In the UK, Sharia councils, often referred to as Sharia courts, are not formal courts of law and do not have the power to enforce their decisions. These councils primarily handle cases involving religious matters and do not overrule or replace the decisions of UK courts.

Kind of like how in the us religions do exactly the same thing, like Catholics excommunication

Mosaddeq got into a big beef with the Shah over the appointment of a new defense minister so the Shah busted him. Mosaddeq's supporters organized by the the Tudeh or communist party took to the streets and the Shah had to reappoint him PM and accept his defense minister. The parliament then voted Mosaddeq vast new powers that were dictatorial.

True to his dictator's form, Mosaddeq dissolved parliament on a referendum vote supported by the communist party. Washington feared Mosaddeq would turn to the Soviet Union for support against the UK, US and the Shah. Hence the coup.

The Shah became a strong supporter and defender of Israel. The US strengthened the Shah with copious support to include chasing away the communists who grew their support by embracing Mosaddeq. This was a successful model for the still new CIA in the Cold War, its early time especially. CIA did and spent whatever it took to dump Mosaddeq.

As I heard it the Anglo-Persian Oil Co's (Now BP) terms for Iran amounted to Iran barely making any money at all and Mossadegh wanted to renegotiate the deal, and BP refused, and THAT is when he moved to nationalize and when he turned toward the Soviets.
And that sounds plausible when you take into account UK's history with "INJ-YAH" (India) and the tea business.

Britain was accustomed to making some pretty lousy deals with "the savages" in third world nations back then.

Not the same. Jews acknowledge they live under the laws of the land. Jewish Beth Din Courts have never sought official recognition of their rulings. And their rulings are not recognized under English law. Jews must marry or be divorced according to English Law.

Muslims want Shariah Law to be on equal footing with English law.

This isn't even something new or just done by Muslims. Sleeper cells in the US have been talked about, suspected of Russia, Islamic terrorist organizations, Mossad, rightwing Christian nationalists and racial supremacists, and other groups who tend to do damage through terrorist tactics for decades, close to a century if not longer. I was a fan of Hunter as a child, a cop show in the 80s. One of the episodes talks about sleeper cells waiting to be activated for a race war by militia types (Bad Company).

No they don't. They have voluntary arbitration that can be based on Islamic law and cannot override English or Welsh law and are not recognized by the legal system of the UK at all.

No. You have shown that some people want that, not "by their own words". Again, you are attempting to lump all Muslims into the words of a few.

I can easily show you where Christians have said that everyone should have to live under Christian law, the laws of their religion. There are in fact Christian based laws implemented against the US Constitution in this country right now.

Are you suggesting some religions are more likely to be terrorists than others?

I think it was pretty clear that people were worried about people with close ties to Iran making an attack, and not because they're Jewish or whatever.

The difference is that one was a bigger country attacking a smaller country, invading them, kidnapping their children. That is a good reason to risk such a thing. The other was a smaller country attacking a slightly bigger country then when the bigger country fought back they called us in to finish their fight. That is not at all worth a risk for us.

This is the same thing as HOAs having power in the US.


Same level. I'm all for forcing both to be disbanded, what about you? Hell, HOAs have more power in the US than the Sharia councils in the UK.

Trump would be ok with this. It would give him a chance to claim emergency powers.

He sends ICE into LA to get people to riot so he could send in the Guard, He bombs Iran and if they retaliate here, he'll use the military and law enforcement more.

Others suffer for it, but he's showing STRENGTH.
