We now here calls that the U.S. must confront the rise of China. However, China's rise has been facilitated by the outsourcing of U.S. manufacturing to places like China, and selling those cheap goods to U.S. consumers. As such, is the outsourcing of jobs overseas patriotic?

As long as no U.S. laws are broken, who cares?
Yes. It's patriotic for the rich to get richer. We now here calls that the U.S. must confront the rise of China. Nossir. I wouldn't go so far as to call it treason.... but it damn sure isn't patriotic.

I ask you the same question. Is it unpatriotic to buy foreign made products?
Outsourcing and patriotism have exactly jack and **** to do with each other. One is about making proper business decisions, one is about love of country. Your question is like asking if liking sushi is unpatriotic...
The idea that anyone call shipping American jobs and manufacturing over seas to be patriotic is laughable. This is one of the things that pisses me off about the chamber of commerce republicans.THey will sit there and tell you that they love American and that communist are evil and suck dick. Then they turn around and support something so unAmerican as outsourcing jobs and increasing China's means of strengthening and updating their military. These are the capitalists who will knowingly sell the rope that will later be used to hang them with.We now here calls that the U.S. must confront the rise of China. That would be a function of your knowledge about the way the products were manufactured, what is available for you to purchase, what you can afford, and the time you have to do the research. Depending on how all that shakes out, it may or it may not be.
And a CEO could come with a similar list of points that go into the decision making process of whether to open a call center in Des Moines or Singapore.
It it neither patriotic or unpatriotic. It's business. And the management of a firm are legally and ethically responsible to use the assets of the owners of the firm wisely. If that means offshoring work then so be it.
As usual, quite a bit of smoke, but no fire.
Such a well thought out defense of your position...
A business is in the job of making money. That is their purpose. Businesses can, should, and do base decisions on that profit motive. It is entirely irrelevant to whether they love their country. You can love your country and still outsource if that is what is best for your business.
Now when you respond, how about you actually address my comments instead of just dismissing them. It is much harder to do, but do at least try.
