Jan. 6 White House logs given to House show 7-hour gap in Trump calls

The gap is from 11:17am to 6:54pm. Trump was in the white house at 1:19pm. We know Trump made a call to Mike Lee at 2:26pm based on cell phone records that Lee handed over. We also know that at 3:30pm McCarthy said on the news that he spoke with Trump earlier that afternoon. He was also tweeting throughout the day. He was likely speaking on his cell phone for any calls during that time, but it's still odd that there weren't any incoming or outgoing calls to the WH for the duration of the riot. At the very least it's a great example of the complete ineptitude of the Trump WH who allowed the riot to happen.

He was using Giuliani's phone, I believe.

Do you believe Biden is covering for Trump?

How would Biden be covering for Trump? TRUMP turned the records over to the National Archives... These are part of the records Trump fought all the way to the supreme court to try to keep secret.

So what?
Nixon ran into a huge problem with a similar concern.

Trumplicans might not care, but even those of us not Trump folks grow weary with the witch hunt.

What does that mean?

Biden White House were the ones that released the records.

It means what it always has.
Charge him and put him in jail or stop? But years long investigations over 'we think' is bad optics.
And I wouldn't and didn't vote for the man.

Well, I can certainly see why many people are susceptible to that “witchunt” sort of thinking.

In fact, this is a very very serious matter.

A former President of the United States who openly colluded with agents of a rival country’s intelligence services in order to get elected, ends his tenure by participating in a scheme to overthow that government and install himself.

This does not go away just because the audience is bored.

Nor have the crimes gone away.

Nor has all the evidence been presented.

You don’t hear trump nation saying charge him and get it over with. They’re still making excuses for him and hiding behind the “witchunt” claim.

But, as someone who remebers Watergate very well, I can tell you that the Republicans used the “witchunt” theme back then too. Until it was beyond anyone’s doubt that Nixon was guilty and wasn’t going to be able to lawyer his way out of it.

That took what seemed like an unbearably long time too.

But from the time Congress convened its first Watergate Committee, until the last of the Watergate henchmen were convicted, was 2 1/2 to 3 years.

And since we are only at the committee stage now, there’s little reason to think this will be over anytime soon.

It’s not just about the politics. This man tried to destroy the Constitution and American democracy.

And that accounting must be detailed, undeniable, and well understood by all.

Otherwise, you’re just setting up the scenario for that to happen again.

The biden white house is the one that authorize the release from the National Archives. The missing hours shows there was discarding of information during the Trump admin

Nonetheless, Trump did try to stop it, and lost in the Supreme Court. Only Clarance backed him that time.

Duh, no surprise.

Dopey Donnie was using his and other's personal cell phones to call his fellow democracy hating anti-Americans in Congress.

Can't have any records of him calling McCarthy, Gym Jordan, Mo Brooks, Cruz, Hawley, etc.

During all of the chaos, no curiosity as to why there were zero calls to or from Trump?
I'd think that during all of that chaos, at least one person would have called Trump or vice versa.
We all know from public interviews that numerous people called Trump during that time. It's clearly a bad attempt at a cover-up. The coffin is running out of room for more nails.

How about a compromise? How about continuing to investigate, but keep updates out of the news until there is something solid to go off of?

Well said. In slightly different words, but basically the same thing the judge just said about the Eastman emails. If we sweep this whole thing under the carpet, (Which is what republicans/Trump want), it will likely happen again.

I disagree. The old saying 'out of sight, out of mind' would apply here. The American people, or at least most of them, don't have a long attention span. Up until now, no one other than the Trump dog fighters has been held accountable.

Taking the investigation underground would be playing right into Trump and his republicans' hands. No one, especially republicans who were all for this crazy coup attempt must never be allowed to forget what happened until every last one of the planners is held accountable.

Remember, without Trump's lies and all his crazy lawyer friends and allies, there would have been no Jan. 6th riot/insurrection. Never Forget.

That is right. And, there is an apperance of conflict of interest, since one part of that is communication between his wife and Mark Meadows about keeping Trump in power despite his losing the election.

On the orders from Biden.

Biden waived executive privilege and allowed the records to be released to the committee. The records were NEVER in the possession of Biden.

L

I thought the phone company records what calls are made. They know his cell phone number....
And they can tell where a burner was and what other phones it called.

Maybe, maybe not.

If this was an attempt to go "underground," who on earth could Trump have talked to that was such a deep dark secret? Aren't most of the usual suspects already identified as being in touch with him that day? My mind could go wild with imaginings here.
