That's one thing that has always amazed me. You got all these "God Bless America", flag waving, lapel pin wearing "true patriots" over at FOX (and even here at DP) nonstop whining about the price it costs to live in the best nation on the planet. Wah, wah, wah.
Living in the USofA is worth it at twice the price. Love it or leave it.

Most conservatives today are militarist neocons who insist on industrialist, workaholic, rugged individualism.
I'm not one of them. I support organic conservatism where we recognize procedural justice and freedom of assembly. Nobody asks to be born in this country, so nobody deserves to be guilt tripped into affording social institutions.
Telling people to leave makes as much sense as blaming a hostage for being kidnapped.
You could always go off the grid....of course you wouldn't have any benefits of a modern civilized society!
Could doesn't mean ought.
If something's built in your name, you're entitled to use it.
It's a choice.
The percentage that you've paid into any public goods you currently use is miniscule. Even Warren Buffets contribution is miniscule when you're talking about the taxes collected and used for public goods we use. This idea that you haven't already exceeded in use what you've paid in taxes to me seems a little farfetched!
You'll pay anything they tell you to?
It's not mandatory. I'm guessing at this point in your life you could leave, or move to Alaska or the Montana wilderness and live off the grid. It's inconvient but nobody realisitically is going to come to your hut you built on your own and ask you to rejoin society. No, mandatory association is not a choice.
Unless you're trying to go on a witch hunt via mob justice, I don't see what your point is here.
But the taxes now, under Obama, are lower than they have been in 30 years.

Of course..if you live as part of a society and benefit from that society it's expected that you'll pay for the upkeep.
Where does this come from? I'm arguing that you've received in public services AT LEAST as much as you've paid in taxes so it's not really a valid excuse as to why you can't at this point leave or go incognito.
I think this question needs to be asked based on the arguments made in my previous poll. Some people just didn't see the relevance to why patriotism would be associated with where one puts their money.
Romney has tax havens in foreign banks for the purpose of avoiding US taxes.
He has made his money and taken advantage of the prosperity that the US allows him, yet he sets up foreign bank accounts to avoid paying the taxes on the money he earned here.
So the question is: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?
Remember, this is someone running for the highest (suppose to be) most respected position in the world.
If you consider all taxes and fee's, this is an outright lie.

• What is your basis for this accusation? Keeping money in foreign banks does NOT exempt you from paying taxes on anything that money might earn. There is a box on the tax return that REQUIRES you to disclose foreign bank accounts. Considering the blithering idiots that we have for politicians and their propensity to create ever more imaginary US dollars, anyone in their right mind would keep some money offshore and in other currencies.
People don't pay their taxes because they're patriotic. One has nothing to do with the other. People pay their taxes because they're afraid not to. All this blah-blah-blah about Romney and his taking advantage of perfectly legal ways to save on taxes is just plain hooey. There's nobody ponyin' up one thin dime they don't have to. And those who say they do? I don't believe 'em.

How do you figure that?
