I was also taught that the civil war was over slavery. We were informed of the Mason Dixon line, the long standing and growing division between North and South over the expansion of slave states, John Brown the violent abolitionist, and the war and the emancipation of the slaves.

We were also taught slavery was wrong and cruel.

It was a standard fair for schools outside the South (mine being California).

Slippery was part of it and abolitionist movement gravitated toward the Union. But most of this is tertiary.

Nope, the absolute opposite. Schools have abandoned education in favor of indoctrination. Some even encourage their "students to not tell their parents about sex identity. Take a look at reports on students' performance on grade level testing; at many schools slim minorities meet or exceed expectations. But the CAN put condoms on bananas correctly, or remember their classmates "pronouns"/.

Much like Republican college clubs, who bring in the likes of Milo Yiannopoulos and Gavin McInnes to share the conservative perspective.

Ehh, Dennis Prager at least believes what he says. He's an old guy who has been conservative for a long time, and he presents a fairly standard conservative worldview (e.g. free markets, religion, skepticism of social change, a dim view of human nature). In contrast, Milo and Gavin come across as trolls and/or grifters.
