Is it me, or are these forums dead lately?

This place seems very ho hum lately. Have we run out of things to talk about? Or have I just lost interest?

I am having more fun here than ever, but I tend not to participate in a lot of threads because their direction and participation among the various elements in this forum are pretty obvious and stable. I guess the fun part comes from choosing my battles.

Also, I think are in a political lull right now with no big scandals or real political news to fire people up. I think it mostly is from exhaustion over the healthcare fight. People are recharging.
 
I don't think they're dead or ho hum. I've been absent for a couple of months and will occasionally check in. I don't have any tolerance for some folks who will argue just for the sake of arguing. There is enough day to day turmoil without getting that here. I love to debate and bounce issues back and forth but dislike the baiting that some take great pleasure in.
 
There have been a fair number of very active threads. I see no evidence at all to suggest that posting is down.
 
It's just an evolutional process.

I came from another political debate site that I was a member of since 2004. Eventually I even became a moderator. Then, after about 4 years of pretty much debating the same topics ad nauseum, I eventually just snapped. I would ad hom random people frequently (usually one of the late influx of 17 year old angst-ridden homos who prided on calling themselves Marxists or communists). The incredibly rare times a female would go into the introduction section to make a hi thread, I'd post a random "tits or GTFO" jpeg.

Believe it or not, I was actually a very passionate and lucid point-counterpointer. I think the main reason I stayed refreshed so long over there is because, as an American non-liberal, I was a huge minority. The board is pretty international, and was composed of, I'd say, at least 70% who would be classified as American WAY-left, European socialist, or communist.

You can only talk about a finite number of subjects so long before something in you just snaps. As such, I figured myself to be on a countdown to perma-banning. I like to go out with a bang.

I'll probably end up graphically sexually harassing rivrrat or something.

This forum is pretty balanced, which I like. I recently found another one that seems similarly well balanced, I'm been spending some time elsewhere.

I posted for a while at Political Forum, which was ok too, but a little more tolerant of the more extreme righties, and the software was inferior. Haven't been there in awhile.
 
I've been pretty bored by it, I must say. Or maybe I've changed. I think I did use to get caught up in engaging with people that are easily provoked by sensationalistic media memes. After a while it becomes the same old tired game.

You've lost interest. I know what you mean, though. My interest has lessen here, so I don't respond to as many threads as I used to, but I still come here to get some news or find some interesting things to debate about.

I've found a pleasant alternative for variety. I still like this venue, but I'm enjoying my new place as well. If you want the addy, PM me...:cool:

Me too! (Been busy.) I think that when you're not on here as much, you almost become sort of disconnected. I am speaking from my own persepctive. I feel somewhat disconnected on here, bu that's not a bad thing. The connection will come back. I bet it will be the same for you.

Its summer time. People are mowing lawns, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors.

I'm still recovering from back surgery or I would be fishing instead of visiting forums.

No offense? But I find it in bad form to come to here and talk about how you have found another forum you have been posting on.

I feel it would have been in better taste had you put this in the Feedback/Suggestion forum as putting it here is kinda like walking into someones dinner party and saying that while the food and stuff is pretty good that you could leave and get much better at the next party over.

More bad taste. Sorry but I just find this insulting to the owner of this website. That is all.

You wanna do this? Send out PM's or take it to suggestions or feedbacks. Do not start a thread in Offtopic and just kinda crack on this place. It seems wrong to me. But just my thoughts:(
