Shear genius from Jon Stewart.

...
The Stewart turned to the coverage on Fox News, finding several instances of Fox News personalities downplaying the scandal and complaining that other entities were “piling on.” Stewart joked that he expected them to say it was “the biggest case of piling on since Common read a poem at the White House,” then mocked Cal Thomas for comparing it to rugby: “if you’re going to kiss Rupert Murdoch’s ass with a reference, at least call it Oxy Rules Football.”

LOL. Sadly, there is NOTHING new here.

"I'm not talking about that!" "No worries Mr chairman, that's fine by me!" Got to love those pitbull Fox investigative reporters.

You guys do realize he's a comedian?

Yes, but what's funny is that some people think he's an actual journalist.

Yes he's a comedian. He is also a writer, actor, TV host and political satirist. Satire: "The use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc." He does it very well.
That some might confuse him with a journalist speaks to his authenticity, and the sad lack of investigative journalism in the US today.

I enjoyed the interview with the Pakistani ambassador afterwards. That was priceless.

"So, last time you were on the show I asked you where Osama Bin Laden was and you said you didn't know... funny thing though... turns out, he was in Pakistan, so... yea... what's up with that?"

Awesome.

You can view it here.

I love.... LOVE Jon Stewart because he provides the truth about Fox News and how corrupt and biased they are. He makes everyone on Fox News look like the ass that they are. Priceless!

If this scandal didn't involve Rupert Murdoch (aka, the president and CEO of News Corp/Fox News) it wouldn't be such a big deal here at all. In my opinion, if News of the World was owned by Ted Turner or a parent company of G.E, this wouldn't be as big of a story here in the United States. It would have been reported on, updated a few times, and as long as there was no involvement by any media outlets here in the US, would have been dropped long ago.

Don't get me wrong... It is definitely a news worthy Item... but since this involves the British media, not the American media, it shouldn't be this damned big a story.

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention, that even though Stewart has a hard on for Fox and I believe he was a bit unfair to them in that bit, it was still pretty funny.

If fox found out that the parent company of MSNBC was involved in hacking a murdered girls phone and tampering with evidence, paying off policeman etc. regardless of the country, fox would be having a news orgy over it. This is a big story and should be treated as such.

Grim,

If Queen Elizabeth had balls she would be king. The piece by Stewart is funny because he points out the blatant hypocrisy of Fox News. You don't see that?

The Clown is not interesting for me, only dumb people can still watch him.

1. Does this scandal involve an American media outlet?
2. Is Fox News involved in the hacking?
3. Was the phone hacking done in the US, done to a US company or to a US citizen?

Since the answer to all of those questions is "NO", logic dictates that there must be another reason why this scandal is still such a big story here... Care to apply a bit of common sense?

That's nonsense and anyone who things this wouldn't be a big is full of ****. Any wealthy megamedia onwer would be major news for quite sometime. And neither Fox nor Murdock has earned any reason for anyone to feel sorry about them being on the receiving end. Lord knows they have been the leaders in overhyped and destructive yellow and disingenuous journalism. They're not alone, but they're not vicitms either.

Yea, if it didn't happen in the US, why are so many concerned?

On that note, why did we care so much about the royal wedding? A lot of US news outlets covered that. I think there's something up there. :thinking

</sarcasm>

There's no reason News Corp's criminality should be news in the USA is there? Perhaps Murdoch junior paying off policemen isn't illegal in the US...

"... News International contributed $1m to the US Chamber of Commerce last summer. In October the chamber put forward a six-point programme for amending the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, or FCPA, a law that punishes US-based companies for engaging in the bribery of foreign officials... "

It requires elephant sized balls to state that no Murdoch news agency in the US has hacked a citizen or US company or it takes the brains of a pissant to not understand that this story is far, far, far from finished.

News of the World hacked phones of September 11 victims, claims ex-cop | Mail Online
Of course, just cause they allegedly tried to get the phone numbers of victims of 9/11 in order to hack their voice mails, that doesn't make it a big deal at all, lol.

You're lost on this one Grim. Of course, if anyone is saying that this should force fox to shut down or thinks that all Fox employees should be thrown in jail I'll back you up because as of right now they've done nothing wrong. But as far as this story goes it has all the drama and sensationalism of a major newstory that Fox would would be reporting on for days on end non stop if it weren't their parent company.

You guys do realize he's a comedian?

Careful...people will eventually start countering with "Rush Limbaugh's just an entertainer...and so is Sean Hannity...and Bill O'Rielly...and Mark Levin...and Anne Coulter...and Glen Beck..."

See my point?

None have any real pull, but their "voices" speak volumns. Why? Because each has the ability to greatly "influence" the opinion of others on a massive scale. But be forewarned: Not everything you hear espoused either by a "comedic journalist" or "political entertainer" is honest or factual. But they all have their moment in the media spotlight. It just so happens that this is Jon Stewart's turn and unfortunate for FoxNews viewers, his moment comes at their news giant's expense.

Rupert Murdoch controls a media empire that spreads its tentacles throughout the world including here in the U.S. Mind telling us where the headquarters are located? Care to apply a bit of common sense?

Are you really arguing that something has to happen in the US to be important? That's pretty egotistical.
