IRS ‘whistleblower’ who claimed Hunter Biden case was mishandled won’t cooperate with Senate probe

To be fair, if I was called to testify before a Democrat lead committee even on something as simple as what day of the week it was I'd do whatever was necessary to get out of that too. Odds are that if I gave my name without a middle initial they'd hold me in contempt and try to put me in jail for lying to congress.
Are you aware of the fact that it was this guys lawyer who first approached the Democrat led Senate Committee? They did not call him, he approached them claiming whistleblower status and information. He then changed lawyers or became affiliated with other lawyers who were involved in the whistleblower's" Jim Jordan called and part of a legal organization focused on discrediting Biden and BOOM....all of a sudden he is refusing to testify before the Senate Committee he approached and had gone running to the House.

you all have no call to criticize until we know more
I was originally supportive of this guy because he was, on his lawyer's advice, following whistleblower process and protocols. I really thought given that, this might have legs. Then all of a sudden he gets involved with different lawyers focused on discrediting Biden, abandons his official whistleblower claim, goes public and refuses to meet with the Senate and runs to the House. Sorry, but I have lots of reasons to criticize.

Trump's middle name should be collusion.

hard to collude when there is no conspiring or coordination with anyone.

collusion was a term made up by the MSM for people who could not read the actual evidence to chew on.

that way they could say Trump "colluded" when there was no legal findings to show that he conspired or coordinated, which is a stupid thing to say.

One can collude without conspiring. Collusion is not a legal term.

Yet another republican "whistle blower" case falls apart.

Womp womp....

An Internal Revenue Service criminal investigator who has accused Justice Department officials of slow-walking a long-running probe into President Joe Biden’s son Hunter’s tax affairs has cut off communication with a key congressional committee amid questions about the veracity of his claims and his motivations for coming forward.

The special agent, Gary Shapley, is a veteran of the IRS criminal investigations department who on Thursday revealed his identity in an interview with CBS News.

Mr Shapley is set to give evidence in a closed session before the House Ways and Means Committee on Friday. That panel, which has jurisdiction over the IRS, is led by Representative Jason Smith, a Missouri Republican.

But even as he is poised to testify before the House panel, the 14-year IRS veteran has now cut off communication with the Senate Finance Committee, which oversees the Internal Revenue Service, after his attorney met with committee representatives.

Mr Shapley has also cancelled a scheduled interview with that committee, which is led by Democratic Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon.
Oh noes. Another republican witness has disappeared. Why does this keep happening?

the document states he did not conspire or coordinate... now by all means , using the English language , how does someone "collude" if they do not conspire or coordinate with someone?

here, let me help you get started:

noun
secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others.
"the armed forces were working in collusion with drug traffickers"

OMG! That should be illegal. ;)
Yes, it should be but it isn't. Nonetheless, the fact their testimony was solicited and paid for by a Trump associate taints it even beyond the idiocy of their testimony.

Yup that it....secret cooperation in order to deceive....and sparer me your patronization.

Of course you would be a victim. Do you ever man up and not cry about being a victim?

... “We take any issue involving whistleblowers seriously,” the agency said, adding that it could not comment on specific taxpayer issues. “Commissioner (Daniel) Werfel took immediate action by contacting the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration when allegations were raised in media reports.”

“When an IRS employee raises allegations, the Commissioner’s office does not directly run an investigation, seek the identity of the whistleblower or similarly intervene; instead, the IRS supports the Inspector General,” the statement added. “The Inspector General serves as a critical guardian of the whistleblower process and conducts relevant inquiries into the matter. If TIGTA makes a finding and a recommendation on a case, IRS leadership will take prompt action.”

where is the Office of Special Counsel on this matter?
it has the authority to subpoena information and testimony without the knowledge, consent, or presence of the employing agency

No hard evidence against Hunter Biden ........... = not saying Hunter Biden is a saint.

This really stood out to me. One of his new lawyers testified with the whistleblowers paid by Patel. Now all of sudden he wants to deal with the House and not the Senate........yup 15 minute of famer! Read it all, it's an eye opener

"He also told the television network that his legal efforts are being aided by a nonprofit staffed by former Republican congressional staffers in addition to Mr Lytle, a former federal prosecutor who has experience representing federal employees who’ve been accused of political bias as well as white-collar criminal defendants.

But it is the involvement of that nonprofit, Empower Oversight, that has raised suspicions of political motivations among people close to congressional oversight efforts, particularly after Mr Shapley declined to speak to the Democratic-led Finance Committee.

In addition to Mr Lytle, Mr Shapley has also been represented in his whistleblower matters by the president of Empower Oversight, Tristan Leavitt.

Mr Leavitt is a former Trump administration appointee to the Merit System Protection Board who also spent time working for the Office of Special Counsel, an independent federal agency charged with enforcing whistleblower protection laws as well as the Hatch Act, a New Deal-era statute which prohibits federal employees from engaging in certain partisan activities while on the government payroll.

Since leaving government service at the end of the Trump administration, he has been involved with representing a group of former FBI special agents who call themselves “The Suspendables”.

The ex-agents claim they were unlawfully retaliated against for expressing what they describe as conservative political viewpoints and for voicing concerns about excessive use of force when arresting suspects charged with crimes stemming from participation in the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

Mr Leavitt testified alongside several of the agents at a congressional hearing last week, during which two of his clients admitted to receiving funds from a prominent ex-aide to former president Donald Trump, Kash Patel.

"They noted that he was previously represented by a prominent Washington, DC attorney with extensive experience in representing law enforcement and intelligence whistleblowers and said Mr Shapley appeared to change attorneys because his first attorney appeared more concerned with following the law than getting his allegations into the press. "
The HOUSE MAGAT REVENGE AGENDA will continue to be the TOP PRIORITY of many of the HOUSE MAGAT CAUCUS.

Yes lying is a crime but I am concerned the testimony is behind closed doors. I have little faith that we will see a truthful and full transcript of what he says. If it's only Republicans then it's garbage as far as I'm concerned. I was on board with this guy until he went public. I can only surmise he was denied whistleblower status because his perspective was biased or untrue or he purposefully decided to go public instead.

At the end of the article it describes who his lawyers are connected with and the fact he may have changed lawyers because his lawyer was more interested in protecting him as a whistleblower than getting his story in the press. That is a huge red flag for me and may explain why he is walking away from the Senate Committee and running to the House
I think it's very fair to be skeptical of things that take place behind closed doors. I don't trust things that come from anonymous sources or behind closed doors.

It's an ongoing DoJ investigation, so any testimony will be behind closed doors. That's just how it works.

Maybe he now fears legal repercussions against himself

Unless it is something you agree with....

That does not mean we should blindly trust whatever claims they make.
Claims that who make? The only claim I see is that he cancelled an interview. I'm assuming that's true because it would be dumb to lie about it.

I'm just saying that it's typical for ongoing investigations to remain private. Public testimony could easily backfire. It could blow the case. If there's anything there the Republicans think implicates Joe, they will bring that forward. The question is why did the whistleblower cancel the interview. Raises questions as to bias and veracity.
