNN and back and forth. Both networks to me seems fairly honest with the news or if there is bias it is covert.

If I said I was no fan of Juan Williams you would have called me a racist.

I suppose we can call NPR racist if we use the same liberal/progressive rule that they use on everyone else.

Yep, I call everyone a racist

I should just let you believe that. It makes it a lot easier to argue when you're busy building strawmen to knock down.

>" Yesterday NPR fired me for telling the truth. The truth is that I worry when I am getting on an airplane and see people dressed in garb that identifies them first and foremost as Muslims.

This is not a bigoted statement. It is a statement of my feelings, my fears after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 by radical Muslims. In a debate with Bill O’Reilly I revealed my fears to set up the case for not making rash judgments about people of any faith. I pointed out that the Atlanta Olympic bomber -- as well as Timothy McVeigh and the people who protest against gay rights at military funerals -- are Christians but we journalists don’t identify them by their religion.

And I made it clear that all Americans have to be careful not to let fears lead to the violation of anyone’s constitutional rights, be it to build a mosque, carry the Koran or drive a New York cab without the fear of having your throat slashed. Bill and I argued after I said he has to take care in the way he talks about the 9/11 attacks so as not to provoke bigotry..."<

America is really screwed because people can't even understand the English language when it emanates from the other side's mouth.

Where, in what you posted, did Juan Williams claim that Fox News is balanced because of him?

What I saw was Juan Williams saying that if Fox News wasn't balanced he wouldn't exist there. That's a whole lot different from the lame spin you're attempting.
