Today, during one of the most bizarre press conferences I have ever seen, Trump seemed to tell the world that if the US House of Representatives did its constitutional duty and exercised their constitutional powers of oversight over another branch of government, Trump would go to war against them using the Senate to investigate the House.

Pure and simple this seems like open blackmail and he is openly trying the House to NOT do their constitutional duties.

Has anyone here ever seen anything like this in presidential threats?

President Trump has put up with the liberal/Demo malarkey for too long. He's now stepping up and showing his authority. It's time to play hard ball and I suggest the "House" to rethink their strategy by (ahem) backing off.

The House's "congressional duties" do not include trying to unseat a duly-elected POTUS.

The DOJ's duties DO HOWEVER, INCLUDE ROOTING OUT CRIMINAL CONSPIRACIES at the highest levels of government...such as those of the Obama Swamp, and its leftovers...

There is a report that Pelosi threatened to use subpoena power to leverage Trump on positions. He called that out as completely illegal.

Nancy Pelosi has suggested that political investigations may be used as a political tool for their own agendas. Pelosi said that “Subpoena power is a great arrow to have in your quiver in terms of negotiating on other subjects.”

I can only presume that "if you want to play that game, two can play".

Personally given the Democrat's attempt at a coup, a silent agreement may be made that the Obama administration, and the Clinton Crew won't be indicted, if the House doesn't go ape **** on investigating Trump. They have enough indictable FBI people to indict to show that they are serious.

Mueller is Mueller and Mueller has a new boss, so it's time for Mueller to **** or get off the pot.

Transcript?

Did Dems care about Congressional oversight when Obama's DOJ ignored their subpoena power? Told them to pound sand when they asked for documents?

That's what it sounded like to me. Dems think they can control Trump with their open and thinly-veiled threats to impeach and subpoena.

You think Trump has been playing soft ball for the last two years? Ludicrous. He’s tried everything he could to shut down and shut out DRMs/libs. Now it’s time for him to take a some heat.

They have a duty to exercise oversight as part of checks and balances.

And they will do just that despite the threats and intimidation offered by Trump and his Trumpkins sycophants who could care less about the Constitution.

The AG can appoint a special counsel to look into anything. The EB can look into Congress just like Congress can look into the EB.

So dors the Executive Branch. That's why we have co-equal branches of government.

As if you do.

Except now we know that Trump is more than willing to imitate the three monkeys if they simply let him off the hook. So any ordered investigation into the House members will reek of obstruction of justice criminality and cover-up.

This should not be new to anybody here as it has been explained countless times that a legitimate power CANNOT be used for corrupt purposes.

Just ask the former Governor of Illinois - now serving hard time in prison - who exercised his power to fill the vacancy in a Senate seat when Obama became President.

Congress only wants to get rid of President Trump because they have a political ax to grind.

This is the political landscape we have, now: legitimate power being used for corrupt purposes. You've supported it for two years. Don't get mad, now, because you don't like it when your ox is getting gored.

Only in the deranged mind of the Trumpkins who have no room in their alternate reality for obstacles like the rule of law, checks and balances and a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

Trump is just be his usual blowhard self. The Senate doesn’t work for Trump.

I swear that anti-Trumpers say that the newest whatever is always the worst, most bizarre, etc. It's not just anti-Trumpers because Trumpers do it, too, but there was nothing bizarre about Trump's press conference, let alone being one of the most bizarre you have ever seen. You haven't seen many press conferences if that's the case. But yes, Trump is saying that if they choose to exercise their authority to investigate them, then Republicans will use their authority to investigate them, and he'd rather all sides use their authority to get legislation passed. Just because they have the authority to do something doesn't mean they have to. What Trump said was an olive branch, and not out-of-the-ordinary at all.

The Republicans have been getting stuff done because they had a majority in both the House and Senate as well as a Republican President at the helm.

And he takes for granted that the GOP Senators will fall in line to do his bidding. Which they most likely will. A good test for Romney...he'll wonder why he ever wanted to come back.

Trump's campaign of racism and hate really seemed to energize his base.

I think he feels this continuation of anger and hate will energize them further.

I agree, what does that have to do your post I responded to?

You tried claiming that the Republicans were just shutting down the Dems but that doesn't make sense because the side that is obstructionist is the minority side.
