Gaza is the 7th oldest city in the world. It has existed since the middle of the Bronze Age (3300 BCE) First it was an Egyptian city-state, then Canaanite, then followed by Assyrian, Greek, Bedouin, Seleucid Syrian, then back and forth between Egypt, Greece and Syria.Former Israeli Knesset member Moshe Feiglin quoted Adolf Hitler as he called for Israel to ..... create a "Hebrew Gaza.". ..... this is our country, all of it... As Hitler said, 'I cannot live if one Jew is left. (and)' We can't live here if one 'Islamo-Nazi' remains in Gaza."
During all of that time it was governed only once for any length of time by Jews when it was part of the Kingdom of Northern Israel from 930 BCE to 730 BCE. Even then the people of Gza were Philistines not Jews.
In 96 BCE Hasemoneans laid seige to Gaza, killed the inhabitants and destroyed the city.
In 24 AD the Romans rebuilt the city.
The Jews never governed Gaza, again until 1948 when they, like their ancestors before, laid siege, killed citizens and destroyed the city.
Gaza does not belong to Israel. For 5320 years Gaza has been called Gaza and only once in those 5320 years of continuous existence did the Jews govern it.
