Joe Biden Admits Pressure From Democrats Led Him To Drop Out of Race

President Joe Biden said to CBS that he dropped out of the race after receiving pressure from Democrats in the House and the Senate.

"The polls we had showed it was a neck-and-neck race, it would have been down to the wire," the Democratic president told CBS News' Robert Costa in an exclusive pre-recorded one-on-one conversation first aired today.

He wasn't forced out of the race because he was getting senile after all. The whole problem was the polls. Three or four people at the top of the Democrat cabal got together and decided he could not win. Never mind that Biden was elected to office with over 80 million votes. Never mind that he won basically all of the primary votes during the Democrat primary process. Never mind that the chosen successor had not received even 1 vote during the normal state primary process. Never mind that an unprecedented process of getting elected delegates to change their votes without any input from their constituency was concocted so there could not be any debate on the process at the Democratic convention.

You all feel good about that? It sounds like a real "threat to democracy" to me.

...........and now we are so committed to democracy that the Democrat party is running a candidate nobody even voted for.

It is all going according to plan.

I always find this comment by Trump supporters to be so strange. You all have been arguing that Biden was too old to be President. We finally agreed but now you’re complaining about it?

I’m comfortable with Harris as the nominee and I think based on her performance so far, if there were a nationwide primary vote today, Harris would win in a landslide.

She’s doing so well I think she will win a wide margin this November.

If there is a threat to Democracy it’s coming from Trump and his supporters. Remember his attempts to overturn the 2020 election? I also find the recent Immunity ruling to make Trump Above the law to be troubling, and the I find the attempts by Georgia election officials to stack things in Trump’s favor to be troubling as well.

Did you even think before making this idiotic complaints. According to your source, the president listened to the advice he was given. OH THE HORROR!!!! Someone listening to advice!?!

LOL You kept telling us that Biden was too old and when Biden finally agreed and passed the torch you now think he should have stayed in? Believe me Trump would have lost to Biden too but now we have the honor of electing the 1st women President and it is so exciting. Don't feel bad, your man would have lost either way. He is a huge loser and it is shame you had to find out about this way. Most of us have always known it.

Way back when Righties were whining about senile Joe and that he needs to go, I quibbed "be careful what you wish for" and sure enough, now that he is out, and Kamala and Walz are climbing the polls, Righties are crying like wee babies because................................... they got what they wished for.

...........and now we are so committed to democracy that the Democrat party is running a candidate nobody even voted for.

But a candidate is only elected if people vote for his or her. That's when this 'democracy' thing happens.

You guys are really mourning the loss of Biden. Definitely a dog that caught the car situation. I’m young enough to remember when Republicans insisted Joe should drop out of the race because he was too senile to be president and part of a massive crime family. How the tables have turned.

And on the other side we have a candidate who threatens to primary anyone that doesn't do as he tells them. Does that bother you as well?

Why is it that only RWers and MAGAns care about Biden dropping out and Harris being nominated? The rest of us are totally fine with it. We still get to vote for either Trump or Harris in November. Hey @RenoCon are you mad because you wanted to vote for Biden instead?

The lack of self-awareness and pure ignorance among Trump acolytes is truly pathetic. They blindly support a documented traitor who...

- publicly sided with Putin against American Intel that declared that he interfered in the 2016 election
- tried to coerce a foreign government in 2019 into interfering in the 2020 election on his behalf
- spent months lying to the population about Democrat election fraud
- created a fake elector scheme across States that he had lost in order to try to steal the 2020 election
- moved his MAGA mob to the Capitol where they attacked Congress in 2021 in an attempt to help him steal the election
- had his business associates pay a Russian asset to lie about the Bidens in an effort to help Comer and Jordan do damage to the President of the United States
- stole hundreds of Classified documents, lied about it, and then refused to give them back
- argued in court in 2023 that he never gave an oath to support the Constitution of the United States.

But their pathetic and desperate narrative now is to pretend that Democrats are the threat to democracy because Biden, who was "too old" and "losing it," listened to good advice and dropped out of an election. This complete lack of integrity is a product of watching FOX News and other right-wing propaganda outlets. They have been trained to have no self-respect and to obtusely push obvious lies for so long that they truly have no point of reference when it comes to simple truths. This is why they all move as one single stupid organism, lashing about in unison with the same boring narratives, forever denying reality.

No kidding? And it still doesnt add up to "pressure"...they showed him the numbers, the polls, public perception, the donor concern. It all added up and he could see it too. It made sense if retaining the WH was the goal. Which it is, right?

Seems like you're a couple of weeks behind here, no matter what interviews they finally lined up.

Because her mere presence as a candidate has made Trump really look like a loser. And Trump, a draft-dodging coward, just did his followers no favors by choosing a VP who once called him "America's Hitler;" while Harris chose a VP who played in the National Guard for 24 years and was a teacher. Aside from that:

- MAGA is miserable and bitter over what they have long chosen to represent them. They have a Party that has mocked them for decades with conspiracy theories and invented culture wars, providing no real actual policy to speak of, and a Presidential candidate who treats them like the immoral, politically immature people that they have proven to be. While Democrats create legislation like the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021, or the Chips and Science Act of 2022, Republicans offer them nonsense like H.R. 6192 – Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act, or H.R. 7673 – Liberty in Laundry Act.

- And Trump knows that his followers have attached their souls to his wagon. He knows that no amount of treachery and treason will ever loosen their lips from his ass, because if they ever did, they would have to acknowledge that they too chose treachery and treason. He knows that no amount of denigration towards the military, which is about making himself feel better about his status, will ever make a difference to his followers. They have proven it. They are so attached to Trump that they see his wins as their wins, and his losses as their losses. This is why Trump is sure to say that "they" were cheated in 2020. And this is why they deny simple reality and refuse to face easily verifiable facts. They need their favorite FOX News hosts to make them feel good about themselves, despite those FOX News hosts getting caught texting each other about how easy it is to lie to their viewers. These people have been trained by the GOP and its right-wing propaganda outlets to feel that they have no choice but to support traitors and trash. So? They support traitors and trash... and pretend otherwise. Making a clean break would involve a measure of integrity, and they allowed their partisan stupidity to strip that away from them a long time ago.

yawn...

More bullshit from a puppet who says exactly what he's told to say.

Face facts, folks. Biden has NEVER made a decision on his own since he was installed in the WH. EVERYTHING he's done and said is what he was told to do and say. This nonsense is no different.

Biden was TOLD to step down. He initially resisted...probably the first time he's done something like that in more than four years...and he was threatened with the shame of being forced out by way of Section 4 of the 25th Amendment.

Facts can be proven. Let's see it. Citations. Or it's just more BS like you still believing the 2020 election was stolen. How do you expect to have any credibility after that? So yeah...source your "facts."

Again, if they're facts, you can prove it. Let's see it.

For it to be a threat to democracy, you'd have to think having a leader that ~70% of the eligible population didn't vote for is somehow an example of democracy in the first place.

Having a candidate drop out after pretty much everyone in his party wanted him to drop out is somehow called in democratic.

Yeah, the accusation is as stupid as it sounds.
