Iowa Poll: Kamala Harris leapfrogs Donald Trump to take lead near Election Day

Why? It's still in the margin of error unless it changes again... Stay tuned.
You can’t possibly be happy that the convicted sex offender and felon that you said you wouldn’t support before you said you would support is now behind in Iowa, a very conservative state-even if it’s barely within the margin of error. Right?
Do you agree it’s not good news for the MAGAT mob?

If (big IF) this poll is correct and Harris wins in Iowa, the Republicans in the Iowa State Legislature will be scrambling to hide their complicity in passing the 6 week abortion ban. IF Harris wins Iowa, it definitely will help change the abortion law there. The majority of voters vote essentially a straight ticket. (I can't say that for Iowa, specifically.)
If Harris wins in Iowa, the election wont be close anywhere.

That’s right. The much revered Des Moines Register of the deep red state of Iowa places Harris ahead of Traitor Trump.
  • Democrat Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump in Iowa 47% to 44%, a new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows.
  • A victory for Harris would be a shocking development after Iowa has swung aggressively to the right in recent elections, delivering Trump solid victories in 2016 and 2020.
  • The poll shows that women — particularly those who are older or are politically independent — are driving the late shift toward Harris.
  • Trump continues to lead with his core base of support: men, evangelicals, rural residents and those without a college degree.

A sign of what we’ll see on Tuesday?

I pray so

And I'm an atheist.

The fact that Iowa is in the margin of error in favor of Harris is the thing that should concern Republicans.
Barely
I think I read Harris is up 3 points and the MOE is 3.4 points.
For me it’s the trend that is so encouraging. I don’t think Iowa is alone. Harris is finishing strong, delivering her message a sprinting to the finish line while the felon is still whining about an unfair election and that the justice department is just out to get him.
Awwwww…..😩

Well yeah, but if you're a Republican then a hard red state being in the margin of error...leaning toward the Democrat...will not be encouraging to you.

The problem is that abortion is not a federal issue. Electing Harris wont help change the law in Iowa. If they want to change the law they have to change state legislators and the governor. Im guessing women are smart enough to understand that
Sure but she won't attack it more or if or other things around the issue.
Trump has the problem with lying and we saw what Ron did in Florida with abortion.

No I dont remember. Cant you say that women who vote for trump arent stupid?

Plenty of women, especially white women without college degrees, will vote for Trump.

The base of the MAGA movement are individuals that don’t seem very concerned with the actual policies Trump has put forth. Nor do they seem to fully grasp the economic consequences of the policies Trump has put forth.

Tariffs? Bad for their wallets.
Mass deportation? Bad for their wallets.

Unless you are incredibly wealthy, a vote for Trump isn’t in your own economic best interest.

But MAGA seems more of a “own the libs” and cultural movement than a movement based on facts and data and the validity of policy or any sort of substance.

Just to refresh your memory:

“During a Harris campaign Zoom call Tuesday night, Biden said, "The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters ”

I agree with the President

Only because the Supreme MAGA Court nullified Roe which nullification denies the Constitutional right as established in Roe.

Expanding the SC can reestablish the Constitutional right to abortion. Harris would need a Congress that would enact this however.

So Harris can name successors to reestablish the Constitutional abortion right after the crotchety old men Thomas and Alito die of their broken dreams that are our fascist nightmares. Libertarians and Putin too are mortified by Harris. Libertarians love Trump because he's a "strong leader."

If Trump was ahead in California by 3 points, you would know how to think about this.
Trump would never be ahead in CA. by 3 points.

I'm not that concerned about Iowa, who only has six electoral votes. I think some are over-hyping a poll that is well within the margin of error.

I’ll tell you who else is mortified at the prospect of a Harris victory: Elon Musky. He himself has said if Harris wins he’s screwed. He might finally have to pay his fair share in taxes and he’d likely lose a whole bunch of lucrative government contracts.
It would be a pleasure to see.

Well within?
By 0.4 points?
Lolololol

Wouldn’t you just love it if those six EC votes put Harris over the top?
I know I would.

And the women who dont hate him, do you think they are just stupid?
They are among the Magaletarian Cult who will get nothing from Trump. Once Trump is in office forever he'll tell the Magaletarians they're totally stupid. Fat, ugly and gross. Morons. Just to send more money that's all.

And in a normal universe the Democrat would not be ahead in Iowa by 3 points, and yet here we are.

It's not just this one poll that is encouraging for Harris supporters. It's the trend over the last 6 months in the Des Moines Register Iowa polls.

June 2024 - Trump + 18 points
September 2024 - Trump + 4 points
November 2014 - Harris + 3 points

The 18 point lead was against Biden, not Harris.

Here's some more granular data from the poll:

Similarly, senior voters who are 65 and older favor Harris. But senior women support her by a more than 2-to-1 margin, 63% to 28%, while senior men favor her by just 2 percentage points, 47% to 45%.

Independent likely voters, who have supported Trump in every other Iowa Poll this year, now favor Harris, 46% to 39%.

Harris’ larger support among likely voters 65 and older, who prefer her 55% to 36%, could be a boon, because older Iowans tend to be more reliable voters and show up at disproportionately higher rates.

Here too, it's the trend that is so encouraging. Independents switching from Trump to Harris.

Trump has made a number of stupid statements and errors over the last 2 weeks. Late deciding voters seem to be taking notice.

That's still bad.
Your snipe is irrelevant since you need to understand this is bad.
Understanding it’s bad and admitting it’s bad for the felon are two separate things

The ring leader of the Christian right in Iowa responsible for both the abortion ban and the over-budget school voucher program, which is just a taxpayer handout to prop up private and parochial schools, is the right wing governor, Covid Kim Reynolds. As long as she’s sitting in the governor’s chair, she’ll be running indignant cover for her henchmen in the Iowa House and Senate who do her dirty work without questions.
